HP's tech department is genius for sending an update to reject ink cartridges made before a certain date to prevent third parties from refilling them. I had an official HP ink cartridge ordered from the HP WEBSITE that was rejected by my printer simply for sitting on the shelf as a back-up. I bet they didn't think about businesses that order a surplus and keep them in storage as back-up. So now I have a $150 full and useless cartridge because HP just can't help themselves. I will NEVER order or replace a printer/computer/any HP product again.

Excellent product and worked perfectly. The biggest negative is the ?price?. HP needs to review its product cost and produce the ink cartridge more competitively.

What people should know about this product is that if the chip on the cartridge gets outdated then all of your very expensive ink is trash. Brand new HP cartridges that don?t work. So buy them one at a time.

My practice has always been that when I put a cartridge in a printer, I order another one and put it in a drawer so I won't ever be caught without ink for my printer. I did just that and had a cartridge in my drawer. I went to install it and it has a warranty expires date on it. THAT IS TOTALLY FALSE. The warranty may be expired but what they fail to tell you is the cartridge won't work if installed after the warranty date. Odd, my car is out of warranty but when I get in it and turn the key, it still starts and runs. My washing machine is out of warranty, but again, amazingly, when I turn it on, I can still wash my clothes. Not the case with HP printer cartridges. When the warranty expires, they are programmed to not work and will not work. So now, I have a $150 ink cartridge that is brand new and full and I can't use it because HP arbitrarily decided it has an expiration date, what a joke. What is really upsetting is I read the whole box, the entire web page where you purchase the cartridges and NOWHERE does it say a cartridge will not work after the warranty expires. Shame on you HP, completely detestable business practice in my opinion. I would never treat my customers that way. I have a call into customer service and I'm waiting for a response, hopefully that they will send me a new cartridge but I am not optimistic at all that they will based on the run around I have gotten from customer support. I can say for sure, if I don't get a replacement cartridge, I will never purchase another HP product again. I have been a lifelong fan of this company and have probably purchased at least 30 HP computer and printers, but never again. Again I say, SHAME ON YOU HP!

The most expensive ink cartridge I have ever bought! However it should last 10-12 months for our home use. HP makes it so easy to remove the old cartridge and install new.

Just because the part number is 972x, and just because IT FITS the 377dw printer, and just because the 377dw printer is designed to physically accept this cartridge, and just because all of the other cartridges for the 377dw are 972 cartridges, and just because the data ports of the cartridge match the data ports of the printer and just because the ink ports match just like the 972A cartridge.....and just because the people in the store said the 972x was the proper cartridge and just because in the past HP has said the 972x would work in the 377dw..........and just because you may have spent $139 for this 972x cartridge........ apparently does NOT MEAN IT WORKS in the 377 dw. !!!! There are quite a number of us who have wasted money buying the 972dw cartridge, sliding it in and hearing the familiar "click" and closing the door.....only to find that we have been sold a bill of goods. HP owes us all a reasonable solution.

Extremely extremely expensive. I bought all cartridges and it cost me $570!! Had I known this, I wouldn't have bought the pagewide printer. There is no possible way that a print cartridge could cost more than $20 to manufacture all 4 cartridges. Please tell me how it can cost this much...

This ink cartridge last forever and ever! Well I really don't know yet but I can tell you the setup ink cartridge that usually does not have any ink lasted forever. Shipping was free when I had purchased and the cartridges were delivered the next day as well.
