I am not an experienced laptop owner, and I am very happy with the portability and the performance of this laptop. I still use my desktop, however in the evenings when getting comfy and ending my day, I use the laptop for browsing, checking accounts and most of all for studying and reviewing differnent interests. Also I take it with me when traveling away from home to keep up on daily business, etc.

This laptop was easy to set up - has everything on it I need and a breeze to use. I did need to order the HP wireless mouse to go with it.....my other wireless mouse did not conform, but that's ok....everything is fine and dandy!

This is the third G6 notebook I've bought. The first one was for me so I could run a dedicated, specific application. It proved to be such a good value that I purchased a second for one of my daughters. Then (of course) my granddaughter wanted her own laptop since I had bought laptops for her older brother and her cousin in Spring 2012. I first got her a laptop similar to theirs (the model I bought for them was no longer available), but that laptop ran Win 8 and had no optical drive. A week after giving it to her it was obvious that the laptop was a non-starter. Windows 8 proved to be counter-intuitive for her (a pretty savvy 13-year old), and the lack of an optical drive made it impossible to load aftermarket programs. So, for a savings of $10, I traded up from a 14" to a 15.5" screen, larger hard drive, optical drive, and Win 7. This computer is everything I should have gotten her in the first place. It has a good feature set, is powerful enough to handle most any application, and, with Win 7, it just works. No trying to learn a new OS. After the Win 8 debacle, I ordered myself a new, maxed-out dv7 with Win 7 so I never have to learn Win 8. Obviously, I'd by a G6 again, as we already have three (all purchased within the last three months. You really can't go wrong with the G6 and Win 7. It's a winning combination.

Based on my first couple weeks, I'd say the g6 is a very good laptop at a very good price EXCEPT I strongly dislike the Synaptics touchpad. The extra "features" like pinch and zoom are probably OK once you get used to them (I'm still working on that--they happen too often unexpectedly and I finally disabled them). More importantly, far too often the mouse pointer just hangs up for a second or three for no reason. No magic tap or swish has yet been identified to make it startup, but eventually it always does. It really breaks up the flow of use in a most annoying way.

appears to ge a great little machine, but usb ports don't work so can't use it for the very purpose I purchased it for. Still waiting for return box and label to have it repaired, and dont know hoooooow loooong that will take.

bright screen, nice keyboard, have to hit the touch pad right in the middle to click on something, wanted Windows 7 because some of my software won't run on W8 - thanks a lot MS.

This is my 4th HP computer, even though I looked at others(samsung), I always wind up with an HP. The pricing, features, are always great with HP.

I was disappointed to find virtually no paper instructions with this computer. Nothing to give a basic description as to what software and programs were pre-loaded, maybe a keyboard diagram or what steps to get started. Online help isn't much use when you're trying to get online. I have become conditioned to expect an overdose of common sense instructions that cover everything one would encounter setting up a new technical item. Oddly included here was a pad of notepaper. Hardly what was needed. Overall, once my limited computer experience got it working, the computer seemed to perform as expected, so no complaints there.

I'm especially impressed with the cosmetic appearance and performance, when I consider that I purchased a budget laptop from HP. It excels to levels of excellence that I didn't expect. Through setting it up and applying programs that I need to use, it's been a pleasure to use. Everything has been "grief-free"! Seamless. I simply have no doubts where this laptop is concerned. I am VERY pleased. I'd buy it again! Thanks to HP, I can relax and believe in this product.

It's ok for the money, but nothing to really brag on. The casement is plastic with some sharp edges to it.

I have had my HP Pavilion g6-2010nr for about three weeks and have been very pleased with the performance in everyway. I'm not a gamer or hard computer user, but a general user.
