Woohoo!

First, my one issue. Unboxed it plugged everything in and turned it on and it sounded like a helicopter taking off. The fan noise made my wife ask me what I was doing in the next room. Spent about an hour with tech support. All the time figuring I would have to box it up and send it back. Reluctantly pulling off the side panel, I discovered the wiring from the wireless unit was hanging into the GPU fan. Lifting that out immediately made the machine quiet as if it was turned off. That out of the way, I am thrilled with the speed and performance of this model. It springs to life and even with 5-10 windows open running different applications, never skips a beat. Photoshop, the most intense application I own, runs flawlessly on this model. There is a ton of room inside for expandability. The case is clean and modern. The keyboard has exceptional feel and is great quality. Not thrilled with the mouse which is very light and flimsy feeling but seems to work fine. The only feature I wish this unit had that it doesn't is bluetooth.

Good, not great

For the money, this is a good system. Good speed, whisper quiet. Good mid-level bang for the buck..

Noisey no more. Very happy.

Computer at set up was extremely noisey; really loud, buzzy, tinny and sometimes sounding like a 2 stroke engine! I was very disppointed after months of shopping for just the right computer. After one Chat session with with HP support a simple solution was found. Very, very quiet now.

A great computer for the cost. Of course I got it for around 624 after the sale price and online coupon. The system runs extremely quite and has a heap of power with a nice 5450 graphics card. The pictures and video are clear and crisp. They sent the wrong video adapter plug and overnighted a new one. Being stuck at home in a heap of snow , I thought that was pretty cool. Any Hoot - I've only had the system for a couple of days but my first impression is that the computer is really awesome. I also like the way HP lays out their support web sites. Everything is clearly marked and simple to navigate. Good Stuff ! This is a great system for a business , home or a college student and handles my graphical applications with ease.

Running Architectural Desktop

Priced right for a computer to use with CAD and Quick Books. I had and HP Media Center before upgrading to a Quad System. I thought about getting an Apple however, I needed the power without adding to the price tag.

Are these other people kidding???

The other two reviews of this product have either nothing to do with this product or are only tangentially related at best. Who cares about interference. RF interference is part and parcel of living in today's WIFI / WIMAX / CDMA / GSM / UMTS / GPRS / EV-DO / DECT / iDEN / HSPDA / HSPA+... world. Now, as for video capture, it doesn't say that it has video capture capability so, another completely invalid review. This is a good PC for the Mid Range User, and has very decent upgradability with a better graphics card it can become a very reasonable gaming PC. Or with a workstation graphics card such as an Nvidia QuadroFX it can become a very reasonable graphics workstation. The PC works well, if you get the wireless keyboard, that and the mouse do leave a bit to be desired particularly in an area with a large degree of RF interference. I find it unusual to see this in a mouse keyboard wireless solution. Its interesting, because there was a time not too long ago that people were concerned about HP PCs and now I am more concerned about HP peripherals, they are not offering properly updated drivers on any but their very newest printers and scanners, and even those are cumbersome and contain much unecessary bulk. And as I said the wireless keyboard and mouse leaves much to be desired. As does every webcam they make at this time. So now HP is bad for peripherals and is returning to the market with great solid PCs at a good price.

Sweet and powerful

Arrived 3 days ago. Smoking speed and power. When I pulled the keyboard out of the box, I thought it was a bit cheap-feeling for the "elite" product, but it actually performs well and feels ok to work on. Setup was fast and easy. It replaced my 8 year old Pavillion so the speed is phenomenal in comparison. My old pavillion, still working is going to be my media server for the house.

Computer dead on arrival

This computer sounded great on paper, was offered at a great price, and arrived quickly. However, it was dead on arrival (literally wouldn't boot up the first time even though it was getting power). I troubleshooted for over 2 hours with Tech Support and ended up having to return it for a refund because the motherboard is bad. This is the second HP computer in 2 weeks that has arrived with a defective motherboard and wouldn't start up.

Video capture non-existant

Don't buy this computer if you wish to capture videos from your camcorder. It won't do it. I wish I could take this unit back to the store. I can't believe HP didn't include a video capture utility with the unit. It is over priced just for that reason alone.

Interfers with devices using RF over power lines

The computer itself isn't too bad - about average. However, if you are using any timing or control devices such as X-10 or Radio Shack's Plug'npower be prepared for failures of the controlled devices to turn on or off. I had this problem and isolated it to the computer whether it was turned on or off. Unplugging the computer allowed normal operation of all controlled lights and appliances. I contacted HP through chat help and they suggested sending the computer in for repair. I did (at no cost to me) with a complete explanation of the problem and how to reproduce the failure. The repair center called to tell me that they could not find anything wrong. I determined after discussion with them that they did not test for the type of problem I was having and the computer was sent back to me. I found a $ 30.00 device from "Smarthome" that would filter out the noise the HP was putting on the line. The HP is now plugged into that filter and working okay.
