well surpassed expecttions

This unit replaced a LaserJet 4V (think late 80's technology) that was bulletproof, so I knew HP makes a good product and that this printer would be a giant step up. Yet I never expected this machine to integrate so seamlessly into my network and work as fast and effortlessly as it does. I still have not used may of the advanced features yet - duplex printing or printing from different sizes of paper / envelopes, but after a few months of hard use during tax season, I don't expect anything less than a rock solid machine.

good quality fast print

The only negative comment about this printer is that the toner should last longer, 10000 prints was not the quantity I received from the cartage

Great printer!

We replaced two HP 4350TN's with the M601DN's and we are extremely pleased with their performance. They are fast and the best part is the duplexing ability! We print Material Safety Data Sheets for each of our orders and the ability to print these documents in duplex mode will save us a ton of paper! Reasonably prices enterprise level printer... great upgrade choice!

Great Speed But Smudges Ink

I was very reluctant to give up my HP4200 Series LaserJet Printer - what a workhorse, but we felt it was time for an upgrade at my office and I chose this printer. It runs much faster in printouts, but when we attempted to create several labels for a large mailing, the ink was spotty and smudged on almost every single label. I had to re-print using our Canon Copier. We do a number of bulk mailings and my printer is the one used for generating the merged letters/envelopes. Now we are considering getting the HP4200 serviced. Great for many jobs, but I don't recommend using for large merge jobs.

Great Printer with 1 Exception

We've only had this printer about a week, and it's much better than our previous printer. The only reason I am not giving this a 5 star rating is because of one annoying feature. If the printer idles for any length of time, it automatically goes into a 'sleeper' mode, which then prevents any jobs from being printed until it's turned off, then on again. Once we do that, we still have to wait for it to go through the all the initializing & configuration stages before it will print the job that was previously sent to it. Even though the wait time isn't very long (probably a minute or less), this happens too many times throughout the work day and is extremely annoying, especially when one of us is trying to print something that's needed right now. I would love to know if/how to turn the sleep mode off during the work day. Other than that, it's a great printer...the speed (when not in sleep mode) and quality of the printing are excellent, the double-siding feature is a definite plus when you want to save on paper or when you're printing a draft of a document. The control panel is also a great feature, although we haven't needed to use it often, as of yet.

Great Printer

So far this has been a great replacement for our 4000 series laser jet printer. Office has about 12 people and it gets used a lot. It is fast and quiet. We will see how long the cartridges last if it really will do 10,000 copies; definately saving us on paper, since one of the features is double sided copying. I wish there was a default to that; right now you have to choose it everytime you print. Otherwise everyone is happy with it.
