This is a fine calculator but it could have been perfect... Opportunity squandered! It has a lovely clean layout, nice size, great functionality, solar power, cheap price and really is good to use for the most part... BUT It has some real stupidity in a few places that takes the shine off what could have been the perfect scientific calculator: - The sign change button is NOT a proper sign change it is just another minus key. Not only is there important missing functionality there but it is also the waste of a key! - The degree to radian conversion is the most putrid cludge imaginable. You can only convert to your current mode. It takes 3 keystrokes to change the mode, 3 to do the conversion and then 3 to change the mode back. 9 keystrokes to do what should take 1 or 2! Unbelievably STUPID! - There is a nice array of memories that you can use but it takes 3 keystrokes to store a value which is one too many. - The ENG button is a waste of a button. If you want to use Engineering notation that should have been a notation mode like fixed and scientific. What is needed is a button to convert from your desired mode to normal digits. - The OFF button is a shift over the AC. Why isn't it a shift over the ON? - Pi should have it's own button. - No X-Y exchange. These shortcomings could easily have been avoided if the project manager had any grasp of scientific calculation practice. What has become of HP? They built the company on their high quality calculators! How could they make so many mistakes in one model? There are so many good things about this model that it is a crying shame to see what should have been the PERFECT school and university calculator marred by such stupidity. Next time HP, ask me to review it BEFORE you release.

My two-year-old daughter sees me using my HP-33s calculator regularly, so I decided to buy her this. I have been super impressed. Though my daughter mostly uses it as a toy, I have found this calculator is very durable. I rarely need advanced features for calculating, so this has most everything I need. My one complaint is that it is not an RPN calculator.

I love all the features like fractions and can store answers. It only cost $11. I love it for doing my algebra. It is excellent for any algebra 1 students.

This was purchased as a replacement for a basic 4-function desk calculator for a relative. As the numbers were not large enough for his vision, I decided to buy it from him and use it myself. As a long time user of other branded graphing calculators, and an old HP-45 owner, I thought it a good idea to have a non-graphing option to use in my private math tutoring business. This machine is about 1/40 th the price of my old HP-45 (which no longer works, being purchased in 1973), but is just as loaded with functions. I have just begun to use the HP 10s+ on a daily basis. The extra edit line is a nice feature for those of us with big or clumsy fingers, and the overall set up for this calculator is simple, once you read the instructions. At $12, the price is a bargain and it is a better deal than other low-priced calculators out there, given HPs history of quality and innovation. Note: I gave this calculator a 3-star rating because it is not a bells-and-whistles machine (HP already has several models in this category). If you can tolerate having another branded machine, this is a very good choice. It is simple, functional, and should last many years. It will be good for students from high school through college, if a graphing calculator is not required.

I have bought two of these HP10s on sale. I wish I didn't: they spontaneously die on you after a year, the other has a failing display. They NEVER fell, got wet, one was indeed never moved at all! This is very, very poor building quality and an insult to HP Quality. And I do and did own the legendary calculators like toe HP32-33-11c. Sorry guys, never ever do this again.

On the website it looks slim and metallic, but in person it is very thick and plastic. Very cheap looking. Doesn't live up to being an HP calculator. I have 20 year old calculators with the same functionality that are slimmer. The screen is also somewhat dim and I can't find a way to change the contrast.

I just bought this calculator couple months ago. Its new, bought it in Officeworks Australia and I just used it when Im studying. I always close it with the cover if I dont use it. Sometimes, it doesnt want to turn on. but then I wait for few minutes and its on. This time, I just used it again since last week, and put it on my table, didnt even touch it. When I was about to use it, it didnt turn on at all, and waited for few minutes, still nothing happened. I dont know why and its very risky to have this calculator especially exam time.
