Good, fast(both in printing and start up),quiet, realable office printer. For those who had older OfficeJet Printers wouldn´t be disaointed. At last Hp has a printer that is quite cheap to by and cheap in printing(that you can print up to printed value). What I´m a bit disapointed to is that Hp no longer manufactures fixed head printers.Modern type of printertechnique cant manage to print low resolution doc without blures. I´ve tried many ways but it seems that this techniqe is calibrated at a hig res min 600 dpi. However if it´s lower than 100 dpi its just waste of money to do so.It doesn´t matter how many times you try to adjust printerheads. With this type of techniqe I don´t know how many times I´ve got damaged cartiges that I´ve bought online. It has also this minus that I have to adjust printerhead very often (like every 100 pages or so).In the older technique with fixed head printers I´ve never had this issues. It was just to by a cartige and print until it was empty. I´m also quite disapointed that nowdays many modern printers with original cartige always leaves around 10%. This means that manufactues foces their clinets to throw away around 10% it purchaste every time. I´m also quite fed up that many moder printers won´t manege to print any doc if one color cartige is empty(and you only has black left)= If I chose B/W option the printer should only use black ink. However in 90% when I print a doc it is in B/W,so why should the printer also use color as well?? It´s also good that this printer has a duplex unit as standard, but I´ve never manage how this works so I´ve gave up and do it manualy. In my opinion its quite useless when the dupex unit don´t do it´s job. It´s also good that you can replace the printerhead when it´s damaged and no mess with ink in the printerhead. I´ve had a similar officeJet wide format printer that I´ve had to clean very often because it uses so much unnesserary ink.

Loved all the features listed on this printer...only to discover it doesn't support beyond Windows 7. Not Windows 10 compatible. Bummer.

I was looking for a printer that would offer good print quality with ease of use and a reasonably small size. You have given me the chance to buy exactly what I needed for an extremely reasonable price. Easy set up was also important to me, and I had no problem getting the printer up and running in very little time.

I bought this and installed it but I realized it didn't make copies from articles I had cut out. I returned it with no problem and bought a HP Envy 5540 which was exactly what I wanted.

Disappointed that the printer shut down when one ink cartridge ran out. Previous brands of printers allowed to keep printing until all ink was out. I had to stop a project and make atrip to the store just to finish up. Other than that, the printer is superb.

This HP Officejet Pro 8100 has so many good properties. The print quality is really good. For instance, I printed a large photo that was excellent, it was much better than 2 laserjets I tried first. I really appreciate the iPad iPhone printing. The cost of the ink per page is very low. It is handy to be able to send emails to the printer to print remotely. I have already recommended it to several friends. I am an IT support person, so I know much about many printers.

Impossible to set up for computer printing--default is wi-fi printing which I don't have...into the garbage unless I figure out how to set it up--wasted two hours on this piece of junk already!

Beyond frustrated with this printer. Pretty sure all the glowing reviews are written after using the printer for the first time. The printer will constantly "forget" wireless network settings and its sleep feature grinds with the drivers in windows so that the printer appears offline even though its been woken up. This printer has seriously taken months off my life from stress. Stay far away.

I have been more than satisfied with this Pro 8100 for close to 3 years now. I especially like the expanding paper supply tray for 8.5 x 14 paper and duplex printing (in 8.5 x 11 only). Best if using quality inkjet paper and kept clean. It is still working nearly flawless. I plan to get an all-in-one soon, but intend to use the Pro8100 as my home office work horse for as long as it lasts.

I had the printer for a couple of years, but saw light use. Just turned it on one day and it has a print head error. After some basic troubleshooting and cleaning ,tossed it out. New Print head cost more than a new printer. I have generally been satisfied with HP printers over the years.

The printer performs OK for the price point. Setup for the printer was easy and it was working after just a few steps. If you plan to use the printer for just about any printing you will need to set the default printer quality setting to best. Printing using the normal option causes light and dark lines as the page prints. The printer will print back to back using standard letter size, but will not print back to back legal sized paper. In fact legal sized paper is poorly handled as the output tray is really to short. Overall it is an OK printer for the price point.

We purchased this printer to be used in a different room because we already have an 8620 which is the same printer with all-in-one features. Both printers perform beautifully, and as a bonus, they share the same ink cartridges!

I have always been happy with HP Products. I decided to purchase this printer on line and experienced a two week delay of using this printer. When we received the first shipment, our IT Tech have trouble installing this printer. The printer was defective. Printer would not turn on when plugged. We called for a replacement. Replacement was delivered when defective printer was picked up. Next time I am going to purchase HP Products at Office depot because of their return policy. I am surprised your inspectors did not pick up this problem before it left your factory!

The 8100 does what we want it to do by copying from the laptop or desktop. But there is the discovery it doesn't print copies except THRU the computer. You can't lift the lid and make copies the "old fashioned way". Need a quick copy of a receipt? Gotta scan it first and then print it. Can't just make a copy on the printer.

I wanted a simple yet quality printer. I don't have a second line for a fax nor need to make photocopies. My ______ printer, with multitasking, was hard to use and always talking to me for no reason. I've always had great luck with HP products and would have bought this model had I seen it in (big box) store.

I returned this printer after a few days of listening to clanking, clonking and other undesirable noises. prior to delivering an acceptable print. I initially bought it because of the low price and I needed a wireless printer to replace my HP laserjet 1505.This printer was ready for a new drum system after working with no problems for many years. The price of the new drum was about the same as the 8100. I also had problems linking it to my wireless network. After a few days I decided the 1505v was more desirable and returned the 8100.

It started about two years ago with the purchase of it's big brother the Hp8600 all in one pro. After initial setup, the 8600 was such a great printer that when I had need of a second printer for production work, I immediately looked at the Hp 8100 as a possibility. It has the same basic configuration as the 8600, it just didn't have the scan, copy and fax features which I had no need to duplicate. Perfect! It used the same printer cartridges as the 8600. This reduced my inventory of printers cartridges for backup by 50%! It installed without a hiccup, wirelessly and has operated flawlessly for about the past two years. I often have both printers working together at the same time. The occasional paper jam is usually operator error. When it came time to replace my husband's old photosmart printer (too slow but still prints good photos), I didn't hesitate to search out the best pricing on the 8100 and send in my order. We haven't had time to unpack and set it up, but I expect the same quality of product the third time around. If I had to come up with a negative, the printers are on the noisy side. If you need quiet--shhhush, the baby is asleep-- then you might want to reconsider. However, if durability, reliability, and cost are factors, then the HP 8100 is for you.

Worked right out of the box for about 6 months, it interfaced with all my computers right away and the features were excellent. Then the problems started, flase paper jams or the carriage would not go all the way back without manually pushing it to the right into position. Every day I would clean the maching as per instructions, it would print flawlessly for about 20 pages, then if it was not used for more than 3 hours, it would false jam again. If it made it through the day, it would not work the next day until I took it apart and cleaned it again - very frustrating. Product support was no help, they repeatedly told me to clean it. I finally concluded the ink seems to clog up the works and makes it not work properly after the ink dries to interior surfaces, thus the required daily cleaning. I finally gave up on it and disconnedted it. I have had over 6 HP Printers over the years, this is the first one that has not worked as it was supposed to, perhaps it's a lemon, but it has really soured me from buying another one! I have read many reviews here and elsewhere of others with the same or similar problems, it must have some sort of inherent flaw. When it worked, the print was excellent, sharp, crisp, and the dupelxor worked great, it is just an unreliable printer that requires too much mainenance! I have only used HP Inks - no refills and the recommended types of paper.

We always purchase HP. Our last printer was an HP6980, only $69 and it lasted us eight years! I looked and looked for another printer that uses the same cartridge, but couldn't find one :( We have an internet business and print a LOT of paper every day. When it finally started choking, I looked around and found this - had great reviews - the only drawback, and it really isn't that bad, is the paper holder doesn't lift up to fill the paper tray - you have to manually close it and open the tray below - to print envelopes you have to empty it and fill with envelopes; you can't print one at a time. The paper tray is twice as deep as our old printer, which I like, and it has a gauge to track ink levels in the cartridges. There's nothing like printing postage and looking up and seeing the page too pale to use. I like that the color cartridges are separate - you only have to replace the color that is empty and could be a savings. It does print double sided - don't know how yet, but that's a neat feature! So far I'm very happy - it's three times as fast as my old HP and the black cartridge is a little larger so should last three weeks instead of two (printing 50 to 100 pages per day plus postage labels). I had it set up and printing in twenty minutes.

I needed a replacement HP printer for my old one that was not compatible with my new OSX operation system, so I called HP and this printer was recommended. They were right! It's fast, easy to understand and print quality is excellent. I couldn't be happier.

Great Price! e-printing is a nice feature. Paper tray holds a lot. I like the compact size. What I do not like is having to take the tray completely out to put in letterhead or envelopes. Changing paper types is a huge hassle. In my older printer I could just lift the top and switch out (much more convenient). My previous printer was an Officejet Pro 8000.

This printer is really good if you only use one size paper. If you want to use different size paper, or envelopes it is not easy to change as you have to unload the entire paper tray. It would be nice to have a single sheet feeder for envelopes and odd size/weight paper. Also the footprint is very large. The print quality has been very good so far.

A basic printer, nothing fancy -- but it's very fast, print output is very good, and the large capacity ink cartridges are very economical in the long run. Even draft mode is surprisingly good...because of this, we use draft mode for our in-house docs (and of course, for drafts), which saves even more on ink. This printer permits printing up to the edge on regular paper. Choose borderless printing and output quality in the advanced options first though, then the paper type afterwards, else it will default to photo paper. Note, sometimes the print at the very bottom edge of the paper is not as crisp as it should be (i.e., slightly blurred); even so, we find the output still generally acceptable. The printer can auto output two-sided copies. Two-sided printing is also very quick, and this HP manages it without offsetting the print on the page as some earlier HP models were prone to do. We've had the printer for a short time but have printed a good number of reams of paper through it already. It rarely jams, maybe four total so far. When jams do occur, they are amazingly easy to clear: Pop off the rear duplexer (the paper routes through it even when not printing two-sided), remove the paper (comes right out, no hard pulling or tearing), pop the duplexer back on, and go. I wish our other printers had been as simple to clear! (Some printer jams were nightmarish situations involving multiple access points that still didn't provide enough access.) On the downside, the printer has a fairly large footprint. Also, there is no rear paper feed slot; everything must be fed through the paper tray in front. To print different sized paper or envelopes, the paper already in the tray must be removed to load the new media so the paper guides can be adjusted. (A second tray can be purchased separately.) Setup was easy enough; and it's operating fine, completely wireless, with multiple computers using Win 7 and XP. Overall, the printer has proven to be fast and economical while providing good output. We're very pleased with it.

Highly recommended.

This printer was easy to set up. It has excellent print quality and print speed. I especially like the fact that each of the colors has its own ink cartridge.
Great product at a good price!
