The only consistent action is the ability to disconnect from the computer despite the fact is is connected via cable and on the same network. I have to power off/power the printer on every couple days to reconnect which is quite inconvenient.

Had this for years. HP updates to using web services through a server and removal of web scan to my PC as well as the infamous off line problem (requires a reboot) turned a once good printer into a dog. Went to different brand.

The printer has been great up to this point. Now it has a printer head issue. The funny thing is, when I unplug the unit and plug it back it's able to print a test page before the error shows up again. What is that about? And the printer head is as much as the printer? If I can't get this going, then I will be in the market for a new one. I'm 100% certain it won't be an HP.

I've had this printer for over 10 years and has worked great. However if one printer cartridge is depleted it will not print documents which a huge inconvenience. Their should be a way to override this feature especially if most of the time the black cartridges are used.

What a garbage product. First of all we bought 2 of these printers. One for me & one for my fathers house, so two different networks & PC's, but both PC's are HP's. These printers dont stay connected to network for two days straight. I've spent more time trying to reconnect to network & printer claiming it cant find PC on the same network as the night before. I know HP going to claim it has to do with firewall blocking it. But I've done that route already too and sure enough after adding it to allowed devices on antivirus the printer died the next day. What a waste of money. We have an Epson at work and zero issues once we connected to network, 2 years & its only lost connecting once with the same antivirus on our PC's. I will never buy an HP printer again!!!!

I bought this 4 years ago for a premium. It’s been used an average amount, and now it won’t print because of a “printhead” error. A cursory search online finds this to be a common fault of this machine. It’s hundreds of dollars to replace, but why would I do that when I can buy a new printer for way less. Then this goes to the landfill.

Apparently, if you look up the matter in forums, the phantom jam in the ADF document feeder has been a real issue with this model. It does not matter if I do the suggested fixes, the computer still comes up with the error and it frequently can't be cleared. Last time we took it in for repair and it came out working for a few weeks. Then we were able to reset it ourselves a few times. Now the error appears to be fatal. Nothing is jammed in the document feeder, and the printer will not function.

I bought this printer five years ago and had I not paid so much money for it I'd have recycled it a long time ago. It does have almost all the features I like in a printer. A feature it doesn't have is a separate feed drawer for photo papers. Its main trade mark seemed to be paper jams. The were days I needed to print several hundred pages. When the printer worked right, I could print 100 pages in 50 minutes. But there were days when I couldn't get out more than 50 pages and I spent lots of time on the phone with HP support people who were always polite and helped. This product is discontinued, probably with good cause, but there are lots of new ones available. If you are looking for a bargain price on a discontinued product, avoid this one like the plague!

The print head is out (tried new ink, re-calibrated, re-aligned & cleaned). Still no luck, having blurred fonts and images. Will not spend my valuable time or money on this series of HP printer again. I have other HP's that are work horses & will buy those instead.

had it for two years. Daily you either have to restart the printer or run Scan Doc to fix it. Load paper poorly, always defaults to use the colored ink (even on b&w), but at least the print quality and functionality suck. DO NOT BUY ONE!!!!!

This printer easy to set up, and wireless connection established without problems. I was very disappointed that it does not print pictures as my previous printer did, I did not realize that was missing until I got the printer. Also, I miss the copy feature my last printer had, I am unable to copy pages from magazines or from newspapers. I will have to find some other way to do those tasks.

My printer arrived quickly and was easy to install. The print quality is very good. It does everything I ask it to do. It is a little slow to start printing and it seems to stop in the middle of print jobs to take a breath but, all in all, I like this printer.

Bought this printer at a great price. It has excellent features and work and prints very well. The only problem is this printer is not supported in Windows 10 which I did not know at the time of purchase. I have a computer which will not support windows 10 so there is no problem, I just have two printers for two computers.

My 7310 printer/scanner wore out, and the 8620 is the replacement. The print and copy speed is great, and the images are excellent. I was in the middle of a scanning project when I installed the 8620 and was able to continue that project with no problems. I am on Windows 10 and had the usual frustrations with drivers but the downloads from HP worked. I chose to hard-wire the printer to our network, knowing from past experience with an HP 7610 that wireless can be troublesome ("unavailable"). I am not interested in the auto ink ordering, and was glad I had done enough web research to know how to avoid getting signed up for that. Like our other HP printers, the 8620 is picky about paper and often feeds multiple pages at one time. We gave up on recycled paper and have had no problems with HP 24lb paper. I would like to be able to completely turn off the Fax capability and eliminate the unused fax in my list of devices. It looks like it will be as good a workhorse as the 7310, and I like the speed.

This Officejet has all the features anyone would need ... it's extremely easy to install and to use! It runs quietly and quickly! And I love the logical control screen ... no need to study instructions.

All good so far, easy to set up and have just printed out a photo which is great. When registering online I found the great special - virtually half price! In future I will check sites prior to buying anything rather than buying retail. I used labels in my last printer (HP6520) and they stuck to the rollers, from this incident onward I had continual paper jams; this is an upgrade so am looking forward to hassle free performance.

Wish had second tray or a single sheet feed. To print envelope have to empty paper tray. Paper tray catches on output tray. Several times have to turn off and back on so it reconnects to computer. Have to leave it disconnected from phone line as it thinks some cell phone calls are faxes.

So HP took the HP Officejet Pro 8600 series printers with a beautifully designed exterior and excellent features (except for a problematic printhead reported by many users including me that they didn't fix), and downgraded it to what they now call the HP Officejet Pro 8620 for the 8600 Plus (and 8630 for the 8600 Premium). Not only is the boxy design of the 8620 uglier compared to the old 8600 Plus (and the 8630 compared to the 8600 Premium), they stripped the printer memory down from 512MB to 128MB, and so the scan resolution went down from 4800x4800 dpi to 1200x1200 dpi and printing is much slower than advertised. Btw the beautiful 8600 Plus is now marketed under a new name HP Offficejet Pro 276dw. A quick search will tell you all you need to know about the problem with the printheads. Without it, your printer is effectively a piece of furniture…at least the 8600 Plus and Premium look beautiful. My advice is since the printerhead costs as much as the printer, I wouldn’t buy this series of printers until HP can offer reasonably priced printhead replacements, in case your printhead dies after the warranty expires...which is likely.

These printers have big issues with paper jams and ink cartridges and the duplex component. Also, when a color cartridge runs out.. it won't print even if you use black ink only option?? The 86xx series is by far the worst printer you could buy. I was offered a $50 gift card for all my troubles, I don't need to buy more trouble. Thank you

This printer worked very well for a home office, while it worked. Love the ease of double sided printing and copying. Ink plan was great. Unfortunately over the 2 years of owning this we had problems with the automatic feeder, and now it does not work at all.

This product does offer great features, but performance is underwhelming and I've had several issues that I needed tech support and online assistance to resolve. I've wasted reams of paper and lots of ink troubleshooting this printer. Wireless printing has been unreliable, slow and sometimes it prints the whole document and sometimes it doesn't. Scan to computer feature is sporadic as well. I've had this printer less than two months and I have spent hours troubleshooting the problems. I would not recommend this printer to anyone.

This printer does EVERYTHING it says it does, double-sided printing, prints from my phone, fax shared with a phone line, etc. No problem setup, easy breezy. And it looks professional with a clean design. If I had to have a critical word, it would be documentation. I'm not sure what that usb port on the front of it is... Good job, HP

The Officejet Pro 8620 was purchased for my home office. The features are exceptional. It scans to email addresses as well as to my own. The paper feeder and printing speed is fast. The two-sided printing feature saves paper and is fast also. The only feature not tested is the fax. The set-up was quick and easy and I started to use it immediately. The envelope and photo paper feeder works great. I was blown away when I discovered the paper tray extends to handle legal size paper. I am thrille...
