I have 2 of these printers. It will not print on heavy paper or envelopes without mistakes almost every time. Very disappointed with the quality all around.

This printer cannot handle 65lb cardstock well, although the specs state it can handle 90-110lbs card. The paper tends to cause the printer to jam even with one page of cardstock in the tray. I purchased this printer new and I have had to exchange this printer three times due to ink leaking on my print jobs. I would not purchase this printer again.

I bought this printer for light business use. It worked fine until some idiot decided you have to use HP Smart app to get the printer to work. It is not HP Smart. It is HP DUMB because it is the biggest waste of time, production killing move HP has ever made. Why should I have to install the app which does not work more than half the time when I use to be able to go to the printer, click on the panel and get the job done with out all the waste of time. I am selling both HP and I will buy a Cannon, Epson, Brothers but never again will I own an HP. They are now a piece of junk.

I've had an 8610 since they came out. Great printer, so the 8710 new model is even better, right? Wrong. If you're printing exclusively on letter, 20lb paper, it does ok. However, if you have the audacity to want to print on something like card stock or Avery label paper, forget it. This junk can't handle it.

Bought this printer some years back. I only print black and white. Do I need to have all the color cartridges to be able to print black and white?

I had initially purchased this printer, a few years back, for the amount of pages It can print for the low cost. For the last 2 years, I have noticed that the pages were getting less for the same 951 and 952 xl ink cartridges, and my color inks are finishing quicker with only black print outs. One big draw back is that you cannot print black only, when any of the color ink cartridges is empty. The ink cartridges are now approx. $250 for 3 color and 2 black. About the cost of a new printer. I do not think I will be purchasing another HP printer in the future as I can't help feel that the following are occurring, printing color ink with black ink to waste ink, reduced the amount filled in the ink cartridge, or systematically control the life of ink and force consumer to purchase ink at an earlier time than required. I would never know which is it, but what I do know is that I am no longer getting the amount of pages printing and I am being forced to purchase color ink to print black only printouts. Hence, this is probably why HP has an ink cartridge program to automate the consumer spending. The printer is quite good for printouts and scans but the draining of the ink is something to look out for.

My wife and I absolutely loved this printer. It did everything we needed. She used it to print her school work and class activities for her kids. It sat for about 4 months not used the kept getting an error: "Print head missing or misalligned" Apparently, this is a VERY common problem with HP inkjet type printers. Took it to an officer HP repair tech who said he could replace the print head for about $120 but it will happen again. He recommended I just dump it in the trash even though it printed less than 3000 sheets of paper. HIGHLY disappointed. It's like HP intentionally designed the printers to fail and make you buy a new one every 3 years.

I bought this printer a year ago and have had nothing but problems. Errors with ink cartridges, firmware updates not coming through, print jobs getting stuck in queue paper jams etc. and don?t count on hp technical support to help. The BOT they have on the customer support page is worthless and unless your a geek you can forget About ?troubleshooting?. I?ll never buy an HP printer again!

Have had this printer for 3 years, every time (not an exaggeration) I try to print I have to go and do a complete reset of the printer and sometimes it works. Awful would not recommend.

Now since I've had to upgrade to Windows 10 the drivers and constant issues are a real pain. I have this printer at home and at a small office. At both locations I have to deal with connect issues (only since Windows 10). I downloaded the most current full driver package 3 days ago and now the Auto Document Feeder only feeds 1 page at a time and I have click Add page to make it continue. Microsoft has been arrogant and worthless for product support for years, but this represents a new failure for HP. There should be better support for problems like this. Actually these issues with standard features like ADF should not happen.

I've had this printer for a few years, and HP decided to update the firmware to NOT allow aftermarket ink, forcing you to ONLY use their overpriced ink. DONT BUY

I bought this computer around Christmas 2018, and it arrived some time close to the new year 2019. But because I print so infrequently at home -- and because I hard a printer already -- I didn't even end up setting it up. It just stayed packed in the factory box and sitting in my home office, while I kept using my other slower and cheaper printer. Well, enter the Coronavirus of 2020! Once I started working from home long-term, I finally set up this printer on March 27, 2020. Well less than 10 months later -- this printer has had a complete hardware failure. The touchscreen no longer works (just blinks white) -- rendering this useless for faxing, scanning, copying, web, etc. The only thing I can do is send a basic print signal from a device (and even that took 2 hours with Tech Support) to be able to do. Sadly for me, this printer's warranty had expired before I even took it out the box (January 2020 v. March 2020), and now here I am with a basically worthless machine! This machine has probably printed a total of ... I dunno, maybe 30 pages since I set it up, and it has been operational for about 10.5 months max. I'm so disappointed and disgusted! Never again will I buy another HP printer. NEVER AGAIN!

I have had this printer for a couple of years. I purchased it based on specs that it would handle cardstock with ease. This is NOT the case. I have had printing disaster after disaster trying to print on cardstock. It simply will not pick up. The majority of my printing is crafting projects, so this leaves me very disappointed. If there is a fix out there for this, I would love to know. I am now moving on to another brand that can handle my needs. Sorry, HP...but this does not do what is touted.

I originally loved this printer but for some reason it always shows it can't be reached, it's not connected, or some other type of error. It'll print an inch of the page or not at all. Was a big investment for our business and kind of a dud plus customer service hadn't ever helped.. Hopefully not user error since the rest of the reviews seem good.

Ink using XL is great! Printing on REGULAR paper awesome (but likes to jam a lot or margins are off)! Printing on card stock, envelopes, or any photo paper AWFUL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had the 8610 printer and it worked great for "ALL" kinds of thicknesses of paper so when my 8610 dies; I bought the new modle. what a mistake!.. It is the worst printer I have ever owned. I have wasted so much EXPENSIVE photo paper, card stock, and envelopes ~ it is just pathetic! Paper jams galore! Every piece of consecutive paper either jams or the margins are different on each paper printed. It works great when it wants to; however, I would NOT and NEVER recommend this printer.

For whatever reason I have to delete the software and download it again, because my comp and the printer just stop communicating.

Since I have had this printer, I've had trouble with it printing "double vision" pages. I've done numerous diagnostics with HP, with none of them fixing the problem. They eventually replaced it with a reconditioned one, and this one is worse! It gives me error messages constantly, and you have to turn it off, then back on the get it to work. It's out of warranty so I'm stuck with it. I waste many instant ink copies and paper from reprinting blurry pages. My previous, but similar HP model was awesome!

Great printer. Loved the setup, did everything I needed it to, got in on a sale. I actually like the HP Instant ink - no complaints there! But now it is a very expensive E-waste BRICK. Blue screen with an error code that isn't worth the time of day of me trying to figure out how to fix it (I've come to the conclusion that no one on google knows, but have had similar problems with no hope of fixing it, after 3 hrs of troubleshooting - my time is more valuable).

It started out great but a few months into it I have Had nothing but problems. It will not connect to my cell phone. If it does I end up having to restart the app to get it to scan a document. I have been trying to scan 7 pages for an hour without success.

Won’t print unless all cartridges all full (even if you want to print black and white you cannot print if other cartridges are at a low or empty) slow in printing. Grate in scanning to computer though.

I purchased this printer from Costco about 3 years ago. My other brand printer died in the middle of doing taxes the day before they were due. Ran to Costco, bought this printer at a good price for the money. It was quick to setup, even over WiFi and was printing within about 15 minutes after getting it home. I have since used it to scan a lot of things into my computer while going paperless. Works like a charm, even many pages of financial statements. Never jams or skips a page while scanning or copying. I love WiFi and it works great! My desktop and laptop both work great with it, anywhere in the house. The quality is good for the money. I have printed some pictures for best quality and found they turned out good. I want to scan in some old Polaroid pictures someday before they loose their color and I think this scanner/printer will do a good job. Also the support at HP was great today, when I asked in a chat session if I could print an iron-on transfer. I will see soon. They told me as long as the product I was printing on said it was InkJet compatible, then OK!

The 8710 seems to be not as sturdy as 8600 and I have to press the screen a few times to go where I want to.

I've had this thing for about a year, and it's junk. Never works right the first try. Drops wi-fi, guzzles ink like crazy, won't allow grayscale print, chews up paper like a fiend, and freezes up. Never been able to just print a quick document without a big production. Makes lots of noise and rattling as if it were 3D printing a Buick just to spit out 1 copy (if you're lucky).

A Work Horse!
By kad277
So far it's working good! Had trouble getting the printer to stay online at first but a firmware update fix that problem. Haven't used all of the features yet but love this work horse! This is my first business all in one printer and the experience has been great. Just use the automatic sheet feeder to copy 35 pages all in one job and it handled it nicely. Looking forward to using the 2 sided copy and scan features and more!! AirPrint ,ePrint works good too!!
I think the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 is terrific!

I have the HP OfficeJet 8610 at my other home in NM, I was very pleased with the performance and ease of use and set-up. When my old printer here in Florida began to have issues I started looking for a Sale on the 8710's. I missed a Sale at Staples, so I went direct to the HP online Store and it was still on sale there with Free shipping. I love that the paper tray holds a 1/2 ream of paper and the 8710 prints two-sided and a lot faster than the 8610. I would say that I am a very satisfied cu...
