We have two HP laser printers, one BW and one color. We always order a back up each time a toner cartridge is empty. We recycle the old one and install the new one. I've been doing this for years and years and we've never had a problem with HP Toner.

51X works as expected; no black streaks. It is more expensive than the knockoffs, which almost always have problems.

I am a penny pincher and have tried discount toner cartridges. Quite frankly, it's pretty hit or miss if what you get is worth even the discount price. The last cartridge I got for my current printer left marks all over my print jobs. Being a penny pincher I put up with it for the life of the cartridge but regretted my decision with every piece of paper that came out of the machine. When it was time for a new cartridge I looked around for discounted cartridges but eventually settled on the dual pack through HP because it was a really good price. Also, with free shipping it came the morning after I ordered it, which is really saying something because where I live that is typically never an option.

I ordered the toner thinking I would get a lot more usage that the A. Unfortunately, the X doesn't work with the 4240n although the botton sticker gave the impression it would work. When I went to return it, because I bought it ahead of time, I was beyound the 21 days return policy. It took over an hour with people I could bearly understand. So, I guess I was lucky to only get a restocking fee even though I had bought more than 8 printrers for my company & only order HP toners for them.
