You will love it!

So easy to use. Throw something off the screen to delete it or close it. Beautiful screen, does'nt smudge either. Battery life is great compared to my Nookcolor. You must get the eprinter, I did & everything syncs ,uploads to my touchpad!!!Easy. I want one for each of my grandsons, just can't get them yet. Would love to get them each the compatible cell phone as well. Buy it you will love it!

I'm lovin' it! Could use some more apps but I'm hoping more will be released. I absolutely love the kindle app. Great to use at work. Surfing is fun and easy. Son has stolen it the last few days. Hoping my other one arrives soon.

Incredible price. Great product!

When i heard the announcement of the dropping of the Touchpad from the HP lineup, I figured there would be a sale - but not to this extent. I was one of the first to get in my order. After receiving the shipment I quickly opened and turned on the tablet. After loading an update and minimizing the logging of the TP activities to a minimum, I noticed an increase in performance. This is one sturdy OS. I really hope HP continues to develop this Palm-based OS to give it the recognition it deserves.

Better than the iPad

I haven't had either for very long and bought it for my dad basically for email, surfing the web, and Facebook. I think the Touchpad beats my iPad2 on these 3 features. For $99, I'm over the moon!

Awesome tablet

$99...this tablet was a steal! I use it for email, web, twitter, facebook and skype. Awesome! App store is developing, so far I have lots of useful apps. Don't need apps for everything since most of it works online thru the web browser. Love the fact that it is easy to customize using preware. It's really fast and smooth. Wish it had: Video out to TV; apps for audible/netflix; arrow keys on the keyboard; I'm really glad I got in on this deal.

Touchpad 16gb

Wow. this is an awesome tablet at the price of $99 for the 16gb and you can install the custom firmware to speed the device, though it's lack of apps. like Android to run in your device.

Great Buy at $99

I have thoroughly enjoyed my Touchpad since it was delivered. I had been lusting after a different tablet but the price was far out of my reach so, naturally, I leapt face-first on the firesale. This is my first experience with webOS and it has been rather pleasant. I feel that it should have been developed further before being offered in tablet form, however. It can be a bit buggy at times, but when it's responsive, it blows everything else away. It seems as though the webOS ecosystem just isn't ready for prime-time yet. There are many apps that *should* be available but just aren't. The browser is seriously lacking. Honestly, if I had paid full price for a Touchpad, I would have been irate. The TP itself is wonderful, but the functionality is limited by the available apps and lack of support for many file-types and codecs. Without expandable memory and with no dedicated data-transfer USB port, I honestly think that the hardware could have been better thought out. As it is, for $99, this was a wonderful purchase. I have no problem finding wireless networks and getting online. I enjoy the responsiveness, when it is there. Most e-readers cost more than this and cannot do half of what the TP can do. As well, the app selection and native support promises only to get better with so many webOS tablets out there. There are several dedicated groups trying to enhance the TP's functionality even as we speak. With this kind of enthusiasm, the Touchpad has the potential to go very far. End result: For the price, this was an amazing deal and I am thoroughly satisfied.

Would not recommend

Not a deal, even at $100. Screen came with pixels that are permanently white which are very annoying when either using it as an E-Reader, or watching movies. Major light bleed around the edges of the screen. Operating system is buggy and I can't even get the rotation lock to function correctly all the time, it'll just turn itself off sometimes! Sound is great though, so I suppose that's something.

Price is Right but lack performance

This HP Touchpad is my very first tablet, although I've played with others before through friends and family members. When I first received the Touchpad, I already knew to upgrade to the latest firmware for faster and more reliable performance. The product wasn't bad out-of-the-box, but it was definitely lacking behind competitors. It was also heavier than other tablets out there. Even after all the firmware updates, my Touchpad was still sluggish. Internet browser took longer then expected to load; pictures imported from Facebook was arranged in reverse order without the possibility to re-sort. WiFi connected fine on my home router, but every time I brought the Touchpad out of sleep mode, its WiFi stopped functioning (even though it said it was still connected to my router.) I had to manually disable and then enable my WiFi connection in order for my internet to load again. And of course, all the browser pages I had viewed before going into sleep mode were lost. The biggest mystery of the Touchpad to me is the lack of cursor keys on the keyboard. Even as I was typing this review on my Touchpad and needed to edit my paragraph, I had to touch the exact spot on the screen in order to edit my text. How inconvenient. All of these issues were known to the HP development team. Hopefully there will be improvements on the next firmware release.

Not bad for $99

Coming from an Ipad to this I have to say it really isn't worth much more than $99. I find the Web OS to be clunky have hiccups and freeze ups, Dont get me wrong, its definately worth it at $99.. but I would never recommend one to anyone if they had to pay more, there is a reason they decided to dump the platform and it shows.

I wish they had patience

This product suffers from four shortfalls. 1. No patience by management 2. Young app community -- not enough apps yet 3. No GPS 4. No camera app That said, most companies would be jealous to be in this position. The lack of GPS is the only thing that would require a new device. The lack of a camera app should be an easy fix. Apps were being developed, especially considering HP's strategy on the software front. Now for the strengths: 1. Battery life 2. Slick look 3. Can access it as a network mounted drive 4. Hackable 5. Color ereader 6. Mostly intuitive UI 7. Touch keyboard with numbers 8. Phone shows ALL contacts (Skype, phone etc.) 9. Can tether to phone for calls Note: it take a minute or so to get used to closing apps by sliding them off the top. Suggestions: 1. Keep making them 2. Add GPS 3. Provide a camera app 4. Allow categorization of apps -- three panels is weak give me folders, labels or something 5. Allow contact filter to select users that are online 6. Add close app to the menu 7. Provide a pdf app that allows annotating the document 8. Do something with the desktop -- let me customize it somehow. It's empty and waiting for innovation. Overall, I'm impressed with how fast this has achieved so much. A bit of a patience might get this product somewhere.

Good product if you know how to use

Most attractive part is the price. The IPS screen, 4:3 screen ratio, build quality are definitely highlights of the product. The battery is fine but not good as IPAD2. No SD slot is somewhat concerned. The major weakness is in the software. I in fact love the webOS at the first place because I was a palm fan before. I am very happy that flash can be opened by the browser and you do not have to install individual apps for different website as IOS. But that is it. Out of box the system is sluggish and you have to do some research to turn off the logging; the update was very difficult to complete without problems; the language support is poor. More important is that there are not many apps available comparing to either IOS or Android. Many people like to have option to read books, but HP is weak on this. Maybe because apple and amazon are both selling books but HP does not have a partner. The bottom line is that after tuning, it is good enough for simple web surfing, video streaming, emails, and limited gaming. It could be better if HP had been more dedicated on the webOS development.

Touchpad with webOS is nice

Overall it's a nice table, which is made from quality hardware component. The display is nice. The performance is good enough for most of tasks. Definitely it worth more than $99. Actually a lot of people will consider buying it for $199. HP management made mistake on the firesale price. It lost more. WebOS itself overall experience is excellent, especially its multi-windows/tasks management system(card based) is very easy to use. Yes, it's too late to the party to compete effectively with Android and iOS. However, it should not be difficult to leverage Android ecosystem if WebOS can run Android Apps. Many users would love this tablet and stay with WebOS. The only issue is the localization. It can display Chinese in the browser, but all menus, labels of the OS and Apps can not be changed to Chinese. I give 4 star rating because of this. Otherwise, I would rate it 5 stars. HP probably made a strategy mistake. There is no way to sell it at $499, and $399. It may be able to sell some for $299, definitely will sell a lot at $199. For $299 price probably it's close to its hardware cost. Since HP is too late to the market, it has to price aggressively in order to be in the game. Now HP quits the game with the firesale $99. Everyone loves it for $99 price.

A Mixed Bag

Comparing the Touchpad to any other tablet on the market is completely unfair considering the vast divide in development for the operating systems. Simply put, WebOS does not have the market that either the iPad or even the Android tablets do, and this limitation in app selection severely hinders the utility of the product. That said, this product still has a mixed bag of positives and negatives and I would recommend it with a caveat. On a positive note, WebOS has potential to be a very intuitive and useful tablet operating system. The syncing across separate systems for email and messaging are fantastic and are extremely impressive. The tablet is also well put together; although plastic and a finger print magnet, I feel it holds its own against earlier generation tablets and the screen has fantastic viewing angles. However, considering the competition, the performance on this tablet is seriously lacking. General application usage is slower than what might be expected, and the browser falls well behind the standards available on other competing operating systems. My other smart devices that are much less impressive on a spec sheet will handily outperform this tablet for the majority of what I desire to do (web browser, email, messaging). All said, I don't regret the purchase and would recommend the product at the sale price I received. However, in competing terms, this tablet does not fare well against the iPad or Android in a number of aspects. Although WebOS does have many strong points and the tablet feels solid, it simply isn't worth investing in a lagging ecosystem and sluggish performance.

fire sale hp touchpad is win

for the fire sale price the hp touchpad is a no brainer. its quite fun, it is on the heavy side for a tablet. I use it for adobe reader, kindle, games, web browsing and it does all those things flawlessly. its a shame HP did not take a small loss out right to gain marketshare when they first released the touchpad. if you can still get it, I approve wholeheartedly at the 99 149 price points. good luck.

Love my Touchpad!

I've been using my Touchpad for a week. It is so much easier to view than my smartphone, so I use it whenever I have a WIFI connection. I was easily able to connect my FaceBook and Google accounts, which have all my contacts. I'm still figuring out navigation a bit. Found some good free apps to download. All in all, I'm very happy with the Touchpad, expecially at the fantastic price of under $100! I highly recommend it!

Great pad...no iPad 2 Killer

Of all the pads on the market...this will have to be number 2. Second only to the giant iPad 2. What's holding it back? Apps! Where are the apps!? Its Os is slower also...not slow slow...but noticeable comparing to the giant. Whats great!? Everything else. The quality, the hardware it packs, and the simple to use webOs. Its foolproof! Too bad they marketed it wrong. It should had been marketed to business people, as it is great at emails, printing! (yes...wireless printing..try that ipad!), stock watchers, and other neat little things that will make your business life so much easier. The screen is gorgeous! It plays full 1080p without hiccups. My gripe...it should had been a widescreen format for movies...but hey...if you do that...then it wouldn't work as well for books, notes, etc. A working man's pad. Oh yeah...buy the touchstone charging dock and the keyboard. Awesome accessories. A great pad...let down by a small app store =(

Great Device!

I've been using the touchpad as mostly a couch surfing device, it's idealy suited for just that. It'll be much easier to bring with me when I travel as opposed to the laptop as well. I've also thoroughly enjoyed the various games and apps as well. Overall, I'm tremendously happy with the product and I'm glad I purchased it.

Awesome... if you can get it.

This is the best product that HP ever made by a mile... it's just too bad that they never gave it a shot. Let's hope that they spin off the hardware portion and license the webOS back to the group quickly to get more of these out there. Final Word: A deal at three times the price. Get it!

Awesome Product

The is the best pad I've ever seen! The keyboard is great and pops just when you need it. All of the Apps are also great! I love Facebook on it, the internet, email and all of the free apps through the app catalogue and pre central. I love watching movies on it and being able to minimize them to do something else and then being able to pop right back in to where you were. It's the first thing I pick up when I get home. Oh, and yes, my husband loves playing Angry Birds on it.

An excellent iPad alternative. Love webOS.

I have owned the HP TouchPad for 3 weeks now and absolutely love webOS on a tablet. It just flows better than any mobile operating system on the market... anyone who lives with it for over two weeks will understand. For those who want hundreds of thousands of mostly useless apps, then this isn't the tablet for you. But if you want to see a product that realizes a potential that's far beyond what's being offered on the market in the foreseeable future, the TouchPad is an excellent bet. Easy to...
