Pretty Good, Low Cost Option
I purchased this as a low cost option along with a small tray to mount my gopro (with macro lense) and an Ikelite Gamma. Overall it's pretty solid, meaning it worked well in certain settings. I was very surprised that I didn't really need two Ikelites to illuminate low light areas and I was a little disappointed during the night dive that the light was actually TOO intense. The diffuser is supposed to remedy the spotlight effect of the 10 degree LED, but at night anything closer that a foot is completely bleached out. I did get some good video at a foot or more, looking under crevices for eels and such. But the macro shots at night are blah. That said, close focus was not bleached during the day, both in and out of a couple wrecks and on the reef so that was great. I think when I add a few more locline sections I'll be able to angle the light away from the subject and not bleach it out.
I wish there was a drain plug for the locline. As it is you have to disconnect a section to drain and rinse after a dive. And don't tighten the light down too much or the thumb screw will slip. You don't really need to though. That's really it. This is a good little setup that I will use on many more dives.
