I did a lot of research before laying down [$] for a strobe. I do a lot of traveling to foreign SCUBA destinations, but underwater photography being a hobby, I did not want something too large or elaborate. This setup is perfect and has helped me capture some fantastic images.

Ikelite Substrobe DS-51 (TTL) for Digital & Film Cameras
The Ikelite DS51 Substrobe replaces the DS50, which has been a favorite of underwater photographers the world over. In addition to incorporating all the same great features of the DS50, the DS51 provides a Manual Exposure Mode with six (6) manual power settings in one-half f-stop increments for precise illumination of subjects underwater.
The compact, lightweight and affordable Ikelite DS51 Substrobe is an excellent choice for many underwater photographers. Its digitalelectronics make it fully compatible with digital cameras as well as traditional film cameras such as the Nikonos. The strobe can easily switch between TTL/Auto and any of the six (6) manual power settings for complete control over lighting the subject. The DS51's intensity and angle of coverage make it equally suited for macro and general photography. The strobe's wide-angle diffuser increases the angle-of-coverage up to 80 degrees, softens the light and helps to reduce backscatter. The DS51 Substrobe's power rivals strobes twice its size, recycles in a quick 3.5 seconds, and provides 200+ flashes ona set of batteries. Much shorter recycle times and more flashes per set of batteries can be realized during TTL/Auto operation.
When connected with a sync cord to compatible Ikelite housings, or the Nikonos camera system, the DS51 Substrobe offers TTL/Auto andManual Mode When used with other manufacturers housings, the DS51 Substrobe can only be used in the Manual Mode utilizing the six (6) power settings.
Ikelite Manual Strobe Controller for DS Digital Series Substrobes #4100.6
Provides 10 manual power settings in half-stop increments fo r SubStrobe DS-50 and DS-125 models.
The Manual Controller has a slave sensor allowing it to be triggered by another strobe; or any of our sync cords can be attached to the Controller bulkhead.
The Controller attaches to the strobe and mounts near the housing, providing maximum versatility and control of flash exposure. It can be used with normal or pre-flash camera and strobe systems.
A second strobe with a Manual Controller can be set to any desired power and will operate dependably with the built-in slave sensor of the Controller aimed at the subject or the primary strobe; or the Controller can be connected to a dual sync cord. A second strobe with a wireless TTL Slave Sensor will duplicate any manual power level it sees on the primary strobe.
4086.61 Ball Socket Arm system
The arm system allows easy strobe placement from macro close-up to wide angle without changing aim of the Sensor. The complete system removes with a push of the handle button.
