It's an upgrade from the 2nd Generation model, featuring heightened sensitivity for use with Sea & Sea or Nauticam housings equipped with internal electrical-to-optical flash triggering devices. These devices convert the camera's electrical signals into a series of LED flashes, which are less bright than a traditional built-in camera flash, thus preserving the natural ambiance of your underwater scenes.The Fiber Optic Converter is also compatible with any system where the camera's built-in flash can be seen by a fiber optic cord. It attaches simply to the strobe's electrical bulkhead in place of a sync cord connector. The enlarged slave window provides approximately a 90-degree field of view for remote triggering, making it easier for you to capture the perfect shot.One of the standout features of this Fiber Optic Converter is its automatic configuration for compatibility with both pre-flash and non pre-flash camera modes. There's no need to fiddle with small switches or worry about the number of pre-flashes. Just turn on your strobe, take one picture to configure, and you're ready to go. This adapter is a manual exposure (non-TTL) trigger only, and the strobe's output may be adjusted using the manual power settings built into the strobe.Remember, an individual Fiber Optic Converter and compatible cord is needed for each strobe. If you're using two strobes, you'll need two Fiber Optic Converters. This converter is specifically designed to attach to an Ikelite DS strobe and is not intended to be attached to a housing. It will provide no functionality if attached to an Ikelite bulkhead in a housing.
