Lens hits lens port

When I tested the setup before using the housing, the lens hit the lens port some of the time, but not every time. I limited the use of the zoom to avoid this problem once in the water. I handed the camera to my wife and she did not know about the limit. When she zoomed all the way out the lens hit. The instructions say to to press the on off button to restart if this happens. This did not fix the problem. I had to return to the boat and remove the camera from the case to reset the camera. This is the only underwater case I have used that had this problem, and if I had known of the problem before purchase I would not have spent $ on this case.

Incredible photos!

I have no point of comparison, as this is the first camera housing I've bought. I've used it on two dives so far (70' and 30') and the photos I took were flawless. The Ikelite was incredibly easy to use and the seals felt great, so I wasn't worried about my camera.

I have no point of comparison, as this is the first camera housing I've bought. I've used it on two dives so far (70' and 30') and the photos I took were flawless. The Ikelite was incredibly easy to use and the seals felt great, so I wasn't worried about my camera.

Camera Compatibility
The Sony Cyber-shot RX100 Mark IV differs from the III slightly in camera thickness. The newer Mark IV camera can be used in the previous housing version made for the Mark III, Product Number 6116.12. All controls are operable in this installation with the exception of the rear control dial, which must be set to the inactive position. The rear dial control may be adjusted for the Mark IV camera by installing a washer underneath the control knob. Adjustment washers may be purchased through an Authorized Ikelite Dealer. This newer housing features improved ergonomics like a front-loading camera system and improved rear dial control. Continue reading for a full explanation of new features. The RX100 Mark III can be used in this housing with the exception of the rear control dial. Older RX100 Mark I and Mark II cameras are not usable in this housing due to differences in lens and control placement.

Ergonomics
A new slide-in, front loading camera mounting tray makes this housing a breeze to set up and shoot. Controls are provided for all important camera functions including a re-designed, spring loaded rear dial control. Rear push button controls are laser engraved for identification with a new bright red push button for the video record start/stop. A sensitive shutter lever makes it easy to half-depress the trigger for focusing and metering. Use the camera's built-in Wi-Fi feature to download photos to another device without removing the camera from the housing. The Wi-Fi feature is only usable above water within close proximity to the connected device.

Construction
There's no greater assurance than being able to see the o-ring seal. Simply close the two double-passivated stainless steel locking lid snaps and see the o-ring form a solid black, watertight seal. Ikelite products are designed, built and tested in the USA. They use locally sourced, top-grade materials. Their housings are built by hand and individually tested for fit, function and waterproof integrity. They back their products with over 50 years of experience and service within the dive industry.

Flash
An included flash diffuser improves lighting quality when the camera's built-in flash is used. A built-in flash is effective between 1-3 feet (0.3-0.9m) from the subject in clear conditions. For best results a color correcting filter or external lighting is recommended. External lighting is more powerful and can be placed in a position to virtually eliminate the backscatter - or "snow" - from your underwater images. The optional AF35 strobe triggers and provides automatic TTL exposure by watching the camera's built-in flash, without the need of fiber optic cords or sensors. Alternatively, two ports are provided for the connection of up to two Ikelite-, SEASEA- or Olympus-type fiber optic cords.

Wide Angle, Macro + Filters
Their 3-inch diameter ports feature a 67mm thread on the front for the easy attachment of external wide angle and macro wet lenses. Wide angle lenses make objects appear smaller, so that you can fit more into your frame underwater. Macro close-up lenses make small objects appear larger, so that tiny creatures will fill your frame. The WD-3 Wide Angle Dome provides mid-range angle of view with no vignetting (dark shadows in the corners of the image).

The W-30 Wide Angle Lens, INON UWL-H100 and other 67mm threaded wide angle lenses, provide a wider maximum angle of view. Because these are separated from the camera's lens by glass, air and water, some vignetting and edge distortion will be present. These effects can be reduced or eliminated by using a smaller aperture, zooming in slightly, and/or cropping in post-production. External macro lenses with 67mm threads from INON, Epoque and other manufacturers, can be attached directly to the front of the housing's port. 3-inch diameter color filters press directly onto these ports. Most wide angle lenses require a 3.6-inch diameter color filter. Refer to the product page for information on color filter compatibility.
