The Olympus Tough TG-6 Camera, paired with the precision-engineered Ikelite Underwater Housing, offers a seamless integration of durability, reliability, and high-quality imaging for underwater photography enthusiasts. The TG-6 boasts a luminous 25-100mm mid-range zoom lens complemented by a high-speed back-lit CMOS image sensor, delivering exceptional performance in low-light underwater environments. The enhanced microscope mode surpasses its predecessor, the TG-5, providing macro close-up capabilities that rival those of high-end full-frame DSLR cameras.
Designed to support ultra HD 4K video and RAW image capture, the TG-6 becomes a potent asset for post-dive editing, allowing for meticulous color corrections in Adobe Lightroom or with the included software. Even without its housing, the TG-6 is waterproof to depths of 50 feet (15.2 meters), offering peace of mind during setup and use.
However, the built-in flash of the TG-6 is not ideally positioned for underwater illumination. To achieve the best color and clarity in your underwater photography, it is recommended to use additional lighting solutions such as filters, strobes, or constant-on lights. The camera's built-in flash can trigger external strobes via fiber optic sync cord, with two ports available for connecting up to two cords. Ikelite's current model DS strobes can be activated fiber optically with true automatic Olympus TTL exposure when paired with the RC1 TTL Receiver #4412 and Fiber Optic Cord #4501.
The Ikelite housing's 3" diameter ports are thoughtfully designed with a 67mm thread for the attachment of external wide angle and macro wet lenses. Wide angle lenses allow for a broader scene capture underwater, while macro lenses magnify minute subjects for impactful close-up shots. The DC1 6" Dome Port #6401 is a versatile addition, enabling sharp wide-angle photography, full zoom-through, and macro capabilities, ideal for split shots. The WD-3 Wide Angle Dome #6430.3 attaches effortlessly to the standard port, offering a mid-range angle of view without vignetting.
For those seeking an expansive field of view, the W-30 Wide Angle Lens #6430, INON UWL-H100, and other 67mm threaded wide angle lenses are compatible, though some vignetting and edge distortion may occur. These effects can be minimized through aperture adjustments, slight zooming, and post-production cropping. External macro lenses from reputable brands like INON and Epoque can be directly attached, enhancing the camera's close-up imaging potential. Color filters with a 3" diameter press onto the ports with ease, while most wide angle lenses will require a 3.6" diameter color filter. This innovative Underwater Housing and Olympus Tough TG-6 Camera Kit is the perfect choice for divers and underwater photographers who demand a stylish, high-performance setup that is tailored to the unique requirements of capturing the underwater world.
