Great camera for the money....
I must say, I am very pleased with this purchase. This camera is much more than I thought it could be for the money. Easy to use and has everything a much more expensive camera has. Going to Hawaii and this will be my camera of choice.

Great features, but a couple of flaws.
This one of my first reviews and I hope it helps someone prior to their choice. Right off, I have to say this camera has outstanding features. I still haven't mastered them all, but the one's I have used are great. The best that comes to mind is the image stabilization that works like magic in the telephoto modes. Second, would have to be the viewfinder, which is essential for outdoor use in bright sunlight. Oh yes, I can't forget the "Burst" feature this camera has. Just great when shooting action pictures. I do very little movie taking, so I won't comment on this feature. I considered this to be one of my best purchases.
Now for the bad. Right off, is the picture quality in long focal lengths. I have found that when using the telephoto at the longer ranges, the images lack sharpness and appear to carry blur. I have tried using fast shutter speeds with maximum aperture, and low ISO to no avail. I may be at fault with the settings I have tried, but I really doubt it. Next, the battery compartment lid can be troublesome, as when replacing the batteries, it tends to give you a fight when trying to latch into the locked position. If rechargeable batteries are your thing, I highly recommend purchasing batteries with 2300 mAh rating or higher.
As with any product, each individual has their own opinion with pro's and con's that match their shooting personalities. I haven't gone into depth with mine, but, feel I have at least given the most obvious, to me, features.

great zoom without having to change lens. Much better price than a camera you change lens.

Kodak EasyShare Max Z990
I bought my Kodak Z990 recently. I've taken quite a few images and fine tuned all my settings. Here's what I found:
Pros:
-Size, weight, and feel of camera. Solid SLR-like build, yet not as heavy.
-General image quality is quite good.
-High Dynamic Range (HDR) feature and low-light imaging are amazing (with a steady hand or tripod of course).
-fast auto-focus and shutter response.
-Nice LCD display.
-Menus and buttons pretty user friendly.
-Fairly strong flash, and flash images which have a natural-light feel.
-Kodak does color very well, but need to choose the right setting for this.
-Excellent high res burst mode.
-Value priced.
Cons:
-no auto-rotation of images or even capacity to rotate images at all (that I have found).
-some slow button response.
-slower processing for more involved functions. (Don't get a cheap SD card.a good one, class 10, will help).
Overall, I'm very happy with this camera.

VERY Nice Camera Any Way You Use It!
I have owned SEVERAL cameras over the years and this is without a doubt the best of them all. I can't say enough good about it. Just get it and you'll love it.

What a great surprise!
The Kodak EasyShare Max Z990 is a great ultrazoom. Its quality built and very solid.Its ergonomics are very good and makes the camera very easy operate. It has a wide array of very good features, including an ultra-quick continuous shooting mode. It has a high quality zoom lens and provides quick and accurate focusing. It offers very good image quality with especially nice looking colors and its low light image quality is impressive. It has an excellent flash. Over all it is a far better camera then most other cameras of this type that are going for a higher price. I own several different DSLR and digital cameras and I have to admit that my Kodak EasyShare Max Z990 is a top favorite of mine. For the price and the great quality, I encourage you to purchase this camera.
