Shopper : is there a knock off brand ?JEFFRY B : I'm sorry, but I don't know if a knockoff exists. I suggest the shopper check with his/her local camera shops. Many of them carry "off brands"of batteries. Also, places like Batteries Plus or Batteries USA seem to carry batteries for just about any use.Alan C : I don't know if there's a knock-off brand, but if there is I wouldn't buy it. I did that several years ago with a battery for my Leica D-Lux 3. It was fine until it stopped working in less than a year.CRAIG H : Yes there is. There was an option to buy a knock off brand spare battery when I bought my D-Lux 5, but after comparing it with the Leica branded battery, I noticed slight differences in the mAh specification. I also remember reading customer feedback about the knock off batteries that questioned their reliability, so I decided to stick with the Leica brand batteries. They've never failed me.GARY M : Hanel and Power 2000 both make batteries for Leica digitals, but... Power 2000 makes a battery to fit the Panasonic Lumix LX5, which is essentially the same camera as the Leica D-Lux 5, and the battery would probably work. There are two concerns: #1 is that Leica considers its warranty void if non-Leica batteries are used; and #2 is that the knock-offs do not seem to have the staying power of the original. Hanel is a little different; I had great experience with their battery for an earlier Leica model; but I do not think they make one to fit the D-Lux 5. I bit the bullet and bought the Leica battery for a spare.MIKE M : Leica BP-DC 10 battery is orignal, but that's OEM at China. If cut the cost try to Panasonic battery, it still work.

BP-DC 10 Li-Ion Battery is the replacement battery for Leica D-Lux 5, D- Lux 6 Cameras. There is no excuse for missing a shot because your battery goes dead or fails. This battery is capable of 400 exposures (under CIPA test conditions).
