I fell in love right away in this rangefinder-style viewfinder, bc you can frame pictures without the screen and shoot on street like a pro. The only inconvenience is that unlike the flashes that mount in the hot shoe this view finder has no ball bearing or any way to fix it to the hot shoe and therefore slips easily from the hot shoe and I dropped it a couple of times (a design flaw?).

The viewfinder is a quality product and one which has been well thought out by Leica. Initially, I was a little disappointed that the time taken to attach the EVF was cumbersome in spontaneous situations. However, in spite of the compactness of the camera, Leica did an excellent job of utilizing the space available. Once familiarity with the camera and its accessories was accomplished, using the EVF became a delight and made the initial tradeoff worth while.

The biggest advantage of this viewfinder is that it zooms in and out and really shows you what the picture will look like. There are optical viewers that don't zoom. If you intend to use the camera outdoors, it is almost essential

The high-aperture, black, attachable viewfinder can be mounted on the flash shoe without utilizing any electrical power. As a result, the camera can be used with outstanding success even in extreme light situations.
