not worth the huge Leica surcharge, buy an Olympus VF-2.

this is essentially exactly the same as the Olympus VF-2. Don't waste your money on this, it's not machined to Leica's high standards, but as an essential tool for using some of the M lines older, or longer lenses, it's worth spending 100.00 on the Olympus VF-2. If this were made from aluminium or some better material it would justify it, but it's plastic-ness and lack of polish are as of now truly a smudge on the M-line accessories. Try harder.

Alternate is Olympus VF-2

I bought an Olympus VF-2 and found that it seems to work perfectly on my Leica M. Less than 1/2 the price.

Doesn't fit the camera with strap attach

I don't own this or the camera anymore (didn't like the lens extending out of the camera among other things). But this case was promptly returned because I like to keep a strap attached to my camera and the strap did not fit inside. The strap attaches at the top outer corners of the camera, and the left corner of the camera goes in the bottom of this bag. So, the strap had to lay inside the case and it didn't really "work" for me. If you used this bag as your strap, it would be fine, but you can't use the strap attached to the camera with this case without problems.

About Leica X2

The Leica X2 Leather Case is a two-piece, formfitting case that allows you to use the camera while still attached to the case. The body half holds the camera while the front flap folds over the top to cover both the top, lens and front of the camera. Two buttons on the top hold the case shut. For security, dual side recesses allow you to thread the camera's strap through, so if the case should ever fall off, you're still tethered to the camera. When you're ready to shoot, simply unsnap the flap, fold it over the front of the camera and shoot.
