Lightweight and very crisp images

I bought the Leica X to augment my arsenal of cameras, because it's lightweight. I found it's a blast to tote around the city doing street shots and also great for close ups... the image quality is superb, no matter what aperture. I sometimes find it blows out the white in harsh sunlight, but if I adjust the EV all is good. I love shooting food, cocktails, flowers etc. using the 1.7 aperture and getting the creamy blurry bokeh backgrounds. I've had success selling these to the stock photography houses, who demand high resolution. So I guess it depends on what you want this camera to do for you. An added bonus is other photographers love the look of this camera, your camera swag points skyrocket.

Solid, But Not Gold

I really like the size, build and handling of the Leica X, and the accessory visoflex viewfinder also works well and looks good with the black version of the camera. The rendering of the images is very good along with subject separation, but this cameral let me down in lens sharpness. Images were frequently soft, and pp sharpening helped but appeared artificial. The sharpness at different apertures and distances to subject was clearly not as good as the X2 I had previously used or the Fuji X100T. Does the X lens not reach the bar set by the X2 or is it just a bad copy? Either way, a disappointment. For the price it is fair to expect a superlative lens.

Digital technology Made in Germany meets art: Leica developed the Leica X "Edition Moncler" in collaboration with Italian fashion label Moncler. Only 1,500 special-edition cameras were produced for the entire global market. His photographic project shows the Leica X Edition Moncler' against the spectacular scenery of Greenland.
