Before diving into the world of professional-grade photography printing, consider the Ilford 4x6" Multigrade V RC Portfolio Paper, 25 Sheets, Pearl. This premium photo paper is the heaviest weight resin-coated (RC) option available, offering a luxurious feel reminiscent of fiber papers while maintaining the practicality of a resin-coated base. Reformulated and relaunched in 2021, the ILFORD Multigrade RC Portfolio Paper is a standout choice for photographers seeking superior quality and convenience.
This double-weight RC paper is designed to emulate the rigidity, weight, and high-quality feel of fiber-based papers, yet it provides the ease of use and quick, flat drying characteristics typical of RC papers. The advanced RC emulsion closely mirrors the image tone and sensitometry performance of ILFORD's Multigrade Classic FB paper, facilitating seamless transitions between RC and fiber papers.
Ideal for a wide range of users from students and beginners to seasoned darkroom professionals this paper is perfect for creating premium quality prints for clients, portfolios, or exhibitions. It offers exceptional image quality across a broad contrast range of grades 00-5, thanks to its 5th generation Multigrade emulsion. This innovation introduces a slightly warmer base tint, enhanced blacks for greater depth, improved mid-grade spacing, and a smoother sensometric curve, ensuring uniform contrast throughout the tonal range.
The Multigrade RC Portfolio Paper is currently available with a Pearl surface, providing a subtle sheen that enhances image detail and depth. Although it is no longer available as a 10x15cm (4x6") back-printed postcard, the pack includes a sample postcard layout, allowing you to create personalized postcards with ease.
As part of the ILFORD Multigrade system, this paper can achieve seven full grades of contrast when used with ILFORD Multigrade filters. It is compatible with most common safelights for black and white darkroom papers, such as the ILFORD 902 safelight filter, making it a versatile choice for any darkroom setup.
