I'm glad they have this for 4x5, it came quickly and well packed.

I have been using this film for about a year. I use it in 4x5 film holders in a Lensless Camera Co, pinhole camera. With slow speed film (ASA80) and very small aperture f/232), daylight winter time exposure is about 75 seconds, summertime about 25-45 seconds. This film gives a very wide range of gray scale: plus or minus about two full stops. The tonal quality over the range is uniform. At the lower contrast range the image is a bit thin and requires spotting. At the high range of scale the density usually does not require spotting. I handle and develop under Red safe light. I develop using Ilford IL-11 (17-18 min), Kodak Short Stop (quick dip), Ilford Quick Fixer (5-8 min). While wet the emulsion is very soft and requires care not to touch. When dry you can handle easily. The film has extremely fine grain. I use it for both portrait, nature, ghosts (objects in motion), and architecture.

For those of us who still like to work with a negative, or believe we can get better quality with one, and want to copy images--historical or otherwise--this is the film to use. Many of us lamented the loss of Kodak's Professional Copy film. Ilford's Ortho Plus is as good, perhaps even better for copying photographs. And it's relatively easy to work with, and results are consistent.

A Wonderful Copy Film
By Steve
For those of us who still like to work with a negative, or believe we can get better quality with one, and want to copy images--historical or otherwise--this is the film to use. Many of us lamented the loss of Kodak's Professional Copy film. Ilford's Ortho Plus is as good, perhaps even better for copying photographs. And it's relatively easy to work with, and results are consistent.
Let the ILFORD ORTHO Plus Black and White Copy Film revolutionize your photography experience. This high-quality orthochromatic film, with an ISO rating of 40/80, is specifically designed for a multitude of applications, making it a versatile choice for both professional and amateur photographers.
Primarily recommended for continuous tone copy work, this film ensures no compromise in quality, even when the original includes intricate line work. Its unique blue and green sensitivity allows for handling in red safelight conditions, providing the added advantage of processing by inspection.
The ILFORD ORTHO Plus film stands out for its ability to fine-tune contrast based on your choice of developer, exposure, and development time. It offers the potential to achieve an accurate reproduction of most black and white originals, or to maintain a clean background in copies of combined line and continuous tone originals.
Unlike conventional films that often yield dull, flat results when used for copying, the ORTHO Plus film's characteristic curve has been optimized to ensure the tonal range of the original image is maintained. This makes it an ideal choice for photomicroscopy, where the qualities of a high-resolution film with precise contrast control are essential.
Coated on a 0.180mm/7-mil polyester base, the ORTHO Plus film is renowned for its high dimensional stability and strength. It features an efficient anti-halation backing that clears during development, enhancing the overall quality of your images.
When processed and stored correctly, the ILFORD ORTHO Plus Black and White Copy Film boasts excellent archival storage properties, making it a reliable choice for preserving your precious photographic memories. Whether you're capturing portraits, nature, architecture, or historical images, this film delivers consistent, high-quality results every time.
