My sister tried shooting some B&W on an old kodak brownie box camera and was unhappy because it didn't look "old" like she wanted. Just shooting B&W doesn't capture that look from old 1900's images, but back then they didn't have the panchromatic films we do so their negatives are literally different even if you shot the exact same subject today. Orthochromatic film doesn't see some colors towards the red spectrum so the image is a littler different, just like those old negatives of your great- grandparents. So use this film on "old" subjects and scenes and it really helps capture that old look. But there are some additional concerns in shooting and editing compared to most panchromatic B&W films you're used to. I'd recommend reading Ilford's data sheet on the film to make sure you have the right filters, exposure settings, and development times.

Great film in the right hands.
You can capture breathtaking landscapes with the Ortho Plus 35mm Black and White Negative Film Roll, a high-quality, professional-grade product from the reputable brand, Ilford. This ISO 80 orthochromatic black and white film is renowned for its fine grain and sharpness, making it an ideal choice for photographers seeking to produce high-resolution images.
Ilford Ortho Plus is more than just a black and white film; it's a tool designed to enhance your photographic potential. Its unique orthochromatic properties allow it to be handled in deep red safelight conditions, simplifying the processing and inspection stages.
This film stands out from standard panchromatic films due to its lack of red sensitivity. This feature renders reds and oranges in your frame darker, resulting in stronger contrast and adding depth to your images.
The Ortho Plus 35mm film is DX coded for ISO 80, making it perfect for daylight or natural light shooting. For those working under tungsten light, a manual ISO setting of 40 is recommended. Alternatively, a 1-stop exposure correction can be applied. Regardless of whether you're shooting at ISO 80 or 40, this film can be processed as standard.
For your convenience, development times can be found in the technical data sheet or on the inside of the film cartons. Choose the Ortho Plus 35mm Black and White Negative Film Roll for a reliable, versatile, and durable solution to your black and white photography needs.
