I have used card readers from other manufacturers, and they left me extremely disappointed and waiting much longer than I should have to. With my two camera bodies having both CF and SD cards, this was a no brainer. It allows me to transfer images to my external HDs for quicker initial back up. Great product!

If you use Compact Flash cards this item is a must. Most computers don't come with a compact flash reader but if you are pro camera user there is a 95% chance your camera uses a CF card. I found file transfers very fast for an external advise. The card takes advantage of a USB 3.0 port and UDMA cards if you have the combination. I was also able to read a Delkin 16Gb card thru this reader while 3 computers couldn't read it. That's another story and Delkin has asked me to return the card to check it out and replace it. Not a knock on Delkin they have a great warranty and back their products 100%. Without this reader I may have lost important images so that's another reason to have a good external reader like this one made by Lexar. It's a samll investment for a product that does so much. I wouldn't be without it!

I did not know how fast you could transfer photo files until I bought this. Anyone shooting raw on high end cameras really needs this.

I bought several cheap card readers. They were all slow and all eventually failed. Do yourself a favor and spend a few bucks. This thing is fast and reliable. Nuff said.

I've tried a few other, cheaper card readers before. For CF cards in particular, it's important to get a properly designed reader that allows easy insert of CF card without bending the pins. This reader makes it easy to do that.

I use this reader on my PCs (WindowsXP Pro & Windows 7) and MacBook Pro (Lion, OS X). Reads all cards flawlessly and quickly. There are many lower priced readers on the market. For my money, quality and value fits this product.

I've used this card reader for about a year and it's fast and bulletproof coupled with a UDMA high-speed card. I especially appreciate the popup dust protection feature. The newest version of this device is designed for USB-3, so look for future bargains for the original USB-2 reader.

I bought this to replace a Sandisk multicard reader which was a pain to work with: SD cards had to be inserted just right, and it was a bit picky about CF cards also. This Lexar unit works well: insert card and it starts reading. It is nice not having to tweak card positioning. It is not as fast as I expected or hoped, though. But it is easier to have a reader attached to my computer than to try to find cables to connect the camera directly to the computer. I do not know if the slower speed than expected is related to my 3 year old iMac. In general, though, the unit works like it should (albeit a bit slowly): open reader. Insert card. Photos start appearing on monitor.

I haven't found another card reader I would like to run, but I have opened my camera bag to find my lexar reader in two peices and have had to clip it back together more than once. I am running a Macbook Pro 15" OSX 10.6.8 with the 2.66GHz intel processor and 4gb of ram, and I didn't notice a speed difference between this and the cheap [...] reader I was using with compact flash cards. I am simply running a USB cable, so I could be maxed out on the USB's ability to support faster data transfers.... I also should note I am using the Sandisk extreme cards (60mb/s). You can draw your own conclusions on my review, but I still would recommend it for others.

It's fast, very fast. I've had several other card readers and this little baby smokes them all in transfer rate. It handles both CF and SD cards only, so this kind of limits its versatility somewhat. A very neat feature: you can keep it closed and dust protected until you need to use it and then just snap it open and pop in a card. The unit is also well-made.

I got this for the speed, the size is a little bulky for only reading 2 card types. I use this when I travel and do like the snap-open access to the card slots. Overall I am very happy with this card reader.
