Z : If you are asking can you save and retrieve files onto the Lexar from an SD card directly then yes .. files are transferred, copied, moved the same way as from the hard drive or any other USB thumb drive. The Lexar is formatted as FAT32, some SD cards in camera are formatted exFAT and of course most HD's are formatted NTFS .. so if you reformat the Lexar to NTFS for example it will not work in TV's or some cars with USB radio ports for music such as MP3 or WAV files .. it has to remain in the FAT32 format for the car and TV sets (as of now). Lexar in addition cannot be used in place of SD cards in cameras which is obvious.KEITH C : Yes, you can put any file in this drive, just like you do

adequate for my use - storing mpg2 videos (that I can take with me anywhere I go, on a very small, compact device). I have purchased three of them, and they all work very well. Here is what I did to make the drive useful as a movie storage and playback drive. (Any file can be copied to the lexar like an SD card):

Step 1: Format the drive in Windows 7 in NTFS. The format time is long.
Be patient. The formatting will erase the pre-installed backup software
on the drive. Thus, If You want to use the backup software on the drive at a later time, copy it and save the pre-loaded software to another location on your computer before re-formatting the Lexar.

Step 2: Copy any files that You wish to the drive. It will function as a reliable,
very small footprint, storage device. The copy process is slow, but reliable.

I have stored 30 DVD quality movies of 2 hours each (4 GB each) on this one drive and they all play great even on an atom netbook.
