About Impossible "From Polaroid to Impossible": Masterpieces of Instant Photography

The Impossible "From Polaroid to Impossible" is a collection of instant photography work, but it's so much more than a book of pretty pictures. It's at once a history lesson in photographic developments, a collection of work by iconic photographers, a sketchbook of experimental ideas and a look into the future of photography and, more than anything, it's a celebration of the medium of instant photography.

The work is presented chronologically, providing insight into the technical developments of the cameras and film types, as well as aesthetics. A diverse body of work is presented, showing simple portraiture and still-life, as well as complex collages and physical manipulations like scratching and gold-leafing. The images included also demonstrate the range of the medium, showing professional works in the exclusive 20x24 format as well as the massively available integral film, the classic white-bordered image. Presented finally in this book is the introduction of work shot with film produced by The Impossible Project, following the termination of all instant film by Polaroid. Featuring classic work by artists including Ansel Adams, Helmut Newton and Andy Warhol and contemporary work by Nobuyoshi Araki and David Levinthal, this collection is as vast as it is profound.
