I have bought Mack warranties since the 70's. I have only used them once and they actually sent the camera back to the manufacturer and paid for the repair, because they couldn't do it. So if anyone tells you this is not a real warranty...WRONG. Plus, if you decide to sell the camera, it increases your selling price at least as much as the warranty, becasuse it gives the buyer a very warm fuzzy feeling, knowing that if something goes wrong with a used camera they won't be stuck with a big bill. Money well spent. And believe me, I can squeeze a buck better than anyone you know.

When things go wrong they usally go wrong badally, I have not seen a better choice for the badly part of the situation than this. It's just worth not having to go through the hassel!

Like all insurance-like contracts all you can do is look at the cost and promises, unless you actually use it. Everything looks good on this one. I bought only a camera back. However, a word of caution, it says it does not cover interchanable lenses and even some things, like batteries, that are sold as part of the original camera.

This is my first experience with a MACK extended coverage. So far I've no reason to make use of it so I cannot offer guidance with regard to the experience. The coverage appears to be reasonable for the camera and lens. The coverage was easy to register on line and the documentation indicates it should be easy to use if required. A limitation is the need to ship the component to Mack for service, however that does not cause concern at this time.

I used a Mack warranty last year to fix a 1Ds that got an Err 99. Mack fixed the camera back to specs and it works flawlessly. The only negative is it took 30 calendar days from when I shipped it till I got it back. But considering it would have costs $100s more to fix through Canon, it's a good deal. I bought one of these warranties for my new Canon 5D2. I plan to keep this camera at least 4-5 years and probably longer. 3 years of extra coverage for about 2% of the purchase price is good peace of mind.

Many people are against extended warranties, I'm not one of those people. If your camera is $300 or $12,000 it is all an investment. Let me tell you from experience that a $300 camera can easily cost $200 in repairs. I have purchased MACK warranties for years, I'm lucky to say that I haven't had to use it, but know people that have. The people at Mack are reliable and quick to help. I have not found any hidden loop holes in their offerings. My new Canon 7D body was $1500.00, it well well worth the extra [$] to keep it covered by Mack.

Have had MACK Extended warranties on previous camera bodies, but the manufacturer's quality has been so good that I've NOT had the occasion to use the MACK warranty. When making a significant investment in a high-end camera body, it's the least one can do to add value to the purchase.

I have purchased other Mack warrantys for other cameras and lens, fortunatly I have never had to use it. It's just great knowing I have the coverage should I need it.
