I would recommend it because of the reduced weight compared to a ball head for traveling or hiking

This unit is a cut above the TH2 since is has a third locking clamp as well as a higher load capacity. For this reason it would be less likely to creep downward when tilted on a monopod. I always buy a heaver duty unit than needed because the performance would not be disappointing. I would recommend it because of the reduced weight compared to a ball head for traveling or hiking.
