the aperture of this lens is great. allows for taking good pictures in low lighting conditions. if only the aperture was higher; then the lens could be almost perfect for what it can be used for.

Always had problems catching the right light and speed at night parties where there is not enough light. This lenses works perfect to catch what a real eye sees.

Mounted on my V1 the 10mm Nikkor 1 wide angle makes a great tiny combo for candids and street photography. While it duplicates the same angle of view offered by the kit 10-30mm zoom, it is a full stop faster and much less noticeable.

1. This is good lens; typical Nikon; not bad, defective, or anything like that. Takes decent snapshots. Turns your Nikon 1 into a point-and-shoot. 2. But... the 1.8 lens is just a couple of bucks more; and it's fantastic; superior; amazing; out of the ordinary. So, I can't recommend a good lens when you could spend just a few bucks more and get a great lens. 3. This is also the smallest Nikon 1 lens; so if you have one of the "J" cameras and need the smallest possible lens, this is it. If you have a "V" camera... just go for the 1.8.

I've used this lens primarily for indoor shots and not use the flash. The larger aperture enables me to compose my subjects in different ways and it also helps in taking shots in places where flash photography is prohibited. This is not the first time I've purchased a refurbished lens and this was still top notch.

Pros: - small and lightweight makes it easy to carry around all day. - fast lens- I use it with an underwater case to photograph fish while snorkeling. - good light even in slightly darker places- indoor portraits or group photos for example Cons: - this lens is fixed so it's not good for shooting subjects further away. As a result, this is a good additional lens but does not serve as a good primary lens. - price is a bit high for a lens with limited capabilities.

Not my first refurbished product. This one looks brand new! Functions flawlessly on my AW1. Got it to use in normal use due to its small size compared to the AW1 lenses.

I bought the 10mm as a compliment to the 10-30mm lens that I already have. Now the situation is reverse. That's how good this lens is. It's sleek design allows me to travel super light and the shots are really clear and crisp. All for under $150! Outside of buying the body, this has been the best choice I've made regarding a camera for a long time. Highly recommend.

Smallest profile on my V2. Slightly sharper than 10-30mm kit lens.

This is an excellent quality lens, but I bought it because up to now I was keeping only the lens cap on the camera; afraid that unless I was actually holding the camera and ready to shoot, something might bump into the telephoto zoom lens and break it. So, I bought the 2.8 figuring it should be almost the size of the lens cap and safe to leave on the camera for indoor shots and whenever I didn't need the zoom; I could just leave it hanging from my neck (or, in my coat pocket) with the 2.8 on always. The 2.8 sort-of fits the bill; but it is not as tiny as I'd hoped, and I'm disappointed in that respect. In my mind, Nikon could have created a 1.9 of that size; this is little large for a 2.8. And so: I give it a very good, but not an excellent. Oh yes... unlike a simple lens cap; you can also use it to shoot pictures ;) As others have stated; it's certainly not a "bad" lens in any way... but not sure now, if I had to do over again; would by this again or just get the (slightly?) larger 1.9.

I use this to capture images of my kids, mainly outside. It's refurbished, but you can't tell at all. It works like new!

Use this product for landscape pictures and group shots. I get sharp pictures and the smaller size is easier to carry around. The lens does sit very tightly on the camera mount.

This lens fits tight to the body when loaded. It is small, sharp, and works as advertised. I bought it in white although my camera is black. I don't really care about color and the camera appears to be a point-and-shoot and no one minds my taking their picture. I like refurbished lenses or cameras. I save money, have no problems, and figure they got extra care and alignment when fixed.

Elegant, yet supremely compact, the 10mm CX-format single focal length wide angle lens (27mm equivalent in 35mm format) renders sharp photos for a variety of needs, including everything from landscapes to group shots. Even low light moments have details brought to life with the fast f/2.8 aperture. The most compact of the 1 NIKKOR lens system, this ultra-portable wide angle is the one to keep with you always. Quality and integrity are hallmarks of the new 1 NIKKOR lens system.
Ultra compact, portable and fast
High quality images of natural scenery, snapshots of daily life and low light situations are rendered with ease. Produce shallow depth of field looks with dreamy backgrounds and set your subjects apart using an f/2.8 aperture and 10mm (picture angle equivalent of a 27mm in 35mm format). Extremely compact and stylish, this is the lens you can take everywhere you go.
Daily life clearly shared
Frame all to perfection
Don't miss any moment of life! Frame it to perfection whether it's the whole family or just a single person, trust the 1 NIKKOR 10mm lens. Versatility and precision are yours with a wide aperture that makes everything from landscapes to close-ups brilliant.
Fast lens for stunning portraits
Tackle those low light situations
With an f/2.8 aperture, low light moments are captured with color clarity and soft background looks. 1 NIKKOR 10mm lens applies two aspherical lens elements to ensure only the highest quality images even at the widest aperture settings are obtained.
Scenery presented true to life
Great perspective shots with wide angle
Sweeping landscapes just as you remember them retold with color clarity. A fast f/2.8 aperture is perfect for shallow depth of field or low light, while the 10mm wide angle surrenders natural perspective when shooting landscapes at any time of day or night.
Rear Focusing
With Nikon's Rear Focusing (RF) system, all the lens elements are divided into specific lens groups, with only the rear lens group moving for focusing. This makes autofocusing operation smoother and faster.
Aspherical lens element
Aspherical lenses virtually eliminate the problem of coma and other types of lens aberration - even when used at the widest aperture. They are particularly useful in correcting the distortion in wide-angle lenses. In addition, use of aspherical lenses contributes to a lighter and smaller lens design.
Nikon Super Integrated Coating
To enhance the performance of its optical lens elements, Nikon employs an exclusive multilayer lens coating that helps reduce ghost and flare to a negligible level. Nikon Super Integrated Coating achieves a number of objectives, including minimized reflection in the wider wavelength range and superior color balance and reproduction.
