Did fifteen 20m dives with this camera in 13 months when the screen area began to leak. 1 month outside of warranty support so camera shop didn't want to know and zero support or response from Nikon websites or support emails. I'm a dive instructor and am going to struggle to recommend any Nikon products to my clients based on this experience

Out of the box I was very impressed with this camera. Image quality was great, and being an outdoors person, I nerded out with it having GPS. Waterproof and with a nice long strap so its easy to carry and tough as nails. Bought it because its a lot easier to carry than my D300S and have not been disappointed. Battery life is very good as well.

@mariaj.rivero Muchas gracias

I got the camera in Feb and in may, the batter door won't close, which is the major feature of this weather and waterproof camera Also the warranty is not global. I bought in india and was transferred to singapore. Singapore won't repair under warranty

We bought this camer 5 years ago used it on two vacations and on the third the screen went black and you could see the condensation in the screen. Went and returned the camera they replaced with a brand new one and second vacation it did the same thing. Really upsetting as we have no pictures now of our tour because of the poor quality.

worked okay for 3 years, but used only on holidays which equates to 4 trips totalling 40 days. Of those vacations it was only used when on water activities so now the number is less than 15 days ( I have a D5200 for land base photos). never went down more than 20ft on my snorkel trips and now the LCD screen is black when powered on. Pretty sure the waterproof seals have gone causing internal damage. cost of repair is EST $200.....NO THANKS I rather buy another one but not NIKON

This was my second dive trip in 3 months, and I can not get this camera to take good photos. They are almost always blue washed out. I am ticked off because I have the AW100 and it takes GREAT photos underwater. I would not recommend this camera if you want to use it to take dive photos. Above the surface it works just fine.

We took out our NikonCool Pix AW 310 snorkeling. After the first day, they never worked again ! We didn't go deeper than 3 feet. Don't waste your money on this product if you plan on using it in the water. Took the time and money to send it in to see if it could get repaired. NOPE

Purchased this camera a year ago. It takes fantastic underwater photos, easy to operate and a perfect complement to my Nikon DSLR. I take it hiking, snorkeling and on vacation adventures.

I purchased this camera last year in February. I thought a bit about the purchase because this camera uses special lithium batteries, which is a bit of a hassle when traveling; however judging from the reviews, I was fairly certain this camera was what I was looking for. I had only used this camera on 3 trips to the beach when the camera stopped working. The viewfinder first developed a dark spot and then died altogether. The only thing it does now is turn on but the viewfinder does not show any images. Overall, this purchase was a waste of $. I will not buy Nikon's coolpix cameras again, nor their higher priced items.

I've had this camera 2 years now and I hate it. It takes great outdoor pics but horrible indoors pics..The flash goes off sometime and not others. If the flast does go off the pictures are soooo brassy! If it doesn't go off they are always so dark :(((( I have tried everything but no succes...have played with the light settings, etc. and it is so unpredicatable. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Blurry pic, can not focus. Can not adjust the light so pictures are over or under exposed, flash projects an ugly light

The camera worked great for 7 months. Loved the pictures it took on two hiking trips. Just not happy as it will not power up. I tried different batteries and chargers. I have not used this camera much and it should have lasted longer.

First of all before purchasing this product I read the reviews and I was very disappointed that how is this possible that Nikon made that such rubbish camera and I was convinced to purchase Olympus TG-4, but I am a Nikon user and I purchased this product on risk after reading such bad reviews from users, but when I used this product and compared to my friends Tg-4 I was really shocked that this camera is brilliant in both underwater and outdoor photography and its video quality is suberb I wasn't expecting that but I am glad that I've purchased this product and rated this product 5 stars, but few laps are that no underwater scene in auto mode because to take multiple shots we should have to select auto mode than we find multi shots option, I wish that if this is a firmware issue than please update new firmware with multiple shots in underwater option and enhance the control of manual color preset and please please ad Raw shooting also that's it.

This is my 3rd AW 100 series camera and the "gezillionth" Coolpix, have used the 990's (still have 3 of them), the S series, and now the AW, have a 100, a 120 and now the 130. You will find me on most days with it hanging on my neck as I take pictures all day for eBay and Craig's List. these are the best macro cameras, love the faster 2.8 lens, superb image stabilization, ease of use, and the fact that this camera takes abuse extremely well for years. My AW100 looks like it went trough a landslide, the counter turned over 2x and it still works. The only thing I wish for that Nikon had kept the 800x600 shooting format as an option as that is the most usable format for posting.

I actually haven't taken this item into water yet. Too scared after other reviews. But I wanted a rugged land camera that took good action shots and photos in dim lighting. My experimentation over the week of owning it prior to my holiday have revealed neither of these attributes. The action shots are blurry and the night shots are... well.... opaque. Now, as a fair-weather point-and-clicker I am perfectly accepting of the fact I might be using all the wrong button combinations for the desired results. But the fact is, the manual provides the most basic of information regarding this item, and I see no online tutorials or tips for its use. More information would be gratefully received on the optimum use of this item if it is available anywhere. At this point, it's a massively overpriced item for pretty average results.

We used this camera today on our Holiday to Spain. I dropped it while we were climbing - and by some distance 40 feet bouncing between a crag. We roped up and a more able climber than me managed to retrieve it. I was worried and thought there would be nothing left of the camera. Not only was it intact but everything functioned great and we continued to take photos of a great day. Try that with an iPhone and see what happens!!!!

I owned my camera for about 6 months. I bought it specifically for shooting sea kayaking and ski pictures. Photo quality is excellent in good light and degrades as it gets darker. I get lots of compliments from friends about my photos who want to know what I used. The controls are small and difficult to use in real situations, but I've taken this camera to the tops of mountains and in heavy surf. Although it has an underwater rating, I keep it a waterproof hatch when I'm not using it. Nonetheless, I paddle in rough conditions and have rolled the boat while wearing it and it did fine. Salt and sand are hard on electronics so you are supposed to clean the camera thoroughly before opening it after being in the ocean. They are serious. The last time I went out, I made the mistake of letting a friend copy the SD card before I cleaned the camera. When I cleaned the camera, water got in, rendered it totally dead (not impressive since my cell phone has been fully submerged in salt water multiple times and worked fine once it dried out), so now I'm out 350 bucks. I don't like the price, but the pictures are good enough that I am considering getting another. The software that syncs with my smartphone is disappointing and constantly loses the connection. But it is usable. In short, it's a versatile point and shoot that takes great pictures. But I'd avoid submerging it any more than you absolutely have to because if anything interferes with the seal, you'll be hosed.

I just read a review stating that the Flash does not have an "ON" option. What? I can't imagine a camera of this caliber without the option of turning the Flash on for filling in brightly backlit subjects so I checked it out on my daughter's camera that I am using this week Sure enough. There it is. Flash either "Auto" or "Off" with no option for "On"! This, alone, stops me (dead in my tracks) from buying this camera!

This camera let me down very badly whilst on the holiday on a lifetime. the screen at the back and the lens kept fogging up. Instructions in the manual state the camera should be opened and allowed to 'air out' and adjust to humidity, this is impossible to do when out on a day trip to a water-park in humid Mexico! Consequently this is not a 'rugged, adventure' camera! However, it also fogged up on the plane, in an air conditioned, temperature controlled environment and thus one can only assume the camera is poorly made and not fit for any environment. One day I was snorkelling and no deeper than 3 foot depth was reached and when I later went to change the battery there was water on the battery and sd card. When I returned home I sent it for repair/replacement under warranty and they stated there was nothing wrong with the camera and it 'passed' their tests ... I disagree. Finally, in order to charge the battery the camera needs to be open with the battery in situ, no battery charger is supplied as standard. I had to buy a battery charger as I didn't want to leave a camera open to the dust and humidity that might enter whilst charging. Consequently an already expensive camera is made more expensive by aftermarket purchases. I spoke with a guy who had an older AW model and he had condensation problems, I would've thought that nikon could've overcome this fault considering it was known years ago. I love my nikon dslr but I'll never buy one of their so-called rugged cameras again!

I dive, but I also hike in the mountains. I wanted a camera that I could dive with and one that I could use on land as well. I wanted a camera that wasn't big, something I could stow in a BCD pocket or cargo pants. But I also wanted a camera with more capability than a cell phone. I got all that in the Coolpix AW130. I have had mine for over a year now and have taken it on over 30 dives. Now, granted, you have to know how to use the camera and its settings, but once you figure that out, there's not much it won't do. And the fact that it can transfer to a smart phone, I can post pictures in any social media I like within minutes of taking them. Great camera, great capabilities and does everything I ask of it. I've read a number of the 'bad' reviews and most seem to be of one of two themes. Either the unhappiness has nothing to do with the camera itself or the person using it was using it in a way that the camera itself tells you not to. Take care of it and use it as described and you'll have no trouble. (It is rated for 100ft, but I accidentally have taken mine to as deep as 120+ a couple of times after forgetting that it was in my pocket. While I don't want to push that limit, the fact is, it is still 'ticking'.)

Manual impossible to read. The only way that I could, is online, where print size can be changed (though I did not have to, online.) Pictures - only took a few - were blurry. Camera use is difficult - small buttons, and not intuitive. Would take considerable time to get simple operation figured out. Plan to return the camera.

I was disappointed by the inordinate time required to fill the order, and the imprecise responses to my inquiries. Nevertheless, I am relatively satisfied with the operation of the product. I purchased the devise primarily for GPS tagging of photographs of biological survey data points. I was not aware that the GPS coordinates are only to the nearest second. At my latitude, a change in 1 second is roughly 105 feet of latitude and 50 feet of longitude. Is that limitation disclosed anywhere? Buyer beware.

I bought this camera and it immediately failed under water and was destroyed even though I was using it in only a few metres of water. Nikon service was very poor and wanted nearly as much to repair it as it cost new. I'd avoid this unit if you plan on using it underwater even though that what it's intended to do.

Bought one and loved it. It was fine but failed and flooded when diving to less than 20 metres. I figured it was just a lemon and bought a SECOND one. It also failed at less than 20 metres by having the screen crack under pressure. It's rated to 30 metres but can't seem to survive that deep. Avoid this unit if you are a diver.
