PAUL L : What year did this Nikon A900 come out?Don Y : The camera was announced to be released in October 2016. There were 2 reviews done on December 2016.Byron S : Sorry, I do not know there is no date of manufacture on the camera, but the model was still available new when I bought mine last year. A new model A1000 is coming out soon so the A900 is probably a couple of years old.JAY S : go ask nikon. Do your research.FLOYD S : Don't Love Mine!SANDRA S : 2016Frank E : I have no clue. You'll have do do some searches on the internet. It shouldn't be hard to find out. The camera is great, I love it.DENNIS S : According to Nikon, the first ones came out in February 2016
Keith S : I didn't see any info on flash. Does it have a flash? I assume it is built-in, but please offer clarification. ThanksDon Y : Yes there is a flash. It is on the top right side facing the front of the camera. On the back top side near the middle there is a small slide switch. If you slide switch to the right the flash will pop up to about three quarter inch high.Byron C : Yes there is a flashJOHN T : Yes it has a built in flash which works well for its size. If you are routinely taking low light pictures without flash, this is not the right camera. I have been disappointed in its low light performance, especially the inability to focus , say for example, late evening sunsets. Otherwise a great camera for the price. Its my walkaround handy cam when I don't want to lug the big stuff out.William B : Yes it does have a flash.ALAN H : Yes. Details are listed in the specs. Built-in flash Range (approx.) (ISO sensitivity: Auto) [W]: 0.5 to 6.0m (1 ft. 8 in. to 19 ft.) [T]: 1.5 to 3.2m (5 ft. to 11 ft.) Built-in Flash Control TTL auto flash with monitor preflashesByron S : Yes it does have a flash. It pops up when you slide the release switch to the side. You can hold your finger on it to tilt it up.Patricia M : Yes, it has a flash. The camera tells you when it is needed and you push a button and it comes up for use.Julian R : Flash is built in. It doesn't automatically pop up like some cameras. You must turn it on. Has red-eye and single flash modes.RAY F : Yes, it does have a built in flash. There are a number of modes...auto, auto with red eye reduction, fill flash/standard flash and slow synch. All of this info can be found on pages 57-59 in the downloadable manual. Hope this helps.MARK B : Yes this camera does have its own built-in flash. It performs very nicely. You shouldn’t be disappointed.SANDRA S : it has a built-in flashDENNIS S : Yes, this has a pop-up flash with settings for Automatic, Red eye, Fill, and Slow
MARK R : SKU: INKCPA900SR Does this Nikon Coolpix A900 any scratches? Is this a new camera, is a one year warranty available and is there a instruction booklet with this package/deal?Cotara F : The Camera had no Scratches on it,it didn't come with the Nikon instruction booklet,i dont remember if it came with a booklet. But the camera is a great refurbished camera everything on the camera worked I love the 1080 HD resolution on the camera the camera is a very good camera in allANDREW R : Unfortunately the manufacturer never indicates the reason a given unit was sent for refurbishment. Item may have been a floor model, demo, etc.. It's also possible that the unit did not pass initial QC checks and was returned to the line for repair without leaving the factory. Refurbished equipment is offered to us in batches by the manufacturer, so the status of a single unit would be unknown to us. Great Travel Camera

Best travel camera I ever owned. Have taken the camera to China, Europe and the States. Such high resolution for a small camera. Great battery life, fits perfect in my pockets, very easy to use photo and video.

Love this but I'm still learning

I have been very pleased with the photos on automatic and preset modes. I'm still learning the manual modes but I look forward to taking more artistic pictures like I used to with my old SLR. I love taking pictures of animals, birds. landscapes and macro mode. the changing colors on the trees will be a great opportunity to get some colorful shots.

Not as complicated as I thought.

With all that the camera is capable of doing, it is easy to get some very good pictures. I haven't even begun to discover everything yet or use the camera in the manual modes other than play around with them. The preset modes are great and I do use them instead of the auto mode for taking anything other than a rush shot for a subject that I may miss if I took time to set the mode to a preset. I am still learning and I think the camera is the best one out there to fit my needs. I do mostly outdoor scene, animal, birds and now bugs.

Great travel camera

Purchased my first Nikon (A900) August 2019 and just returned from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The photos taken there were amazing. When we saw a herd of animals far away I used the telephoto at it’s max to ensure it was bison and not cattle. These shots of the bison came out OK handheld! It will take me a while to learn all the bells and whistles but it sure is fun traveling with this camera! So far so good!

ok but for charging battery

I used this camera until the battery died. Since then I ordered another battery but have been using my big cameras instead. The reason, it is frustrating to have to charge the battery with it still in the camera. Last night after all these months I decided to charge the new battery. It did not take a charge. I wish I could sent this back. With all the health issues this camera has set in its case. Bummer. I love the fact the viewer is movable like the CoolPix P500. But for the battery issue, I would never order it again.

Nikon is the BEST!

My first digital Nikon Coolpix camera was purchased in 1997 and it still works. I wanted to update so I now have the Coolpix A900 and haven't been disappointed. Another great camera from Nikon that takes unbelievable photos and very easy to operate. Someday I hope to own the Coolpix P1000.

Great Travel Camera

After purchasing this refurbished camera from Cameta Camera on 5/17/18, I have come to appreciate all of the great features it has to offer, such as, panorama, the zoom, the fold-out screen, and the compact size of the camera. Also, I especially enjoy the Wi-Fi feature on the camera- it connects with the app SnapBridge on my cell phone and all my pictures are there. This makes it much easier to send pictures. I took it on my National Park trip and shot about 520 pictures. I would greatly recommend this camera.

I have owned and gifted several Coolpix now for over 10 years and the 900 is by far the best. It focuses great and takes great pictures. If you want the best you better get the 900.

Built like a tank

Hello. I have had the A900 for almost two years now. I find it feature-rich and fairly easy to carry around easily... although I have had thinner and lighter point and shoots. The 20.1MP CMOS sensor is quite high in megapixels for a small P&S. The construction of the camera is quite good, and the controls are easy to remember and access. It has some neat in-camera settings that give you much creative leeway. The rotating screen is a nice feature, too. The images generated by the cam are very good when it comes to color rendition and clarity, even at higher magnifications. It's also nice to have 35 power and 4K movie functionality. I am very satisfied with this model, and would recommend it highly to my fellow photographers.

So far, great. I’m having a little bit of a problem transferring pictures to my phone. I think with a little bit more practice I’ll have down. Everything else is good. I love the ability to change the viewing angle of the monitor.

What a gem of a point and shoot!

This camera is so fun! It takes a bit to get used to, but takes great pictures, can focus fast and the zoom is amazing! Nice tilt screen too. I also paid the refurbished price. There's also lots of ways to individualize your shots. Get it. You'll have a great time.

Coolpix A900 is a really nice little camera

It's too big for a shirt pocket, but it's fine in a jacket or pants pocket. And the 35X optical zoom makes some shots that would otherwise only be possible with a much larger camera.

Crisp and clean shots

I love this camera. I typically use the black and white setting so I can actually see in black and white. It's got a great zoom and the macro is really good too. The shutter is a little slow but it's perfect for what I use it for. I hav a dslr too but this guy is perfect for taking anywhere.

handy, easy to use, great pictures

This is my sixth Nikon starting with my SLR film camera in the 80s. This is the best so far. My DSLR started to get too heavy for me to carry. Switched to a Coolpix510 and have had two of the smaller point and shoot Coolpix. Still love the S3500 as it is tiny but id didn't do what I wanted. This A900 is bigger but still easy to carry and does nearly everything my earlier DSLR did with better resolution. Extremely happy with my purchase. Easy to use especially since Nikon builds on previous models for features and buttons. I know most cell phones have great photo features, but nothing like this camera. Macro feature is fantastic.

Great value. Four Stars. Fast easy purchase.

Typical Nikon optics. Excellent clear photos, relatively easy to use once you figure out the controls. I am still working on learning to get the video function to focus faster and more accurately.

Kind of disappointed

Takes decent pictures in open effect conditions but bought it for taking pictures of wildlife in wooded areas. The auto focus is horrible. Will not focus on an animal when zoomed out almost 100% of the time. Also low light conditions it struggles to take decent pictures. If it had manual focous it would have been perfect.

Nikon A900 refurb

So far so good. This was for the wife and she just has always liked Nikon quality and features so we gave this one a try. It has more features than our old one that gave out at home, thankfully NOT while on Vacation!! It has a few minor blemishes but nothing to disturbing.

I enjoy using it

I've been a nikon user since 35mm FTN days. I like the sharp images and amazing zoom lens. I wish the pop-up flash mechanism wasn't so flimsy. I'm afraid I will bump it and bend it.

Nikon coolpix900 Worth a second buy!

I enjoy all the features on this camera and it quite a buy for its price, I carry it along with pentax k-70 and have all the my different phots needs when I go out on a shoot. However due to its small size I carry this 900 with me at all times to be able to capture any special opportunity. I love the 35x lens as it allows me to take pictures at a distance and not to effect the action of people and get the natural shot. Also the flip screen allows me to take pictures over the heads of people standing in front of me, and the selfi ability is a lot of fun feature. Also one can take pictures on the level of the ground with out having to get on the ground. for example one can take a picture of a lake from the level of the water and get the full effect of this vantage point. I found the dials and buttons were easy to use and the menu is useful and explains the various functions clearly. One does need to take delicate care of the flash element as it could be damaged easily. This is the second 900 I have brought. the first one has worked for me for several years and is still working, but I needed and a back up and after looking at all the cameras in this price range and their features it was my clear choice.

Great little camera

I have been using my A900 for two months and am delighted with the results. This is a great camera to take on trips into the back country. It is small, compact and light but has most of the features of a much heavier DSLR camera. The dial on top makes it easy to shoot in a variety of modes ranging from manual to fully automatic.Pictures are exceptionally sharp and colours are true. Far off objects can be brought in very close using the 35X sense. Macro shots are a breeze with just one touch o...

Great little camera

By Hikergranda

This is Hikergrandpa. Thanks for publishing the review I sent in yesterday. You somehow didn't get the 5 pictures I meant to send. So here are the 5 pictures. These pictures should be included in yesterday's review. I sure hope you get them this time.

The Nikon COOLPIX A900: Pocket-friendly Travel Companion
Made for the user with small pockets but the biggest luggage, the A900 is the perfect small camera for the user on the go. With 35x optical zoom and 70x Dynamic Fine Zoom, the camera ensures that the user is always poised to capture the perfect shot, whether watching the sun set on a beach, or soaking in a street carnival. For those looking to capture the tiniest details on their travels, the A900 also achieves sharp focus even in macro mode at a distance of approximately 1 cm. With the camera's 20.3 effective megapixels delivered with a backside-illumination CMOS sensor and high-performance NIKKOR lens, all these adventures can be captured with rich and remarkable detail, even in low light.

Shooting on the move can be tricky, be it from the back of a camel or on a tour bus. Hence the A900 is equipped with a high-performance VR that works effectively to reduce camera shake even when using the camera's 35x optical zoom. For still images, the lens-shift Vibration Reduction (VR) and electronic VR work in tandem to create beautiful, sharp images, providing an effect equivalent to a shutter speed 4.0 stops*4 faster which would come in handy when photographing activities involving children, sports or pets. Snap-back zoom also aids functionality during telephoto shooting by switching to wide-angle with the press of a button, allowing subjects that have been lost to be re-captured in focus instantly. Releasing the button allows the user to revert the zoom back to its original position.

Great photos become a breeze with a suite of functions to aid image capture. For greater convenience and ease-of-use, the A900's design incorporates Mode and Command dials. The former allows mode selections of Programmed auto, Shutter-priority auto, Aperture-priority auto and Manual while holding the camera in shooting position, while the latter enables options such as exposure control, scene mode changes, and AF area selection during shooting.

For situations that call for video creation, the A900 excels with 4K UHD video recording with stereo sound. High-definition movies with resolutions up to 2160/30p are available, along with the ability to take high-quality still images during playback. A brand new "Superlapse" function has also been introduced in addition to time-lapse capability for unique movie expressions that blend changing landscapes and unique perspectives for sharing. Useful for vloggers and those who prefer to shoot without a tripod, the camera's 4-axis Hybrid VR helps to effectively reduce the effects of camera shake during video creation.

Image creation is made fun and simple with a suite of intuitive tools to use during and after shooting. A new Creative mode allows the selection of various presets to create a personalized feel that matches the user's preferences, enabling up to 36 unique options. For dramatic images of light trails, the A900 also comes with the Multiple Exposure Lighten, a nifty new feature that composites multiple images taken with interval-timer for beautiful images of light trails and fireworks. Glamour Mode has also been incorporated into Smart Portrait Mode, with an even wider selection of intelligent options such as "Blink proof" and "Smile timer" to help subjects look their best.

In an era with ubiquitous mobile connectivity, the new application of SnapBridge, with seamless Bluetooth connection, allows images to be automatically synced to a smart device for convenient browsing and uploading. Wireless remote shooting for difficult-to-achieve shots is also possible with SnapBridge, along with the easy embedding of photo credit information and a suite of other connected features

Nikon A900 Features

  • 20 MP Low-light CMOS Sensor: takes beautiful 20 megapixel photos and 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) videos even in low light
  • Super telephoto zoom and brilliant image quality: 35x optical zoom and a whopping 70x Dynamic Fine Zoom (an enhanced digital zoom that effectively doubles the reach)
  • Always connected: Snapbridge app on a compatible smartphone or tablet* and unlock exciting new capabilities with the COOLPIX A900. Built-in Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth low energy (BLE) maintain a constant connection between the app and your camera,
  • Tilting 3.0-inch 921,000-dot LCD: The COOLPIX A900's large, tilting LCD makes it easy to compose your shots and monitor your video recording. You can also use it to find exciting new shooting angles. Reviewing and sharing your creations is a pleasure, too every shot looksfantastic on the display.
