Camera's strengths include: * 60X zoom * VR software * Has both LCD and electronic viewfinder * LCD swivels to allow for multiple viewing angles * Allows both RAW (NEF) and JPEG files * Substitutes for about 10 prime lenses * Travels well as a carry-on piece on a commercial airline flight because of its relative small size and weight In a few weeks, I'll have the chance to try out the camera's star trails capability. That should be good.

This is my fifth Nikon. The closest I have to what the B700 does is my P600. Both have 60x zoom. The video zoom for the B700 maintains focus better that the P600. However, when I am taking still shots of the moon, fully zoomed in, the P600 is crisp and clear. In order to match that quality in the B700, I need to do video with frame captures. Otherwise, if simply taking snapshots without the video, the image on the screen looks great ... until the button is pushed. Then it is blurry. Much more blurry than I could ever be satisfied with. I keep looking for an update to the firmware, hoping, trusting, that this issue will be resolved. Other than that, I am pleasantly surprised with the beauty coming from what it can do.

I've been in and out of photography for quite a while, purchasing my first SLR in 1969 as a teenager (Beseler Topcon... --I still have it). I picked this camera because of the limitations of my other cameras (small waterproof camera and of course a decent phone) because of the long zoom without having to mess around with swapping lenses (ever try to swap lenses in a blizzard?). I like to do a lot of long range landscape photos. Basically it exceeded my expectations. The variety of options for autofocus (being old school I tend to use the fixed focus frame, and choose the focus point myself) but the auto select focus and tracking are pretty interesting. Subtle things are impressive, if hard to pin down. Color is more subtle and realistic than my other cameras even though on paper (MP etc) they would seem to be similar. Especially green foliage. Also macro performance surprised me, I had expected that the long zoom would have troubles with very close subjects, and expected the smaller camera to be better, but the macro performance is quite good. Definitely worth the purchase. If you want to have one camera that pretty much will do anything your need (except very bad weather or underwater it's not weathertight), this is the choice

Great zoom lens, easy to use, love the SnapBridge connection that makes it easy to upload to my phone... I'm very satisfied.

This was my dream upgrade camera for my work in the real estate business. I photograph over 400 homes each year - that's about 10,000 photos per year. Many of those properties are at a distance from the road, and the B700 excels in being able to take crisp, clear photos as if I were standing right in front of them. I've connected both sides of the strap to the same metal loop, so I can carry the camera securely in one hand. The auto stabilizer and auto focus make sure that all the photos are great (unless I go out of my way to ruin them.) And the resolution is awesome. When I get back to my office and download the photos for editing, I always know I will have super resolution so I can zoom in on details in a shot. Even if I didn't do so when I first took the photo. A few other must-have's that I wanted in my camera - and that the Nikon B700 has - are: rechargeable LiON battery, download and recharge via USB cable, highest optical zoom I could get (this is pre-P1000 - my next dream camera!), HD, high-resolution, add on microSD card, and an adjustable-angle LCD viewer on rear. Oh, and the controls had to be drop-dead simple to operate. Nothing worse than needing a degree in reading very small print for an overly-complicated user interface. Purchased from Amazon for similar price as Nikon site. Was able to get a Square Trade extended warranty for the camera there. If there wasn't a P1000 or better, my next camera would be another B700. It's that good!

I purchased the B 700 for my wife to replace the old P90. She loves it. I also use it occasionally when I don’t have my D750 with me. I like the RAW format and the telephoto range for photographing birds. It’s easy to use, and takes good quality images. It is much lighted than my DSLR.

As a pro photographer I shoot a Nikon D500 and a D750, but I follow the truism that my best camera is the one I have with me. The B700 is compact so I always carry it, and have encountered several unexpected photo ops when my DSLRs were back home in their cases, but the small footprint B700 was at my side. It's high resolution and extreme zoom capability make it ideal as a second camera. It does such a good job that I've had several photos published which were shot with it.

A Huge Amount of Useful Scene Settings but takes getting used to them. I've never really used them with other cameras but this camera has so many that cover almost all shooting scenarios to quickly adopt correct setting shortcuts for the people like me who can't master full manual mode. There are so many it takes some getting used to them. Zoom, zoom, zoom, X60 - way more than needed for sure but great to have. I bought an aftermarket user manual that was great. Battery runs out quickly but heavy workload with screen and zoom motors and all - buy at least one extra! I bought 2 + wall charger aftermarket batteries and I usually only have to change once using 2 batteries per hours of laxidazacle photographing during walks, travel, or events but feel more secure having all 3 batteries. Great all round camera

There are many times when it is inconvenient to carry my D810 with lenses with me, but I still want the capability to take a shot when a good opportunity arises. The B700 has given me that ability on several occasions. I like to take landscape and bird pictures. I often drive by a local nature preserve on my way to work or other activities. I carry a camera with me at all times and the B700 is usually my choice when I'm also carrying other items necessary for my day. Because of this camera's capabilities and convenient size and power, I have been able to catch some great shots while on the run to other places.

I have owned my B700 for almost a year. I have used in on trips to Africa, Europe and the Caribbean. I have gotten just as good pictures as I did with my old Nikon SLR with several lenses. The B700 is easy to use, easy to carry, and has a remarkable zoom lens. You do have to be very steady when using the zoom.

This is a great camera for all around photography! My wife and I have enjoy the features of this camera. In particular the night scenes feature has been used at concerts. We also attended a Christmas light show where the B700 did very well capturing the displays.

I have had this camera for over a year. It takes the most wonderful clear pictures. We go to Mexico for a month in the winter. Every night the sky puts on a show for us when the sun sets. I have taken some of the most beautiful sunset pictures you can imagine. I had a DLSR but found it took too much time to focus and take a picture. With this camera - it's done automatically and the pictures are just as good or better. I love this camera and highly recommend it. You won't be sorry.

I have had this camera for 2 years now and have had nothing but problems with it. I took photos at a banquet and if anyone moved even slightly the photo turns out blurry. After a year of having the camera the lens seems to get stuck. I have a constant lens error, where the lens just goes in an out and you cannot get the camera to shut off. Very disappointing as this has now happened while I have taken it on vacation twice now. I ended up taking photos with my phone instead.

I purchased the B700 because I was asked to do video clips at an upcoming event and wanted to avoid using the same camera for photos and video. In learning to use the camera and taking shots around my home, every thing seemed fine in fact, outstanding. I shot an outdoor video and that turned out great as well but then a few issues began. The first is that in low light the camera seems to require much higher ISO than I would expect to use and sometimes even at higher ISOs there's still not enough light. The next problem is that on zooming in neither video nor photos are sharp. Without zooming in the photos are great and the clarity of the videos is absolutely amazing. For me the lack of sharpness is a real problem as I am being asked more and more to provide video clips. To ensure I wouldn't have to deal the lack of sharpness at an upcoming event, I purchased the D7200. Oddly enough, I like the B700 and have not returned it. I love its portability and functionality and would like to work through these issues so I can give a 5-star rating.

I love my Nikon B700. It has most of the features of the DSLR cameras, at a budget friendly cost especially considering the amazing super zoom lense. Years ago I used a film SLR which was very heavy with the various lenses. This camera is ergonomic and travels easily. I primarily use the program P mode, due to the control. For me, a view finder is a must, which B700 has. I did order additional batteries and a charger. I bought this camera for an upcoming Grand Canyon trip and an safari later in the year. You need to download the complete manual to know all the features of the camera.

Great point and shoot. It has more features then I expected. Easy to use. Love the preset: landscape, birdwatching, etc. But also has the ability to set your own. Also I like the zoom. I have an DSLR,but need to change lenses. With the B700 you have it all in one. Great vacation camera. I would recommend this camera.

After dozens of hours trying, over many months, I have yet to get photos to transfer to my iphone6. Comparing the sharpness of the photos to my d750 or my Df leaves a lot to be desired. I bought the camera to get around the no pro camera policy at my local sports venue. Being able to transfer photos to social media was a big selling point to me but, I’ve never been able to do that more than a few times. It just dozen’t want to work 99.99% of the time. The lens isn’t fast enough to stop action during sporting events. The camera mostly collects dust in the back of my closet now.

This is a very good camera. I am still working on figuring out all the bells and whistles, but overall I love it. I find it takes a little longer than I like to focus in on zoom-ins but I am sure once I get some practice with it I will get it to work better and I will be able to work better with it. Overall I am a very happy shopper and love the camera.

I have had the P600 and P610. The B700 is a bit sharper and has 4K video. It's very compact and I highly recommend it as a nice light-weight travel camera with a great 60x zoom lens.

I would recommend this camera to anyone needing a medium size travel camera. It takes excellent pictures up to about 400mm, after that the pictures are soft. I picked this camera for its wifi capabilities and for having a long lens "just in case" it is needed. I am very satisfied with this camera.

Love the camera. Feels really comfortable with just enough weight. Pics turn out beautifully and the videos are wonderful. Took it on vacation in the Canadian Rockies and was delighted with the results . Especially the videos I took of male elk fighting for supremacy during mating season.

I just got my B700, initial observations: 1. Setting up Snapbridge was quite a breeze. It happened on the first try without any hiccups. Note that this is on Android. 2. Snapbridge can operate zoom as well as take photos. Does not seem to be able to start video recording. 3. I wish they had at least 720p slow motion video but only 480p slow motion is included. 4. Jpegs on normal setting have a size of 4.5 MB, while raw files are more than 32 MB! But the difference in quality, and the amou...

I have not used it yet but it looks so much like my other one and since i was told im the first to get this in all of bc..im so happy
The first time you hold the COOLPIX B700, you'll know it's an exceptional camera. Its DSLR-style design, including a PSAM mode dial, puts key controls where you want them and feels great in your hands. The first time you zoom in with it, you'll wonder if any shot will ever be out of reach again. Subjects barely visible to the naked eye come into tight focus, held steady by cutting-edge Vibration Reduction technology. Use that power to capture stunning 20.2 megapixel RAW images, 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) videos with stereo sound or 5 FPS high-speed sequences in nearly any light. Plus, the whole time you're shooting, the COOLPIX B700 can be connected to a compatible smartphone through Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE) technology for instant photo sharing and remote camera control. This is more than a compact camera—it's a creative powerhouse.
Few shots are too far away for the COOLPIX B700's NIKKOR Super ED glass lens. 60x optical zoom gives you super telephoto power, then Dynamic Fine Zoom, an enhanced digital zoom, effectively doubles that reach for a whopping 120x zoom. Dual Detect Vibration Reduction (VR) counteracts camera shake to keep your shots steady, and a 20-megapixel backside illuminated CMOS sensor captures every detail, even in low light.
The COOLPIX B700 is a serious movie-making tool. Create with the awe-inspiring resolution of 4K Ultra HD (3840x2160) and selectable 30p or 25p frame rates. Face-priority AF keeps focus where you want it, and 5-Axis Hybrid Vibration Reduction (VR) keeps videos tripod-steady. High fidelity audio is captured with a stereo zoom mic that changes directivity according to zoom operation. Record up to 8 minutes with the touch of a button, then quickly delete unwanted footage right in the camera. Save still images while recording or during playback, connect to an HDTV with an optional HDMI cable, set autofocus to operate only when a subject moves and much more.
For those who want to preserve maximum image quality and have greater flexibility for editing images outside of the camera, the COOLPIX B700 supports RAW (NRW) image capture. Capturing in RAW format preserves all of the data captured by the image sensor, making it easier to adjust exposure settings, white balance, colors and other settings using photo editing software.
3.0-inch 921,000-dot Vari-angle LCD makes every photo and video look great. The COOLPIX B700's large, LCD display makes it easy to compose your shots or monitor your video recording. Reviewing and sharing your creations is a pleasure, too—every shot looks fantastic on the display.
Creative Mode makes it easy to create artistic photos and videos, right in the camera. Capture fireworks like never before with Multiple Exposure Lighten, which combines multiple shots into one amazing image. Turn a sequence of action into a fast-paced video with Superlapse and much more.
When you want to take control of exposure, the COOLPIX B700 is ready. Select from P/S/A/M exposure modes and the creative options will seem endless.
The COOLPIX B700 is powered by an included EN-EL23 battery that charges quickly and delivers up to 420 shots per charge. Buy a second battery, and you can always have a fully charged back-up in your bag.
When the action speeds up, simply hold the shutter button and fire off up to 5 continuous shots per second. Catch views you may not have seen before in your photos.
This camera’s built-in Wi-Fi® capability can only be used with a compatible iPhone®, iPad®, and/or iPod touch® or smart devices running on the Android™ operating system. The Nikon SnapBridge application must be installed on the device before it can be used with this camera.
