This camera can do so many things, and excel in each one, that the only photography I consider cannot do is Sky Diving and Scuba Diving. I can picture a rare ant in the middle of the Amazon, the moon with one mile detail, and film the birthday party. And all details in a F1 race, from drivers to public. Only concern, a little heavy for ladies.

It handles very well as easily as the Hasssleblad orBronica, has all of the toys built in, zoom is amazing. I would say for the price, it is the camera of the future

For what it does, it's great! I use several different bridge cameras because not one can do everything. The P1000 is my go to for lunar shots, birds and other wildlife, and anything that requires a HUGE zoom. It's also very good for macro shooting. It's strengths make up for it's weaknesses, just like me, according to my spouse! :-)

After struggling with 5lb telephoto lenses to try to capture birds this camera is a delight. It is convenient to carry around and lets you grab great photos even hand held. The quality of the photos lets you blow then up to even 20x24. Glad I purchased this.

Nikon Coolpix 1000. I met a guy last winter at Alma, Wisconsin taking Bald Eagle photos with this camera. He has shot photos for years and love this camera. I decided to order one. It was on back order for a couple of months. Finally it arrived and it is wonderful! I'm not a very skilled photographer, but I love to take pictures. This is a lot of fun and so far I have taken some good pictures. As I get more used to it and learn more about it;s features, I am sure it will be much more enjoyable. I call it the "Beast" and it's a blast!

The Nikon P1000 has an incredible focal length of 24-3000mm and an optical zoom of 125x. It has the most zoom of any bridge, superzoom camera on the market as of this writing. As a birder I get decent, identifiable pics of birds very far off that other birders simply can't identify without a scope. The only major drawback is that the sensor is small(16MP 1/2.3-inch) so pics usually aren't tack-sharp and low-light situations are a challenge. The camera has some quirks that as a P1000 user you will learn to get used to. On occasion the camera will freeze up and the only way to get it started again is to take the battery out and re-insert it. The batteries don't hold charge long so I always keep a couple extra batteries in my pocket. Generic batteries are extremely inexpensive and hold charge just as well as the Nikon batteries in my opinion. I bought my first P1000 when it first came out in 2018. I now have two of them- one I keep as a spare. Be careful not to drop the camera as it is extremely touchy. Mine has been dropped twice and each time I have had to take it in to be repaired.

All in all it is what I expected, great zoom reach on small sensor (point and shoot quality shots), point and shoot limitations with focus/zoom I didn't expect to use the Snapbridge and it didn't work when I tried to connect my phone to the camera (seems their update last year broke a lot of folks). Notes: If you expect this to connect to a phone, you may be very disappointed (I haven't gotten it to work at all, I don't care about that though). Autofocus is very slow at full zoom, expected as it likely needs lots of light, it is fine for stationary stuff and predictable movement. Once you take a shot, the zoom appears to not function for a bit of time (5-10 seconds), guessing it is while the camera catches up to write to the card. So if you are say taking a snapshot of something that moved and you want to zoom out/back in to re-acquire it you need to wait for the zoom again (it also won't take another shot).

The zoom in this camera is phenomenal. I have been able to get some phenomenal pictures. However, it's fairly heavy and stabilizing the camera without a tripod is very tricky when it's zoomed all the way. The auto focus is a bit persnickety. I will get it to focus on my subject, take a picture, prepare to take a second picture and it refocuses on a twig of a tree half way to the subject. It has taken some time to get used to the interface, but that might be because I have been using Canon cameras for the last 15 years. I'm still working on getting proficient with this camera. The zoom is really second to none.

The P1000 has met and exceeded my expectations. The zoom is amazing, and I’ve barely scratched the surface of all its abilities. This is a great “do it all” camera. Plus Adorama’s customer service is terrific, I have purchased from them many times.

I love the camera. It is perfect for my needs. The zoom is incredible. The tripod and bag are too small for this camera, but everything else in the bundle makes it more than worth the price.

Love the camera. It's a keeper! For someone into birding, the zoom is fantastic. It takes great pictures. As for the package...battery and charger seem to be good. I haven't used the filters yet. The camera fits in the case just barely. The screensaver is worthless as it doesn't fit the camera screen. I called customer service about it and they said they would send another which they promptly did. The new one was also the wrong size. I ended up buying the correct one.

Nice camera. Great features. Really like the thumb switch for auto/manual focus mode that works with the barrel ring. One thing though is this camera is BIG. I have no trouble with it, but the size was somewhat surprising. It's size might even make you reconsider whether you take it on a trip. Super mega zoom is fantastic and stabilized well. If you're going to use it on a tripod, you might want to get a mount adapter that changes the center of gravity mounting point when that big zoom is fully extended. Overall, its image quality is fairly good (to me anyway) and it's way easier (and lighter) than carrying an dSLR with a few large lenses. Might be pocket-able if you're wearing extreme cargo pants.

All that I desired in this powerful zoom photographic tool. My challenge was to shoot a sequence of shots using Zoom and Continuous Mode to capture a chickadee flying into a birdhouse to feed its young. Have created a nice set of 10 progressive shots for a montage. Captured both at 1/1600 and 1/2500 with latter requiring Lightroom work, but results have me pumped. Nice lightweight tripod came with the package that will become my hiking tripod. Also a surprise plus. Forget the printed manual. Download the Nikon PDF for the P1000 which is comprehensive.

Phenomenal zoom capability. Within an hour shot an incredible photo of a goldfinch from 30 yards and a lawn sign from 100 yards. Working now on getting multiple shot sequence of a chickadee in flight approaching our birdhouse.

Been great so far. Came with a uv/protective lens, which was very nice. The zoom on this thing is a beast. This bundle seems like a great value. It even has 2 batteries, and a travel charger, so you can charge one while still taking shots.

Zoom is all you need to know. I really love the camera. I bought it to capture pictures of wildlife around my home. It does take some getting used to as the camera at long zoom is difficult to control freehand. But I have been very happy with my pictures. The camera is bigger than what I expected but it is versatile for an amateur photographer like myself. There is a lot to learn about the camera but I am enjoying the learning process.

I originally obtained the P1000 to check out the amazing optical zoom range, but have fallen in love with what I can do at "close" range with this camera! Whilst, yes, the zoom has allowed me to take some remarkable wildlife and bird shots that I would not have been able to obtain before; the macro abilities using that zoom are wonderful! I have taken close ups of bumble bees from 20 feet away that have received outstanding reviews. I would highly recommend this camera to both those just wanting the long lens, and to those who want more!

Better than D500 or is it?
By Dmitriy
Biggest complain I read about this camera from early reviewers. it is big. I agree, this girl is rather voluptuous. But it is not larger than D500 if you F mount Nikkor 18-300 on it. Matter of fact P1000 is only 35g (roughly 1.5 oz) heavier. But then again, D500 with that lens has 10 times lesser reach. I’m planning a big trip in a month and I am honestly debating should I take my new P1000 that will give me flexibility between macro and 3000mm or should I take much more advanced and faster D...

WOW is the only thing you can say about this camera. If you want to capture far away objects, this is the only choice!
By BeamMeUpScotty
I'll keep this short and sweet. PRO: Unbelievable zoom capabilities. I love astrophotography, and this baby can shoot the moon like no other camera. I can shoot individual craters now - a feat previously obtainable only with a telescope. Mars and Venus look like spherical objects, and the polar ice caps of Mars are visible. I can resolve the rings of Saturn with ease, the moons of Jupiter are child's play, and even the Cassini division of Saturn's rings is possible on a clear night. Terrestri...
