I am really glad I got this camera. And I have gotten so many compliments on the pictures and even expert friends are impressed with this camera. I uploaded a video of images and videos taken with this camera on Youtube. Some of those were the best I have ever taken.

I normally carry a D600 or D7000 with me when I'm working or photographing my art. But, sometimes I need a light point and shoot just for snapshots or family fun. This P310 is an excellent point and shoot camera that has all the adjustments a pro or semi-pro photographer will want. That means you can put it in aperture priority mode with manual ISO and white balance when you want, or you can switch to auto-everything when you can't be bothered. The quality of the images is excellent, with enough resolution to make PS adjustments and print large. The lens opens up to f1.8 on the wide end, which means flash isn't often needed. The price is right--pick one up while you still can.

This little camera goes from program to manual operation. Great photos. No real limits for a point and shoot. Fast lens is great for those dark indoor shots.

Very useful and handy. Very good lens with 24mm full-frame equivalent and f1.8 max aperture. Small sensor (1/2.3") limits picture size, as does lack of raw capture (both features found on newer - and more expensive - P330). Still, hard to beat the price-features-size combo.

I'm an avid hobbyist and picked up a refurbished P310 to use as a daily carry around. I have purchased several refurbished Nikon items (dslr, kit lens, nice 28-70 zoom & the P310). Every single one of those items has gone back to Nikon. To Nikon's credit, all the equipment returned to me in working order. In addition to being cheap, you could say that I'm incredibly unlucky, but I've begun to suspect that "refurbish" may not mean the same thing to Nikon as it does to me. I'll probably buy refurbished Nikon equipment again, but some buyers may not like this experience. The seller (Adorama) has always been outstanding to work with -- highly responsive, friendly (even through call center & email) and fast. After getting a working P310, and having it for only 2 weeks, the P310 is ok for the purpose. It's better than most cell phone & tablet cameras. It fits in my briefcase. I like having aperture priority, manual, assignable Fn button (I use it for ISO) and rich menu of scene settings. The sensor size and some quirky on-board software seems to make it less than ideal for dynamic (very bright and very dark in one frame) situations, and the on-board HDR seems a bit soft. Battery life is pretty poor, though I had been shooting some video with the camera. I have a lot more to learn about getting the most out of the camera, and expect that I'll learn to like it as I do so. On the whole, the camera meets my expectations for an affordable walk-around that offers a good level of control. Buyer beware of refurbished Nikon products.

A good overall camera. The LCD is large and pictures are clear and crisp. While I bought the camera for taking pix of animals, I'd hoped for a shorter lag/shutter delay. That said, I need to play with it more.

The Nikon P310 is about as non-intuitive as a camera can get. You are constantly scrolling through menus and playing with various settings to take a simple shot. It's almost as if the system is designed to make you just put the dial on AUTO and let the camera do all the work. But in the only area that counts, this camera is a massive FAIL!!!! Nikon has been known for it's picture quality since Moses first used a Nikon point & shoot during his racing career. He would not have liked the P310. I also have a five year old Canon A3000is that smokes the P310 in EVERY respect! The ten meg Canon images are sharper and far crisper than the sixteen meg Nikon P310. The P310 images are littered with artifacts, the autofocus is very slow and cumbersome and compared to my Canon, the P310 is a royal pain to operate! I wish I had the camera that everyone else here has, because MY P310 is is not nearly as wonderful as the others that have been reviewed here.

Nice point and shoot camera having more advanced functions. It's compact and the fast aperture allow low light shooting making this camera a better choice than any point and shoot on the market. Unfortunately the service is very poor as the camera was offered for lower days later and customer service refused to credit the difference.

This little camera is great! It looks very simple but with great performance. I'm always using my smartphone in taking photos before but I'm not satisfied with the results but since I bought and used this camera, I'm very satisfied and love the photos I'm getting from it. More people are liking my photos. There was a time when we had a Summer Outing and some of my companions are using big DSLR cameras (from different brands) in taking photos- I was kinda get insecure at first but I took photos anyway, and the time all of us uploaded our taken photos in facebook more people liked and praising my photos than my DSLR user companions. My photos look sharper than them specially at night time. This camera changed my photo taking experience. Thank you very much Nikon! and I will look forward to my next camera purchase from you.

Good camera I just didnt like the little quirks about it. 1- cant charge battery out of camera, it has to sit out on counter to charge. But bought this camera for cost issue, dont want to pay more for wall charger. 2- white balance seems slow, when change scenes have to wait for it to change seems like a firmware update might help? 3- be careful with battery door kinda weak feeling. Tech specs say 4 sec. longest shutter but its wrong it stays open for 8 secs. So if you want low light shots city lights sunset, put on tripod and you can get good shots. Its a nice camera just not for me. If just your main camera its nice for sure its a great price. The quirks are just me they might not bother someone else.

Quanto à filmagem, obtive excelentes resultado no modo automático e programado e todos no modo normal. Excelente câmera, nota máxima. M.Leandro

Had the camera for a few weeks. Took it to take pictures at an indoor volleyball game last weekend. Manual overide capability made it usable at the indoor environment without flash. Wide angle pictures were pretty sharp, but with decent amount of distortion. f1.8 at the wide end was great and allowed for faster shutter speeds important for action shots. (flash would have been worthless as the subjects were so far away) Tele photos weren't sharp toward the edges....Almost looking like a Lensbaby shot with only the middle sharp. Also, at Tele, the aperture forced slow shutter speeds that could not stop sports action, which forced me to stay at the wide angle settings. Video, however, was good at 1080, not choppy nor did I see tearing even with fast panning or high speed motion typical in sports. Overall, not quite my SLR, but can make do and better than not having any camera at all. Afterall, that's what a pocketable camera is for...to have it with you most of the time, right? Good value for the discounted price these days. Not sure if it would have been worth it at full MSRP.

ok this is a 2 part review Now for the first part the P310 does perform very well as long u stay in its strength zone and use manuel controles get outside of this the photos does suffer some but u can use the shutter speed to help with it . so what are its strength the I.S.O. setting set it ether at 100 ISO in daytime then at eveing and night time go to the auto setting of 100--400 or 100---800. leave it there then go to the shutter control's and set it to what ever u r trying to shoot i do recommend getting a tripod for this do to slow shutter speeds that u might be shotting at but it performs well i love this camera it makes a great street photography camera it is small very quite once u turn off the sounds the controles are perfect as for me i would not wont no built in wi-fi or gps in this camera i dont mind shooting jpeg ether why i say this? becuse they can use the extra room inside the camera for my next part the part 2 of this review this is where im getting on a soap box and rant please nikon i am not alone in this and its not me just saying this ether. ok like my title says For the love of photography nikon why? do u still a aspen size sensor i this camera and cram 16mp on top of it knowing it going to make noise at 800 iso and above ? are u doing this for market reason ? u need to stop it becuse u r only hurting yourslef it make no sense to me that the P-series "performance series" has 3 cameras in them 2 of them has the same sensor and processor as the rest of the coolpix cameras but u r willing to charge us a premium price for them? why dont u do what every outher milllon reviews for the P-510 and P310 says but the same thing inside these cameras as u do in the P7700 the meaty big postel stamp size sensor and processer as u do in the p7700 the P510-P310 compeate in a very tuff market area not only i believe it but every person does to that it be tied for 1st and win many awards if you are willling to do this one simple thing on the p310 the controls are perfect the size to me is perfect as for me i dont need gps or wi-fi built in to it instead of trying to shoe horn that into why dont u use that space for outher goodies like beefer processor and sensor mabey tone down the f/stops love the f-1.8 since it dont have a long zoom only 4.2x why dont u stop it at 2.8 ? i see len's that are long zoom that are f-2.8 why cant this camera have that ? i think it would make this camera the go to camera in this category picture it people THE P310 WITH 1/1.7 CMOS SENSOR 12MP WITH F-1.8--2.8 LENS WITH FULL MANUAL CONTROLS 4.3MM-17.9MM LENS REACH HOW CAN U GO WROUNG WITH THAT ???? OK NOW I WILL STOP let me leave you with this i do recommend u getting a class 10 card with a high write speed of 400x or greater to get the maxium performance out of this camera dont get me wroung with my rant i love the camera for what it for what it does as long u stay in its strength zone remember it has got a 1/2.3 sensor at 16mp like i said above if they dail that back to 12mp and put a 1/1.7 sensor in it i think it will perform 10x better

(I own a P300, but since the P310 is nearly the same camera I thought I would write the review here) Best sub-$300 point and shoot camera I've ever owned! I bought it to use as a back-up and something small to carry hiking. The best things are: - It has a good manual mode (with a light meter function that you can see on screen!) and even in the other modes it shows your aperture and shutter speed which can be adjusted using the top selection wheel. - Very close focus distance in Macro mode. - Very, very fast focus speed and write time (I bought a Sandisk Extreme 8GB card to go with it), especially for a point n' shoot. - Nice big screen and simple controls. - Changes to options stay set (such as Macro) even when you turn off the camera (I used a Canon elph 100hs that had to be set on macro every time you turned it on). - Fast 1.8 lens (un-zoomed). Bad Things: - No RAW capability. - USB/A-V out plug is on the bottom so you have to lay the thing on it's back to hook up to power or a computer. - Weak flash and no hot-shoe. Unless you can go up to the Canon S100 (more than I wanted to spend) or to the Olympus XZ-1 (a bit too large for what I wanted to carry in my pocket) the P310 is a great little camera.

With my Nikon S600, I took its small, compact manual with me whenever I traveled. Even with my D5000 I can take the manual with me. Now this option does not exist. I will have to carry about lots of pages that I have printed. If a printed manual were available, even for a price, I'd buy it in a flash. I hope Nikon changes their policy of making the manual available only on a CD.

The Nikon Coolpix P310 Digital Camera (Black) has one of the fastest lenses around--an f/1.8-f/4.9 24-100mm (equivalent in 35mm format) 4.2x zoom lens for great low-light results and shallow depth of field. With a top shutter speed of 1/2000 second, ultra-fast start-up, quick autofocus, 7fps continuous shooting capability and sensitivity up to 3200 ISO, the P310 is a real speed demon.
An amazing 16.1MP CMOS sensor, a bright, very high resolution (921K dots) TFT LCD monitor and 1080p full HD video puts the P310 into an elite league. It's loaded with advanced features like Optical VR image stabilization, Motion Detection and D-Lighting to help you produce gorgeous pictures under even the most difficult lighting conditions.
Special effects such as Backlight HDR and Easy Panorama expand your creative possibilities. And the Smart Portrait System will catch a subject's smile every time, while warning you when your subject blinks. It will also correct for redeye automatically while shooting. You can take full control of all the settings (with PASM), or use Programmed Auto for optimal settings, automatically. Take a P310 for a quick spin and you'll want to take it home.
