Amazing camera in a smal package

Wonderful professional controls in a point and shoot camera. A Nikon thoroughbred with picture controls a pro will desire in the convenience of a pocket camera. Feels great in your hand with a sure rubberized grip. Sharp consistent pictures with the ability to shoot in RAW format for the ultimate control in post processing. The GPS is slow to acquire and uses a lot of battery power. This is easily controlled via the set-up menu. Highly recommended as a second camera for a pro or an enthusiasts camera who is reluctant to take the leap into the DSLR world.

Great Photos&Features,miniBattLife,

Keep in my briefcase when I travel for work. Tough construction and great performance. Excellent Image quality and color. I've got 4 batteries now and always carry them and the charger. This is not my primary camera but it serves this purpose well. Also love the belt case Nikon sold with it. Not much bigger than a cell phone and makes it easily available.

WOW, it does everything promised!

I have been looking for a camera that I can use in the city (NYC) and not look like I'm actually working. This camera is perfect for this use. For the casual photographer, this high end compact will make him/her a better photographer. Just read the instructions and take a lot of photos.

Nikon P6000

Great camera for the advanced but may scare the brand new photographers due to being too many functions. Otherwise I throughly enjoy the camera as a back-up or when i do not want to carry my SLR system.

I would purchase the Nikon Coolpix P6000

I purchased this camera as a back up to use when I don't want to carry my DSLR equipment aound with me. The pictures are very sharp, the VR works great. So far it is the best point and shoot camara I have owned. I am getting very good quality landscapes with it. I generally keep my 70-200 tele zoom on my Olympus for wildlife and use the Nikon coolpix p6000 for landscapes.

GREAT small Nikon

This is a great supplement to my D40 and D5000 Nikon cameras as it is small and easy to throw in the car or in my wife's purse. The quality of photographs is above my expectations and we use it frequently.

Good buy and Nikon re-furbs are a deal!

I have had good experience with a previous Nikon refurbished camera - a CoolPix 885 - so I thought - for the price -- Adorama had a very good price on the P6000. I shoot people pix, street photography and in clubs by available or stage light. I want a camera where I can adjust for changing color temp lights. I also own a small MicroPanels LED light for for fill and it will fit on the P6000. I keep a sturdy monopod in my car for low light shooting stability. So call me a semi-pro photog. Nikon does not seem to know how to pitch this high a level p&s camera. Us former camera shop clerks KNEW that this was to compete with the wonderful Canon G7,G9,G10, and G11 cameras. Canon supports and plugs their G series while Nikon has Ashton Kutcher pitching other parts of it's` line to younger demographic groups. I own a Leica D Lux 3 and a Canon G7 - both great cameras but the P6000 gives me internal filters for b&w shooting, time-lapse in still or movie mode, a good mix of shooter menu choices and is in size - between that of my Leica and Canon G7. It's robust in construction and fits my coat pocket - for "every day carrying". The battery seems to last as long as the one on my D Lux 3 - which is a good amount of time. Yes - it has a GPS device but I am unsure how often that I will need it or if it will add to battery drain. I like the hot shoe option for external flash. I like the lens range. I like the 2 U modes - user setting modes (on my Canon G7 - the user defined settings often don't hold). I have one set up for 400 ASA b&w and the other for 80 ASA speed Vivid color shooting. I am about 2 years behind in shooting in RAW and want to go in that direction - the P6000 accommodates RAW. Would I consider taking this camera on a 2 week trip to Europe - YES! With a spare battery, universal charger and a 4GB SDHC card or three! Now the camera draw-backs - you need to charge the battery IN the camera (I am ordering another maker self standing charger from Adorama!); no grid-line options in the viewfinder (Leica + Canon have them in several variations); older Nikon series digital flashes will NOT work properly in the P6000 as Nikon has again changed the shoe config - thus making a current Nikon flash for it cost MORE than the camera; and Nikon adds yet another UR ring adapter for the accessory wide angle lens. For those of us with older Nikon CoolPix cameras - none of the wonderful Nikon w/a or tele adapters are interchangeable to newer cameras. My fish-eye adapter on my old CoolPix 885 was great for VERY wide angle shots in low light and not fish-eye shooting! I am perplexed that I cannot set aperture to anything greater than f7.7! Yes - the shutter speeds are high but WHY NOT the option to set the lens at f8-f16??? Other than that? Haven't shot a pic with the built-in flash - though tried my Nikon 50DX flash to see if it would work as a more powerful unit - it links but way over-exposes. It's a very, very good camera for the price and has a Nikon 90 day warranty. Do buy the $22 Nikon P6000 case from Adorama to protect all from scratches, probably another battery and also a free-standing charger. Adorama now has kits that you should look at. This IS a good deal on a good camera....

Like brand new.

Very good compact camera. Great for those times when you don't want to bring your DSLR. Unlike P&S's this takes an accessory flash which is more powerfull than built-in flash. It also saves the camera's battery and allows bounce flash. It has a viewfinder which most P&S's don't have. It allows shooting RAW for those who want that. On the negative side, it is not good at ISO's over 400. 800 is barely OK. Above that is very noisy. This is a camera for serious photographers who want a compact camera. It is a waste of money for the casual P&Ser.

Great little camera

I have Nikon D200 and a D300. Love them both but got tired of lugging one of them all the time. The P6000 fits on my belt and goes whenever I don't require one of my DSLRs.
