I've made pics with this camera of snow scenes (daytime and nighttime), foggy days, night photos, urban wildlife, etc. All have turned out well. Most recently, made pics of the local July 4 fireworks event, using the Fireworks setting under the Scene mode, using a tripod for the camera's indicated exposure of 4 seconds at f8. The photos turned out well. (Having the relatively large LCD was a help on this occasion.) For available light - or available darkness - the P80's upper limit of ISO 6400 is a useful tool. If I'm going to a destination to make photos, the situation is somewhat unknown, and a DSLR isn't an option, then the P80 is the camera to have.

My dad gifted this camera to me in my college days. I was impressed by the image quality of this camera. It has similar functions and features of a SLR camera and got to learn a lot about photography through experimenting with this little masterpiece..!!! My love for Nikon cameras took a one step ahead and now i have purchased a Nikon D5100 SLR camera a year back. Lots of similarity in functions but as you know, there is a difference between Audi TT and Audi R8 Ultra.. !!!

I seem to get a grain effect in every photo especially in indoor photos. The manual settings are of no help.

I've had my P-80 since it first came out. It is a tough no nonsense camera that has enabled me to take some excellent photos over the years. I paid a lot for it, but all these years later I am still more than satisfied. Great camera.

Hi, I got this camera in Dec, 2008 and its a great camera. Lots of features and a lot easy to use. Even after 3 years my battery life is great (the trick is to take the battery out when storing the camera and use viewfinder instead of LCD display). I have loads of fun using this camera. I am fond of it. The 18X zoom is a life saver. The only problem I think it has is, the image is grainy (when taken in zoom / night time). The video quality is not that great. Apart from this, I would recommend this camera to any person. I dont agree that it doesnt take macro good. It is pretty decent. Thanks for taking out time to read this review.

Love this camera as I received it as a gift three years ago. Earlier this year the zoom would get stuck and start to make noise like the shutter is stuck. I can turn off and it will do the same. It is sporadic. I see someone else wrote the same thing about this camera.

My CoolPix 100 is a great camera! I can capture great wildlife and outdoor shots in a moment which is just what I need. I can't recommend this product highly enough.

I've used my Nikon P80 these past 2,5 years. A few months ago i dropped my camera on the floor and now the problems pops up. Sometimes I got a message which says that it's something wrong with the objective. The display is flashing, like a broken strip light. The batteries is VERY bad now. Before, I could use the camera for a long time before before the power ran out. But now, my camera is warning me for low battery after like 10 minutes of using. One thing that's kind of difficult if you're a new beginner with this camera is to get focus when you're taking macro-photos. That's something you got to learn with this camera. BUT it's not inpossible to get beautiful photos with this camera. One last thing, the lens cap comes of really easily, so it's easily happend that the lens may get scratches. (I'm from Sweden, so excuse me if I've spelled something wrong)

This is a great all around point and shoot. I have used it for three years and within that time have grown to understand all of its components. It's a truly amazing camera that I have had NO trouble with whatsoever. Know how to adjust ISO settings indoors and outdoors and you'll do fine.

Having great luck with previous Nikon products I purchased the P80 a couple of years ago. When trying to take indoor photos the camera will not focus no matter what the lighting or flash mode or battery charge. I have missed so many great photos because of this. I have sent the camera in for repairs twice - my first camera was replaced due to other major issues. I wish I went with a different camera!

We have had the P80 for about three years now and it has been excellent! It has "big camera" features built into a small frame. Image quality is very good, battery life is long, has a setting for almost every purpose.

I got my camera and soon after the screen went white. it had only been sitting on my dresser and they would only fix it for an expensive price. now i've had it for about a year and the flash doesn't work anymore and i haven't used the flash that much. i wouldn't recommend this product.

I purchased the Nikon CoolPIX P80 digital camera and have enjoyed using this product. For the most part, I am satisfied with the quality and ease of use. Having been able to use the camera at least weekly, I am considering purchasing a SLR camera in the near future. I find that even though the CoolPIX P80 has only 10 MP, the quality is quite good.

Overall, I would have to say this is one of the best cameras I've ever used. It has many features, which makes it great for shooting all kinds of subjects. The 18x zoom definetely comes in handy when you can't close enough to take a decent photo. There are really only two problems I have with it, and neither of them are a big deal. First, you have to download software to get your pictures, but that's really not a problem, just a little inconvenient. Second, you can only take 30 minutes of video at a time. Besides these two minor things, I would reccomend this camera to anyone who wants good quality pictures and videos!!

This camera does just about everything that a much heavier, bulkier, and more expensive SLR would do within a very wide range of lens capacities. I don't notice the absence of a mirror, but what I do notice is the absence of several pounds to carry around.

I was overwhelmed by all of the features this camera has and the price was great. I'm not much of a camera buff and this has more than I'll ever use. For someone into photography, I think it's great.

it really made us happy for our new camera. it was really worth the price. the only negative thing about it is i have to remove the lens cover to view the pictures unlike our nikon coolpix 4300 that has a review setting on the knob. BUT OTHER THAN THAT, NIKON COOLPIX P80 IS REALLY A COOL CAMERA. WE WOULD ALWAYS BUY A NIKON

After many years of photography, the digital age opens up great advantages. Bad photo, erase it. I am a dedicated fan of Nikon, and the excellent shutter speeds on both film and digital Nikon cameras. I still use my Nikon film camera, and have moved into the digital SLR family as well. I figured having a simple point and shoot for the small less taxing jobs would be great too. I researched the Nikon P80, and felt it would be just what I wanted. It has great zoom capabilities, easy controls, and is perfect for the times carrying a full heavy case is not necessary. Pardon the analogy, but it is very handy for the "drive by" unexpected shots. I enjoy having the higher megapixel in a small camera as well. A nice camera to carry just about anywhere. I like the construction of this model, and the choice of shooting through the lens or LCD. Great all around camera for anyone in my opinion. Life happens fast, and capturing moments that last for a lifetime will always be my greatest hobby.

the camera is alluring when i saw the ultra zoom and lens attachments capability! But the camera has a very slow focus response which leads to blurry pics mostly. It gives nice pictures in day but has bad performance in the night. Even the videos are not good at all! ! the camera is OK!

Wanted to like this camera it feels very nice in the hand but that's where it ends. The camera takes it upon itself to turn any and all colors "up a notch". It unnecessarily brightens and emboldens the color so as to render it completely untrue to the original subject. Even after manually overriding and setting up a custom cool flash, low saturation setting - the colors were still untrue. Ended up returning the camera.

You cannot go wrong with this camera. The 18 zoom is exactly that. The photos pick up every detail with amazing color and clarity. I would have paid more for this camera after using it. You can't get better in a point and shoot. this camera will excel all its competition in this line.
