This is a truly wonderful camera! I have captured eagles in flight, the majesty of Mt. Denali (McKinley), the semi darkness of the blue grotto and pictures of paintings by great artists. The technology of the camera is very intuitive. The manual settings are very useful even for a relative novice like me. Shutter speed is very good. Battery life is excellent (but I do carry an extra battery "just in case").

I bought this camera for the zoom but I have had so many blurry pictures and quality is so poor. I have tried to change setting and even reset all. Nothing helps. I can not count on this camera to take a good picture when I need it to. I emailed Nikon to see if they could help find a setting that would work all the time. I have not received anything back. I've had trouble since day one. I wonder if something was wrong with the camera to begin with. VERY DISAPPOINTED. I am going back to Sony.

I've had it for over 3 years and got it when I decided I wanted nicer pictures, and more control over those pictures - but at the same time didn't really want to go through the hassle of learning and the cost of getting a DSLR. Before getting this camera I found that every year I felt like I wanted a newer or better camera, and I've yet to feel the urge to replace this one. People are constantly asking me what kind of camera I use, and I am always more than happy to tell them and then to point them to the newer available models. Oh and battery life - mine is awesome. I use it for long periods of time all the time and I so rarely have to charge the battery that I often forget to when it actually does die. The one con I can think of - it is really hard to get good pictures using the flash. They almost always turn out just eh.

This camera is great for those that don't want to carry around lots of other equipment like DSLR users do. One item, the camera, is all you need! Took it on mountain climbs, sailing races, and sky diving. The shots were fabulous! The optical zoom alone is worth the money.

As a photo guide in Alaska I have used this camera under some of the most grueling condition mother nature can handle such as sub zero temps well below the rated zone. This camera responded flawlessly sure it slowed down and the battery life shortened the P90 gave me the results I wanted, sharp and true to life images. The P90 is with me at all times and has provided some stunning photos even after after a few good hits. After 9000 photos it still reacts like new. One surprise was the black and white mode, it has a tendacy to shoot towards the flat side but with some tweeking its workable. One use of this camera is taking test shots for my 4x5 the images are enough to use them as guide photos. The P90 is built to nikons high standards and will continue using it, its a nice addition to my collection of nikon gear.

I was given this camera as a gift from my parents last summer (July 2010). It worked great, took amazing photos, was practical. About 11 months into my ownership of this camera, I began having lens problems. I take amazing care of my cameras, and at first the problem was infrequent. Then over the next couple months it began happening more frequently. The lens would come out and retract over and over again until I pulled the battery (the power button would not work). If I left the camera for a day or so, it would begin working properly again. Sometimes it would go weeks without doing it then it would come back again. I don't use my camera everyday or even every week so it had time of rest before this last time that I took it out and I was able to take one photo before the lens began acting up and this time it wasn't stopping. I let it sit for days and finally took it home to my dad who then had to mail it back to be fixed for some $100+. This camera is a year and a half old. It failed less than a year and a half after its purchase. My dad has been using Nikon film products since he was a teenager and has come to expect excellence in all their products, as have I. I am very disappointed in this situation and with this product.

I love the P90 CoolPix that we bought. It is practical and offers many advantages. I have used SLR equipment and this is a great camera to take around without the bulk of lenses, filter and other gadgets, for simple photography... it is definitely an amazing buy! I get lots of compliments on the work produced just as well as on a higher resolution more professional equipment I have used. Really happy.

I recieved this camera for my birthday after researching others, and i LOVE it!!! I take it to sports events and the photos come out amazing, clear and in focus. Superb outdoors, lacks a little when it comes to indoor pictures, but if you read the manual then it can easily be adjusted. Love the zoom photos turn out clear doesn't matter if you are close up or across the field. Very user friendly!

This camera is outstanding. I took pictures without reading the manual for a while. I thought they were great until I read the manual and found out what the camera can really do. Any skilled photographer can take exceptional pictures with this camera. I'm very happy I bought it.

My pictures that I have taken with this camera have won multiple contests around the state and nation! I've had this camera for over a year. Overall pretty good camera. The main problem is the grain. LOTS OF GRAIN/NOISE. I shoot Manual, but I never shoot above ISO 200. Simply because you just can't. Other than that it's fine. But that's a pretty big problem in my opinion. The focusing is decent. Not the best but, the camera will get very good macro if you hold it steady and let it focus for multiple seconds. Which is a drag. The zoom. It's amazing. Best thing about the camera, hands down.I only plan on keeping this camera until around December-January when I upgrade to a DSLR. I really hope they come out with the *rumored* newD90 before than! If you look at the example pictures, You can tell the camera get pretty good color.

I've had this camera about 8 months now and find it to have some great qualities. For an above line point and shoot the zoom is great but needs to be held very steady at full zoom. One of the most disappointing features is with indoor shots using the flash. When comparing shots with other less expensive cameras the Nikon P90 seems to fall considerably behind in photo quality and color.

Love my camera. I've had it a year and a half. Pros- Instant use abilities, great camera options, almost great in pictures, great software. Cons- Too many options for one scene. After the moment has passed I can find myself wondering if I should've chosen indoor/party? or Portrait?, or close up? or museum? My zoom seems to be not working properly and it wont focus on close up shots these past two days which concerns me. I must find out how to get that looked at. So I feel maybe its not so much user friendly and even though I have learned it...training family to use it is another story. Yes I enjoy it every single day...I use it for work also as I am marketing so I need it, but I cant wait to get something with a better zoom ability.

My only question is what are people using for a case/cover? I just want something simple to cover it when I am not using it. Something where I can still carry it around my neck. Am I crazy? After getting familiar with it for 6 months, I traveled with it. I found myself using it in MANUAL mode 95% of the time to prevent over and under exposure. The ZOOM range is amazing, although I used digital zoom in only max MGP. However I wasn't happy with the high-end ISO settings. Any setting above 320 was very grainy and 6400 was useless. I would have liked a manual focus, taking pictures through glass gave off-focus pictures. I took about 800 pictures traveling, and about 3/4 were OK. Editing with software recovered another 15%. Bottom line, I got some amazing shots, and I got some real "dogs". Would I buy another Nikon? YES!! But with a manual/auto focus. Would I recommend it? Yes but make sure you understand all the features.

I do not want it out of my site because it is the best thing ever. It is easy to use, has a fantastic zoom, about a mile can look like the back of your hand. I bought this camera last year before our dream trip to Alaska. I figured I needed the best zoom possible because not all animals would be close to the road or trail. I was right and the 24X zoom proved invaluable. We took over 700 pictures and at least 80% were keepers and 25% were WOW. Plan to attend a Nikon school to get the WOW percentage up.

I've had this camera for over a year and it is a great camera. The only problem with the camera is the shutter lag. It's brutal, for me at least. It drives me nuts. Except for that it's typical Nikon quality. I wouldn't buy any other brand. One of these days I'm going to buy my D300S.

I received this camera as christmas present which I requested. With 2 grand kids on the way I wanted one that would take great pics. At christmas pictures were great. 1st grand child same great pictures. 2nd grand child the pictures were grainy. Not sure what mode I was in but could not get the pictures right. Still working with it, so many modes it gets confusing. My one grief is the battery charger with the cord. Nikon should have taken a lesson from Panasonic. My wifes compact camera has a charger that you slip the battery in and plug in a wall outlet, no cord

I bought this camera for my school trip to germany, and it was a wonderful camera to have. I got the best pictures of things far away with great detail. Sometime I get frustrated because some pictures can turn out almost like pixelated from poor lighting. Action shots can sometimes be like that, but I really love the 15 frames per second.

I never spent this much money on a camera so before I bought I researched, compared and read everythinbg I could find. I finally decided to buy and it was the best purchace I have made in years. This camera will do just about anything you want a camera to do. I have had great results taking photos by experimenting and following the manual. This is the first digital I've bought since I was still using film. All I can say is that I love, love it! The zoom is great and I love the sports mod when I go to hockey and baseball games. Can't wait to see the kind of photos I take with it in China. Thanks again for bringing digital in my life.
