I got this camera new in 2012 it's small fun one of the best investment ever made. Pictures come out clean, clear and I don't even know what I'm doing half the time. Reading the (-) remarks some write something's don't work for everybody. Excellent little camie!

This is an excellent camera, what it needs is people who know photography to appreciate it ! I took these two pictures on low light with the flash on minimum, and also lower the ev to its lowest and these are the results, so don't knock anything down is you don't have the knowledge.

I bought two of these on the same day at the same place and they both had lens problems and had to be sent away to be fixed. When you turn it on the lens pops out and retracts and a lens error comes up on the screen. One of them was never used and did this the first time it was turned on and the other one was repaired but it still occasionally gives that error. Not a good experience since I've used 35 mm cameras for 37 years and rarely had problems.

I have just had this camera for a few days, and it takes very good pictures and video. Everything functions as stated in the manual. It is very easy to use.

Within two months of me using this camera, the lens stopped working. I don't know if there is just something wrong with my specific camera or if this happens to a lot of coolpix owners, but the camera is way too fragile.

I'm a retired tractor trailer driver and I bought this camera as a take along in the truck instead of my "big one". I hate to say it, but this little camera rivals the photo quality of the other one. Well made and great quality in a small carry along package. Now that I'm retired I either carry it in my purse or pocket when I talk the dog, just in case a good photo op comes along. So glad I bought this camera.

I want to say upfront I'm not a camera expert and am not speaking to camera experts. I'm a person who wanted a camera for the basic, no nonsense features. I'm just speaking to the people out there who take casual pictures now and then. Typically I've had trouble in the past with cameras because sometimes my hands move and the pictures are out of focus or blurry. This has not been a problem for me at all and it's easy to take "not fuzzy" pictures. The flash works well and there isn't much of a delay between when you push the button and when it takes the picture. I used to hate the cameras where you had to hold the button down and almost count to three. It's very easy to navigate the menus and this is pretty durable. I've dropped it several times and haven't had any problems. Figuring out how to zoom, focus, and flash were all very easy, and they all seem to work well. I use my camera for casual pictures with friends or to put things on Ebay. I'm never really taking action shots, so I have no comments in regard to those types of things one way or the other. If you are one of those people who are incredibly picky and high maintenence when it comes to your devices just ignore this review. I'm not saying this is a bad choice, but I am saying I don't know if it will satisfy you or not. If you want a durable little camera that does the basics fairly simply and nicely, then this is would be a good choice. It also has a lot of extra bells and whistles. Also I've had mine over a year now and it is still in great shape. I got yellow, which is metallic yellow, and in person it's more like a chartruse or citron. I think it's cool because there aren't other camera colors like it, but if ecto-cooler green isn't your thing, I'd suggest a different color.

I got this camera to upgrade from our 5 year old digital. This camera has been nothing but frustrating and disappointing!! The pictures are always blurry no matter which setting we have it on. I am sorry I wasted my money on this piece of junk. The 5 year old camera works better!! I would not recommend this camera to anyone!

Its a fantastic camera that has loads of features including: +720p HD video +Many modes +SDXC support Here's the shutter lag fix: Go to "Set up" > Select "Display options" > And turn image preview to off. > (Optional) You can also turn the photo info off but this is optional.

I had this camera for about 1/2 year but it was a very good camera. It takes excellent pictures and HD (720 pixel) video. I recommend it.

This piece of overpriced junk will not take a picture of my cat. It takes it about 3 seconds to snap a shot and there is nothing but a blur. I bought this garbage because I wanted to capture memories, now my pet is flying to california and the camera won't so much as take ONE SINGLE PHOTO of my pet! NOT ONE. It specifically has a setting for pets, too! UNBELIEVABLE! I SMASHED IT IN FRUSTRATION!

Quality isn't very good. Macro mode never works. And you have to be rock-still or else the picture is blurry.

Overall this camera is really simple to use. I purchased this camera because it was smaller than my other camera and easy to handle. I liked that it was 14 megapixels. However, if I am not up close to the object I am taking a picture of the photo is either blurry, grainy, or dark. I have tried to change all of the settings and even reset all the settings, NOTHING seems to work. Also I find that when ever I zoom in on something I get the same results if not worse. This was my first Nikon and I am not impressed.

The new Nikon is amazing. It has all features a camera needs. I went to Niagara Falls with the camera and the footage it took was fabulous. Best Camera created by Nikon so far.

I bought this camera a day before my trip since i didn't have any digital camera and to be honest i was getting a good deal on it..! it takes good quality pictures indoor and outdoor for its price...... i would say overall it's good camera to have and easy to use, Pros; good design, easy to carry, light weight battery life is good, pictures quality is good, Cons; terrible close up focus, scene mode is just whatever movie mode button is little bit tricky... with all said, it's good camera for the price and it take excellent outdoor pictures specially on sunny day in parks, beach, city, etc.. i wouldn't recommend for people who sell stuff on internet since the close up is bad and it is hard to get a good shot,

I use this camera every week am on the road alot and always fine cool things to take pictures, Have taken just over 10,000 pictures and it still takes a darn good picture!! the only problem is the fact that you are supposed to change the battery internally but I could never remember how long it is supposed to be on the computer before it is supposed to fully charged, they sell after market batteries and changers that take care of that problem.

This camera was great right out of the box. I previously owned a Nikon CoolPix. After 10 years of happily using it, it became possessed and started turning itself on and off, repeatedly. I really wanted another CoolPix, since I thought that my old one was so good and had served me for so long. I shopped around and found the S3100. I jumped when I saw the price and features. It's so easy that you could use it without doing any reading to discover everything else special that it can do. I don't understand the few negative reviewers' comments. This camera can't take a bad picture. I used it for photos for a business proposal, and everyone was so impressed with the pictures even when printed with a color laser printer on plain bond paper. It's fun and easy to take great pictures. It's such a good buy for a fantastic price. It's one of the best buys I've made all year.

Bought this camera because of the real high iso rating and cannot get a sharp picture without the flash. Very dispointed!

The picture quality is nothing special, but I wanted a smaller camera. Within a month of having the camera (never been dropped or bumped) the lens error started happening. Nikon customer service will cost you the exact same price of the camera to fix it. I am extremely unhappy with this camera. I do own the D3100 and love it.

Anytime there is movement or if you don't use the flash, it is difficult to get good shots. Takes Lousy Sport shots

What a great little camera for the price. I arrived in Maui with a broken Kodak digital and popped into Costco. Look, this won't do what a full featured DSLR will do. But it fits in a shirt pocket. It's fast. High resolution. Intuitive controls and features. I've always owned and loved Nikon, and this little beauty does nothing to put me off the brand. I have a hard time with coming up with anything negative when I consider the price.

This camera performs.

I bought this camera because my friend had it and I reallly liked the pictures she had taken. It has performed extremely well in all situations: Shuttle launch video, riding video, bands, flowers, birds, rain, etc. I'm convinced of its construction quality because it flew out of my hand on a recent trike ride and ended up in the middle of the road. I lost the battery door and the battery but not the SD which was loaded with pictures. I bought a new battery, charged it up, downloaded my pictur...

Handy and easy to use

From day one, this camera has produced good pictures with ease. I purchased it in Daegu, Korea, and was able to register it online and download an English version user's guide. The simple "scene" feature, by which speed and aperture are represented by icons, make choosing settings fast and easy for a non-numbers brain like mine. Additional features such as panorama assist and pet and sports settings expand my ability to capture a good photo. Even the video is good. My partner, more experience...
