I love taking outdoor pics with this camera. It's great for the price and I love the size of it, i can just put it in purse and voila. The only down side to this camera is the fact that when you zoom in, it will blur. That's a bummer, but other than that this is a great camera. If you know what you have and know how to work with it, you should have no problem.

good thing about s4100, its touch screen, fast and can take high quality picture / movie.but sorry to say as time goes on i had this almost 2 years give or take, it shows its downside, it does not charge anymore, i did not use it often, never mis-use.like drop it or some otherway way to make it malfunction..it was a gift to me from my parents so i took great care for it..i googled and in the end landed back here nikon website and on my frequent shall i say "surfing" i noticed that its not just me that suffer the same fate about s4100 not charging, tried taking the memory off, it always blink a minute and nothing..also tried charging it with my computer, same result...sorry for the long explanation, my only advice is never leave this device uncharge for far too long,if it may in day, discharge (for a day or two, your call) it by leaving it on and turn its power saving feature "off" then charge it again..i repeat..please don't leave it for far too long uncharge..or suffer the same fate..

I had this camera since August last year, it was for my daughter, but she has barely used it. And maybe I should have tested it when I got it before I gave it to her... The camera failed after about 30-40 pictures! The lens comes out, an error message pops up to inform me that there is a "Lens error", and the lens goes back in. Unusable!

the camera was very cool having the touch screen. The only problem I had was the battery lasted me only a year! Now I cant get the pictures off of the camera! This is kind of a bummer!

I got this camera about a year and a half ago. I loved all of the features it had, being able to adjust the white balance, the amount of color in the photo, the plum color, and most of all, the touch screen!! But I should also say that not all of the pictures came out great . Roughly 80% came out nice the first time. There was also a pretty long lag in-between taking photos. Not to mention any time my mom (who has used digital cameras before) tried to use it, she could never get a good picture. I would have been happy using this camera, but while working on a project, my friend knocked it off of a tripod and my camera landed on its lens. After talking to workers at my local tech store, they told me that it would cost just as much, if not more to fix the lens. They then said that they had seen things like this happen before, and that they would never buy a Nikon. So even though this camera has some awesome features, it doesn't take very good pictures and is known to have a faulty lens.

It's an okay camera. It worked for 8 months but then it broke and I had to send it to the company for repair, and it works so far but it could have been better.

I wouldn't recommend buying this camera. If you HAVE to buy it, buy the LONGEST warranty option available! I bought this camera in June 2011. Worked great and took wonderful pictures. About 6-8 months later the camera would not turn on or charge. I brought the camera back into the store (still under warranty) and sent it off to be repaired. The circuit board was replaced and the camera worked as good as new. This was in March 2012. 6 months later (August 2012) the same thing occurred. Camera wouldn't turn on or charge. It was no longer under warranty so the price of a repair would get me a brand new camera! So now, after only 3 uses in just over a year, I am stuck with dead camera that would be pricey to repair. AVOID THIS CAMERA AT ALL COSTS! This camera has given Nikon a bad name. I will NEVER buy a Nikon again!

The CoolPix camera was great. I loved how I could store lots of pictures on the camera. It is light weight and I can take it anywhere. But one time I was at a campfire trying to take a picture of a musical performance, and I got it out real quick and accidentally pressed in the lens, and now I cannot take any more pictures. I also ran into a lady with the same camera who said she had a similar problem. I also felt like sometimes I would charge the battery fully, but the charge didn't last too long.

Camera broke down when lens was extending and was stopped by an object. There is no fail safe in this mechanism.

I currently have this camera. I really liked it at first but now all of the sudden my battery wont charge! I have tried everything. Now the only thing left to do is to buy a new battery that is going to cost me $ and hope that it doesn't give me the same trouble! I'm really upset about this because my family and I are going to Cancun next month and I need a camera that I can depend on. I, unfortunately didn't get the warranty with mine so I'll be paying for my repair!

When i first bought the camera i thought it worked really well. But eventually it just randomly stopped working. After several months it just started working again. I thought i was going to have to take it back to be fixed. But now after a year of having the nikon coolpix s4100 i have to say its great. I will not go any where without it.

I chose the Nikon Coolpix because I already own a Nikon D80 (which is an awesome camera). But this camera was a great disappointment. For some reason, the quality of the images are somewhat blurry. I thought may be that's how they were in the camera viewer. Turns out, the images are blurry even when imported. I tried a number of different settings and nothing worked. The colour and exposure balance was off too. I can't imagine how Nikon make such great professional cameras and not get a simple compact digital camera right.

Writing reviews is not my strong suit, but seeing the number of negative comments, I had to state my experience. I purchased this camera for my wife for her birthday and she loves it. All she wanted was something easy to use and small enough to carry anywhere. The Nikon Coolpix S4100 fits the bill. The camera has gone on a cruise and several trips with her. The operation of the camera is simple, picture are great, the touch screen flawless and absolutely zero trouble charging the battery. I know others with the S4100 are their reaction to the camera is the same.

Quality of pics was pretty good. Better auto-focus than some others. Wouldn't always take a charge right from the get go. Then got progressively worse. At first it would tell us it was charged but would run out after just a handful of photos. Then wouldn't charge at all. Then would. Then wouldn't. Now totally dead and is going back to Costco tomorrow.

I love this camera but sometimes I feel like it needs something more. Otherwise it's great. I love that you can frame and panit on a picture.

One of the worst product out there! Just a little after 3 months, camera stopped working and unusable.

No issues with this Nikon product until about 6 months into ownership. Suddenly not working at all and will be returning to Nikon for repair, under warranty. Not sure what the issue is as the moment, but will assume that either battery not taking a charge or something internally has frozen.

Fit in pocket nicely, then like 1000's of others lens got stuck. Warranty, worthless, they claim it must be sand, like 1000's other on the net, we just threw sand on our cameras. Great camera until lens stick, and don't think it will happen to you just search for stuck lens, coolpix, if you want to get even more depressed add the word warranty.

I picked up this camera before the holidays. I got 2 full charges out of the camera and now it will not charge. I should have done the research. If you are reading this, be warned!

The battery won't recharge while inside the camera. Maybe it will work if i buy an external charger, but that item wasn't supplied. I was told "it's a battery problem, get a new battery" so I did. The new battery was already charged (thank goodness), so i got two days of pictures before it died. Now i have two dead batteries and a non-functioning camera. Should I give more money to Nikon to buy an external battery charger? Don't want to, but probably will.

I bought this camera 3 weeks ago. I was going to charge it for my daughters 1st birthday party. The camera would not charge!!! Tried charging through wall outlet and computer, the camera did nothing. It would not power up or take a charge. I missed many precious photo moments from my daughters first birthday. I would not recommend this camera to anyone!!!

I got this camera a little bit after chirstmas and it works great but then it stopped charging, we got a new battery and it started working fine again, but then again last night it wouldnt charge so my father and i believe it has something to do with the cord not the battery or adapter, we even tried taking the memory card out which seemed to work for some other(we were looking at some threads) but it still didnt help. And some of my friends are having the same problem!

I just upgraded from another pocket sized camera and this Nikon Coolpix is so amazing! Love the touch screen, the upclose pics I've taken are completely in focus, the recovery time between pics is WAY FAST, the cool purple color is my favorite, and I can't wait to go shoot some HD video! Totally the gold standard of pocket-sized cameras!

I bought this camera to take to Ireland because I wanted a small camera rather than my big one. I was very impressed with this camera and the pictures it took for the money. Easy to use and compact enough to slip into a pocket.
Great camera for those on the go!
