Decent Camera While It Worked

This was a pretty good camera. Focus is pretty average for speed and clarity but sometimes takes a bit of effort to get the camera to focus on the subject. Still, I enjoyed shooting with this camera and got some really great shots during a road trip. It was portable, kept charge well, and had a decent response time. The display is of good quality and makes it easy to analyze your shots quickly. Then it died. The battery ran low, and I plugged it in to recharge. Instead, the light flashed rapidly indicating it was in data transfer mode rather than charging. I attempted to troubleshoot the issue but was unsuccessful. I plugged the camera's usb cable into the provided wall adapter, assuming this would resolve the issue. Instead, the camera proceeded to attempt data transfer with the electrical grid. After taking all possible troubleshooting steps, I switched to the spare (3rd party) battery that Best Buy had bundled with the camera as the OEM battery was entirely drained. I once again attempted to troubleshoot, including attempting to eject the device from Windows, disabling the USB port it was connected to (which the camera didn't seem to mind - it continued to flash the data light rapidly), and briefly tried another USB cable I had on hand. Unfortunately, do to various circumstances, I did not have a chance to address this issue during the warranty period - and there's no way I'm paying more for a camera that worked for such a short time.

Handy and takes great pictures!

Tried this camera out before giving to my Dad. Love the features, it has just the right combination of attributes. I just didn't realize it was quite so small. Great if you want to keep it in your pocket.

I have had this camera for less than a year and now it wont even turn on. I had the battery tested and they confirmed the battery was fine, its the camera. I kept this camera in a case, it was never dropped and never got wet. I have no idea why it wont rurn on anymore. Not happy!!

not too good!

I was so excited to get my new camera! Upon using the camera, I learned that the camera was extremely slow to progress to the next photo. There is a lot of lag time between each picture. Focus time is extremely long, if it focuses! My lens cover quit opening completely within the first six months, and now my lens is scratched! I have only had this camera for 1 year! I really had hoped for my first compact Nikon to be of better quality! So disappointed!

Mediocre

I bought this camera to replace a dead Kodak pocket model that I used to carry with me at all times. The price was good, it was on sale, and I ilked the 16.2 MP. Under the right circumstances it does perform well, unfortunately the pictures are inconsistent with most of them leaning towards the bad.

if you get it on sale = great value

we previously owned two canons and were set on getting a third but the $ sale price was too low to pass up. it has a lot of options that aren't terribly hard to find in the camera's OS once you get used to it. the pics are great looking, it doesn't weigh much, and the battery life is good. we bought a red one (only color in stock) and almost a year later none of the red has rubbed off. pretty well made little camera!

Excellent Investment

My first Nikon camera and I absolutely love it! It is well worth the investment for those priceless photos. I have had it for several months now and am highly impressed with the quality of the pictures and ease of use. I received excellent feedback when I sent my first set of pictures via email such as what kind of camera do I have and highly impressed with the beauty of the pictures. I took photographs of new plants and every detail was caputred of its unique beauty as if the viewers were seeing it person. I'm still learning more features about this camera and the more I learn the higher my impression. I highly recommend this camera.

A Lot Of Camera In A Small Package

The blue Coolpix.S6200 that I purchased for my birthday has been a real pleasure. I am used to a Nikon SLR film camera with a long telephoto-macro lense, but this little camera has really surprised me with its sensitivity and versatility. I use it for natural light and close-up shots and in a croud, I can elevate it to take almost any kind of subjects. Thank you, NIKON

Not what I expected

I have a Nikon P90 and love it, so I thought I would try their point and shoot for my everyday use. Then ease of use was good, but the pictures were very grainy and seemed to be cloudy. Pictures taken inside had a reddish tint and with the flash, washed out.

Fairly Good Camera but the Software is Lousy

2:05 PM 8/6/2012 The Nikon Coolpix S6200 camera is fairly good, however the focus ability is below average, especially for macro or anything closer than 1 meter. I installed the ViewNX 2 however I wasn't able to import (upload# any of my photos or videos as the entire window was grey and the start transfer button didn't work either. When I uninstalled it to fix this, a message came up saying that it couldn't find the server. Love my new camera.

I love this camera. It takes great pictures and the zoom works really well. I can snap, snap pictures. My old Kodak seemed to take forever before I could take the next picture. By the time it was ready the subject would have moved and I had to wait for another opportunity to get my shot.

Good little point and shot camera

I have lost two similar cameras on vacation, one at the Nuremberg train station and the second at the Vatican. My third one demonstrates how they have improved and simplified the cameras. Have a SLR as my primary camera but this adds a lot of convenience and capability in a small package. The only feature I don't like is the rotary motion of the multi function selector. This cumbersome and prone to accidents. Love the 10X zoom (main reason I bought the camera) Overall it is a great product.

Love this camera!!!!

I am still trying to figure everything out on this camera, but so far I love it. The picture is awesome....so much clearer than my old kodak. The zoom is great and the amount of different screen selections is really nice. I really like having the option to take black and white pictures. The battery life is amazing. I will save soooooo much money not buying AA batteries all the time. I have used this camera about 5 different times now and it still shows full battery life. The only thing I don't like is it is a little slow. It takes a little longer to take a picture and the wait time after taking a picture to take another picture is longer than I would like. This is the first nikon camera I have owned and I am sold!!! This will certainly be my brand from now on!!!

Lots of Feature packed fun for a point and shoot

I purchased my S6300 Nikon CoolPIX because I wanted pictures that give the WOW! factor. I use to have a HP M537 digital camera and it was okay for someone who is just starting out. But a friend of mine who has been doing photos for years, said I should try a Nikon or just look at the photos it produces. So I Checked out his photos (mostly outdoor shots on a S9300 CoolPIX Nikom), my engineering friend who has a Nikon but I do not know the model and he shoots a lot of sports stuff(aka packer training camp) and the daughter of my accountant who shoots a lot of family pictures. I was sold. The Nikon S6300 CoolPIX has everything you need to take Pro quality photos (check out the spec's on this one!!)and not spend a lot of money. Please give it a try and you will see the WOW factor.

nice camera!

Got this camera for my son for a trip to Washington DC. He has never really done much with a camera before but gave him a brief run thru of the features and sent him off. He came back with fantastic pictures! Out of more than 700, only 2 came back blurry. He was sightseeing sun up to sun down and he never had battery issues.Don't know of anything negative to say about this camera.

Great With a Few Issues

I got this camera for Christmas 2011. I honestly LOVED it!!! The zoom was great, and the pictures were great quality. However, in early May 2012, it started having "Lens Errors". I had yet to drop it or misuse it, and always kept it in its protective case. I had no idea what was going on! I went on a school trip to Washington D.C and couldn't use it because whenever I'd turn it on, the lens wouldn't come out and it would say "Lens Error". Or, I'd try to zoom in/out/ or turn it off and the lens wouldn't move. So, I called the Nikon customer service number and they said that I could send it in for repairs. Luckily, it is still under warranty so I won't have to pay for it! Customer service was great, and even though I had to pay to ship the camera to Nikon, if it gets repaired, it'll be worth it. I haven't heard from them yet, but it will hopefully be able to be repaired. Besides that, it's an overall great camera! I recommend it, just be careful with it. :)

Disappointing product from Nikon

I bought Nikon Coolpix S6200 from Best Buy. The picture quality is good, but within a couple of months the zoom control went bad and now the Zoom in doesn't stop till it goes all the way. It's been very hard to frame the pictures. Also, the button to click pictures is not easy to use and most of the times I miss the moments I want to capture. I bought this camera based on my previous experience with Nikon and have been very disappointed.

Great little camera

I took this camera along with my Canon EOS Elan to a local car show this last weekend. I soon found out that the Nikon was getting the most use even though I am more of a film camera guy. Its ease of use and small size for pockets makes it my favorite camera now. Its pretty much dummy proof and the functions work great. Downloading is a snap and I don't have to use my Adobe Elements to color correct. Perfect little camera.

Overall Nice Features

In general the carmera has good features but I find the white balance is off when using "Auto" mode. Although there is the ability to create a custom white balance, I find that to be an inadequate solution.

I lost my S220 at the zoo and replaced it with the S6000, which personally, I didn't feel was a good fit for what I wanted. Then I saw the S6200 and it was love at first sight...for me.
