This is a handy compact camera that is easily pocketable for quick pics. I recently used it on vacation in the Bar Harbor Maine area. For the best pictures, I use my Nikon D5100, such as on the Lighthouse boat tour or other tours. When I'm just walking around town, I leave the D5100 behind. I use my iPhone 4S for casual pics that I want to post or email, and I use my Nikon S6300 when I want a little better picture or when lighting conditions require a little more horsepower. It performed perfectly in that scenario. This is a good camera to carry with you all the time.

The Nikon Coolpix S6300 Digital Camera (Black) boasts a 16 effective MP CMOS sensor and Nikon EXPEED C2 image processing engine for superior image quality, even in low light situations. It's also equipped with a wide angle 10x optical zoom NIKKOR glass lens with a 4.5 - 45mm (25 - 250mm 35mm equivalent) focal length to bring your subjects up close and personal. A bright 2.7" LCD monitor featuring an anti-reflective coating helps you with framing and playback. Small enough to tuck away in your pocket or purse and quick enough to be ready in an instant, the S6300 is a trusty companion indeed. Record full 1080p HD video with stereo sound--at the touch of a button!
The optical Vibration Reduction system ensures your images are sharp and clear by reducing the effects of camera shake / motion blur. Use Easy Panorama mode to combine multiple images into seamless 180Deg. or 360Deg. panoramic shots. Feeling creative? You can apply in-camera Special effects, including Low Key, High Key, Sepia and Selective Color to add that artsy touch to your images or video. Also, when you're in playback mode viewing still photos, you can employ a creative Filter Effect such as Fisheye or Miniature. Easy to use and packed with lots of fun features, the S6300 is a great choice for beginners, but can also satisfy more experienced photographers.
