Nice camera while it lasted! Then it wouldn't stay on ... purchased new batteries & still wouldn't work.

When Hiking or Trail Running you don't want to carry more than you need. I love this little digital camera. It fits in my pocket but still takes excellent photos. in fact one of my images taken with this camera just won 3rd place in the Heard Nature Museum Photo Contest. I have posted that photo below (the first photo in the row). I purchased my camera as a refurb camera from the Nikon store after losing my other pocket Nikon Coolpix Camera on the trail. its a perfect back up camera and a perfect camera for times when you want something small that will still take great shots. Currently the zoom does stick....I will be sending it in to the service center for repairs as soon as I can bear to part with it. for a week or two...

Bougth this camera on September, fogot it for a trip on november but finally took it with me for December Christmass vacations trip. Worked good one day, the second day when turned on, it automatically turns off with a "objective error" message on the screen. I does not focus, image is blurred. Liked very much size and resolution. Disappointed. Luckely I also took another Nikon L120 that saved the vacations. Read the posted reviews and found baterry issues, really can't comment on that because could not use it. I will have to test the warranty Nikon service. I will tell later. I will recommend it but contigent on service.

Since day one I found this camera so slow, missing many shots because of the time taken to warm up and its readiness between pictures. When first turned on some of the pictures taken were 'hazy' as the focus wasn't working right away. I thought maybe if I turned the photo display to 'off' it might help speed things up - but this option is no longer available. I had my cousin look at it as he's a real fan of Nikon and he couldn't believe how slow it was. I did review the camera on-line before I bought it, but being a newer model there weren't many reviews and I foolishly purchased it. I would never buy another Nikon camera because of this experience, next time I'll be going back to Canon.

I bought this camera on August 26, 2012. Worked great and love the pictures. Until two days ago (08/10/13) I go to turn the camera on. The lens comes out and screen turns on as normal. Then shuts down with the lens stuck out. I figured the battery was dead, got another battery and still nothing. Charge both batteries with a Nikon battery charger over night. The next day.... Nothing. The camera is a brick, will not turn on or even respond to both batteries and USB. It's bricked. I just sent it in today for repair as it's still under warranty.... we will see how Nikon handles this.

I have now had to send in my camera twice and I just got it for Christmas this past year. It is now nearing the end of July and the camera was just sent in for repair in late April, returned to me in early May. At first the settings wheel would not stay in its proper position so I was unable to take pictures. I sent the camera in and that problem was fixed and the camera worked fine for a little over two months. Now, the LCD freezes and I am yet again unable to take pictures. For a camera that retailed ($), I have to say, I expected a LOT more! I am so angry that I have not been able to use my camera for special events; it pretty much defeats the purpose of having a camera when it doesn't function properly. I wish that I could just return it and go buy another brand. I have done some research and found out that this particular model, the S9300, was discontinued - hopefully I won't just be sent back the same useless model for the second time and I will receive a functional model as a replacement. I am thoroughly disappointed in the quality of this camera.

Excellent camera for traveling, unfortunately the zoom lens got stack and it will not open to operate the camera. I removed the battery to see if the camera will reset by itself, but nothing happens. I will send the camera to Nikon West Coast Service Dpt. for repairs. I have all documents from this purchase but I have lost the bill of sale from Best Buy. The camera is no good to me if it doesn't work and I like this camera a lot.

I love my Nikon Coolpix s9300; it does very well for the price and size. I use it as often as I can and am very happy with my purchase.

I really love this camera. I was tired of carrying my big DSLR camera around so I thought this would be a good camera to get. I love the video and the zoom. I've taken a lot of cool pictures with this camera and have made a lot of cool movies too. I also love the actual feel of this camera, it has this sort of rubber feel to it that makes it feel like you are not going to drop it. Overall, this is amazing.

I love the features that come with this camera. Great pictures, 18 times zoom is nice for making close things closer and playing with perspective. The HD video is excellent quality but this is where the trouble begins. I don't know if the video mode uses a lot of power but it is during videos that the "battery low" and then soon the "battery exhausted" problem occurs. That's the first problem. Problem 2. When ever this camera is used where it is cool such as below 60 F, the "Battery Low" and then soon the "Battery exhausted" problem occurs. Problem 3. The GPS is a great feature if it worked consistently. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I've hiked for over five hours with the GPS enabled and logging on and not one data point is logged. Other times it works fine. Sometimes It locks onto the satelites in under ten seconds and the picture is tagged. Other times I can stand for 15 minutes and it never locks onto any satelites - and this is out in the open! Problem 4. Sometime for no reason it just locks up with the lens extended. None of the buttons are active and the display is frozen. Only removing the battery for a few seconds brings it back. Problem 5. The battery/memory card compartment door has a nasty habit of opening. A good thing the battery and memory card are held in place by other means other than the door. Problem 6. While most of the pictures are well focused, this camera does not focus in low light sunset/sunrise conditions. I've lost more great sunset opportunities because this camer always yields a fuzzy picture. In conclusion, great idea but the quality isn't the same as it was with other Nikons I've owned.

I was most disappointed. After falling in love with the features of this camera, I found an awesome price, and bought it with much anticipation. I got it home, took 12 pictures, turned it off, to find the flash would not retract. I read other reviews of hardware failures, and decided to return it. I wish I could say I loved this camera...but sadly never got the chance to find out.

This is an excellent little camera. The zoom feature will get you so close you will need a rest to shoot the picture. Pictures are very good and clear. The few bad shots were operator error. The only drawback is when the battery indicator say's low battery it means NOW. I could not figure out the GPS feature

I was moving overseas and wanted a replacement for my Nikon 80082 (lenses and SB Flash), something more compact and not have to worry about developing 35mm film. I finish the day and upload photos to my laptop and can show them to my family and friends right away. I purchased the S9300 and LOVE IT! The pictures come out beautiful, the face recognition is Cool, and I am learning a new type of photography and enjoying myself while doing it. I still am learning the features of the S9300, but it is a please to use, yet I can sometimes figure out what I want to do without referring to the User Manual. I highly recommend this camera. I also purchased the waterproof AW100 camera for when I go to the beach or a water or humid environment. The photos are just as good and I do not have to worry about the S9300 getting "water logged." I have a camera for all uses. I highly recommend this camera also. Maybe I am "spoiled" but I am a life long Nikon product user.

We purchased this camera for a 2 month trip to Europe and experienced very poor quality of photos both inside and outside. The camera would not hold a focus on any setting and we had a large number of blurred photos. The zoom seem to make the focus issues worse. In addition, the camera ran out of battery power in about a 4 hour period. We were taking a large number of pictures as we toured Italy and we were so disappointed in the performance of this camera. We contacted Product Support and they looked at some of the pictures and the advice they gave us did not improve the performance of this camera.

I bought this because my son has one. I used it and liked his so I bought one . The only downside is the flash location but I knew that when I bought it and will get used to it. As usual it is Nikon quality. I have used rifle scopes made by them and they have far superior optics

I use this camera mostly to take pictures and video of my puppy. The small size makes it easy to keep it close at hand. I've foud that it takes good indoor videos with just a couple table lamps on when using the Night Landscape mode. Without the extra lights the pup doesn't even know im shooting.

This camera was just what I was looking for. I have a 2 year old and was getting ready to welcome our second child into the world. I was looking for a camera that could capture my kids in their element and their only setting is go go go. I needed a camera that took the picture quickly and stopped motion. This camera did just that an so much more. I couldn't be happier.

Nice Pictures, great resolution, but it still not as fast as i tought. It takes a while to focus, and clear the image, you can't really take a picture on the road, you have to stop, focus, and then snap, from the shot button it stil takes a few second to take pics and bring flash out. Overall its good camera but you cant move otherwise the picture might be blury and you will have to retake. Everytime you purchase a camera you just have to ask yourself what you wanted it to do.

I just received this Nikon coolpix s9300 camera for Christmas. I am an avid Photographer and my boyfriend thought this camera would be the best. I went to the beach to take sunsrise pictures. It was very windy and sand was blowing, some how one tiny piece of sand got into the camera and I dont understand how it got in there and why it wont just shake out. Needless to say i got one use out of this camera and now it is ruined. Ruined christmas present Im soo dissappointed in this product I cant understand how one grain of sand really is smack on the lense ruining any picture now.

I got this camera for my trip to Italy and while the photo quality is wonderful! I had problems with charging this camera while there was difficult and I figured it wasn't charging due to my bulky adapter, however once I returned my camera still didn't charge correctly. Now my camera hasn't held a charge for 3 days on the charger. I don't know if anyone else has had problems with this. I am disappointed since my photos were lovely.

I guess the camera is ok. but for some reason the factory battery blow out before it was 6 mos. old. No clue why and of course batteries are not covered under warranty. I bought a eyfi media card that will download any pics and movies you take wirelessly from anywhere there is wifi. Cool.

I got this camera because it was lightweight and I could take it anywhere. The image quality is fantastic. I am a 20-year Photoshop pro, so for me to say this about any camera is quite the compliment. The only thing it does not have is a flash seat so you cannot add an external flash, but if you are putting it in your pocket anyway, it doesn't matter much. The wide angle is perfect for taking pics of buildings and landscapes.

I had an instant problem with the location of the pop up flash. It is located where I hold the camera for steadiness so my fingers are in the way when it tries to pop up automatically. This creates issues with blurry pictures and (potentially) losing a shot.

Have owned the camera two weeks. Thought it was good, was taking great pictures, then it died. I had just downloaded pictures onto my pc and when I unplugged it I got the message "battery temperature too high." Then I followed the manual's suggestions of leaving it off to cool. Over an hour later it still won't turn on properly. Will have to have Best Buy replace the piece of junk since I bought the replacement warranty.

The only thing I don't like with this camera is if you are taking photos "on stage" like a live show it takes blurry pictures if there any moving going on, other then that I love it.

Best Nikon Camera Yet!
By afsilverman
I am a huge Nikon person. I have had SLR to point and shoot cameras and love them all. I just got this new Coolpix S9300 and its the best camera from Nikon yet. Its compact and easy to use right out of the box. Camera features are fantastic and the panoramic view and 3d is great. Low lighting and zoom are a plus. I take this camera everywhere fits in my pocket. Bravo Nikon.
The Nikon Coolpix S9300 Digital Camera (Black) is born to travel--with you. A 16MP CMOS sensor and a sharp 18x Nikkor 25-450mm (equivalent in 35mm format) in a tiny (2.5x4.3x1.3"/6.2x10.8x3.06cm) and featherweight (7.6 oz/214g) body = the ultimate compact travel camera.
The CMOS sensor gives you greatly improved low-light performance and reduced noise and the 25-450mm lens can easily handle any situation you encounter, from ultra wide-angle landscape to portraits to unapproachable wildlife. Optical VR image stabilization keeps your photos rock solid, without any shaking or blurring, even using the longest telephoto settings, or in low-light, slow shutter speed situations. The high-resolution 921K-dot 3" monitor is crisp and clear, for composing and reviewing your images. Dazzling full 1080p HD video with stereo sound will bring your memories back in pristine condition (you can even take a still photo while shooting video). And the S9300 knows how to turn even dicey lighting situations into great images, with modes like Night Landscape, Night Portrait and Backlighting HDR. A built-in neutral density filter gives you even greater latitude in daylight shooting.
Built-in GPS records your shooting locations and tracks the route you take. A map displays your current location while shooting, plus Points of Interest (POI) locations--an electronic compass displays the camera's orientation when the photo was taken and records the location for viewing later on your computer.
17 Scene modes provide optimal settings for common photographic subjects. In-camera processing offers you lots of creative choices without using image-processing software: filter effects like Nostalgic Sepia; High-Contrast Monochrome; Selective Color; High Key; Low Key; and Soft Effect; the ability to crop and re-size photos in-camera; D-Lighting for improving high-contrast scenes; and skin softening for improved portraits. The EXPEED C2 processor delivers improved image quality and processing speed. So, wherever you go with the S9300, there you are--ready to bring back great images, no matter what the conditions.
