Got this camera before going on a 2 year trip expecting it would be an excellent investment that would last me these next 2 years and thousands of photos. However less than a year in and this camera has terrible power issues. Sent it in twice to get repaired before it finally seemed to have the issue resolved and I discovered others have had similar issues with the type of battery used for this model and other models. The pictures are great quality but not my wildest dreams or anything. The protective case it came with also was a disappointment as I took my camera out and found the screen cracked. I would definitely look elsewhere to see what other options are available if this is in your price range. Something more dependable and higher quality is probably available. Still love Nikon cameras though.

I spent hours researching and obsessing about a quality pocket camera on the internet. The Nikon S9500 had the best features, best reviews, best of everything including price. I have taken so many awesome photos with this handy camera. 22X zoom is awesome.

My COOLPIX S9500 has been doing a fine job recording my travels around the world. It's small sizes makes it easy to cary anywhere.

I've had this camera for a little over 90 days and was purchased at Costco. It takes very nice pictures with a clean slick look but after a few uses the shutter in the lens got stuck. And now when I turn the camera on the shutter does not completely open leaving the photos only taking half the shot the other half is black by the shutter. I'm currently under warranty but sending your camera back for repairs is a lot more troublesome then I expected. Haven't completed the process so I will update review as soon as I receive my hopefully fully repaired camera back.

I bought this camera for a trip to Tanzania and the Serengeti without knowing anything about it. I was thrilled with the pictures I captured, often from a moving vehicle. The videos were also wonderful. I will treasure these pictures for a lifetime. The camera is light, compact, and sooooooo easy to use, even for a novice. The pictures are clear and when enlarged are so clear that eyelashes can be seen on the giraffe and the fur and spots on a cheeta come into view. Did I say I was Happy?

I wanted a camera that was easy to take on a trip and carry with me at all times, but that could take clear pictures including from a distance. I took this camera to Africa where I took a number of photos at a conference I attended and on safari. It is easy to use (for basic features at least), takes great photos, and has the best zoom lens for a camera this small. My only complaints are that it is a little bit slow if you want to take multiple photos in a short time, and the panoramic photo feature isn't very accessible.

The camera was already set up with someone else's pictures and settings loaded. May have been used already. Waited two months to receive as it was backordered that long. The description should be more explicit that you have to buy an additional card to wifi load pictures to a standard computer. The installed Wi-Fi only works for ipads and smart phones. Had to purchase a eye-fi card to load pictures to my computer. Other than that it takes a really good picture. I wouldn't recommend it due to the inability to receive when you want it.

I have not had serious use of the camera yet as I bought it to go on my trip in just a few days. I like the optical zoom on it. Its lightweight, eay to use, but I did not like the pop up flash as that is the same area, I put my finer on to help hold and stabilize the camera. I like the camera overall, great for light versus by DSLR. I liked the wifi and GPS feature along with the IOS app for seeing or downloading photos on to the phone or iPad.

This camera does not come with a dock. If left unplugged, the battery drains in a couple of days. The manual says not to leave fully charged battery plugged in. I do not handle my camera everyday. It is very annoying to pick it up and it be inoperable because of discharged battery. Features are nice.

Lot of features. If you can't afford to take along your full size SLR due to space or weight this camera will get the job done. Many features found only on bigger cameras. Great telephoto zoom lens. The zoom range is 22X optically which is much better than other cameras that pretend to have a zoom but it is nothing more than digital cropping. With a camera this small you don't have to take bad pictures with your cell phone. No reason to leave this one home. The bad on this is that the flash is pretty weak and pops up where you would naturally hold the camera...but it is still a better flash than what you have with a cell phone camera.

I have used Nikon for years like the S2 & D70 with great success. I purchased the S9500 and it is the best small camera I have seen to date. Even though I adjusted the color to be a little more vivid the pictures are outstanding. The scene dial on top makes changes easy and the Wifi is out of this world. To download to my smartphone with no cables is great. I love that you can put the camera anywhere and control it remotely by your smartphone. The 22x zoom lens is excellent. The GPS is a bonus. When you pickup the S9500 you can feel the quality with a metal body. Most small cameras are cheap plastic .The best of all is when I shut off the flash and shot in the evening when the light is low, the pictures are still great. Nikon keep it up, to me you are still truly the best.

For the price that I paid it should take photos with no exposure problems. I get about 10%of my indoor photos washed out with the flash and I had a system crash (not turning off, not turning on, etc.) I sent it in for repair... they said several parts were replaced and I STILL have the same exposure problem (it seems even worse now). The camera did this with auto and fill flash. I also use an 'approved' SD card. I would NOT recommend this at all. I do semi-pro photography and have been happy with my D300s and D800e, but this is not worth half of the money that I paid for it.

So fare everything is working well. The main reason for this camers is for the GPS which is working well which connectstyo ipad and map on Lightroom. I cary this when my D7000 with GPS is too bulky to carry.

I'm 66, and have been "Nikon" for just over 50 years. My prime camera is a D5100 (shortly to be a D5300 - would buy the D800 but it's too heavy and I don't need 40 x 60 blowups or make pro movies! The S9500 is an amazing camera. If you take the time (highly recommended) to really read through the complete manual (on the DVD not the "short" user guide) and practice going through the menus, you have a semi-pro camera that will produce very high quality pictures that you can blow up to 11x14 or even 16x20 (if you got lighting, focus, and exposure spot on). My only issue is a ton of noise on video in low light conditions. You can adjust for exposure and color balance in post, but it can't touch video that has been taken with a larger sensor. Check out and compare the specs to this and most other Coolpix cameras (at any price). You will see that this is virtually the top of the line.

I really liked the features that the 9500 offered - I replaced my 9100 with this camera to get a longer lens, better resolutioin, and the GPS / Wifi features are excellent. I had this camera for only 1 month - we took it hiking into Yosemite National Park. The camera took wonderful pictures, until it bumped into a railing and refused to work. The camera was sent back to Nikon who determined that it was owner damaged, and therefore not elegible for warentee service. It would cost ($) for them to fix it, and ($) for a brand new camera. This is the 4th Coolpix I've owned, and have been happy with all except this one - it's too fragile for use! If one need to keep the camera cloistered, what's the point?? I'll be going back to the 9100 which seems to have been made more durable.

I had few of those Nikon cameras in the past (previous models) and comparing to other cameras on the market - this one takes the best pictures ever! I had to exchange this camera, though, it was freezing every 10-20 pictures and the only way to make it work again was to take the battery out and put it back in. Unfortunately. Hopefully this one will work just fine. I love it! Best compact size camera! And great video quality - just like professional video camera: 1080p, full HD movie. Build GPS, WiFi ans 22 x optical zoom makes it more than just a camera :-D

Camera seems easy to use, good zoom capability, megapixels and speed of turning on and shooting photos. Only inconvenience is the pop up flash. Generally I hold the camera with two hands and the left hand fingers rest on top of the flash pop up. Need to be aware of this in taking indoor photos.
