I love this camera so much I'm buying another one after my last one had an unfortunate and untimely death - my fault. As a vlogger it does everything I need. The screen flips and lets me take shots/video from many angles, fantastic zoom to get wildlife from far away, fast focus for sport action shots, easy menus, and transfer to iPhone is simple technology that works. Light weight for backpacking, pocket sized, stabilization for the zoom is fantastic without a tripod. Keeping my fingers crossed it will be back in inventory soon. I can't find another camera I like better that fits my vlogging needs.

I was excited to purchase a new camera. I had had my first grandchild born and wanted to be ready when around. I am so disappointed with the camera that I'm actually looking into getting another camera and taking this one to a pawn shop. I have missed so many precious moments with my grandchild. Lighting indoors was always an issue, I have tried so many things to change it but when you have a little one you can't go back and get those moments again and you run out of time with their patience. My phone take better pictures than the camera. I would not recommend this camera unless you're not in a hurry to get good pictures. I will return to my favorite brand

This camera does not shoot well on the indoor shooting mode. Pictures are blurry and looked smeared.

This camera will never get pictures as a DSLR, like any other "compact" camera, due simply to the size of the sensor (1/2.3 in), but within its range, its pictures are good enough. The simplicity of its use, and those nice extras like its control from a smartphone, the gps (simple but useful), swiveling the LCD, its 30x optical zoom, the compact body and metal frame makes it a great camera.

I bought this Nikon S9900 for my wife. Picture quality is good, Handling is superb and we love it. Good built quality from exterior. I bought this camera for my Wife's and after 6 months, i had issue of auto focus, Auto ISO. Nikon did a replacement of PCB motherboard. Still Auto ISO option does not work even after replacement of PCB. What a pity. AUTO ISO function is very useful for normal user as camera automatically boost ISO in low light and set back to ISO 125 when lighting is adequate. This function does not work, result will be darker pictures with no details. But if you can adjust the ISO according to each situation, then it is OK. I can set ISO manually as i am using an Nikon D7100 SLR, but my wife can not. So i give a 2 STAR only. I think this is a Software issue from Nikon and i honestly want Nikon to owe responsibility and give a software Fix. If Nikon Team need a video to see for them-self, then email me to my registered email. Thanks. Rony

I bought this camera last December - not my first Coolpix. I bought it way ahead of the vacation I was planning in July. Took it out for a couple of try-outs and liked the way it handled and the pictures I was able to take with it. So now comes the vacation. First day out the lens jams and I am unable to retract. All I hear is click, click, click. Take it in for servicing and Nikon wants to charge me $190.00 to fix. Still playing around with them and my warranty

Wow! What a great little camera! It is about the size of an over-weight smart phone; not at all uncomfortable. Fully automatic or 'SLR' type manual operation if needed. Looking forward to getting to know it better and taking what I've learned to the 'SLR' arena!

I have owned my S9900 for 9 months and have never been especially thrilled with the photos, especially action photos. But now, it is completely useless. When I turn the camera on, the lens extends the whole way, and it makes a very loud clicking sound. It will not take a picture and the only way to get the noise to stop is to take the battery out and then the lens stays extended. A few things I did not like about this camera: I often hit the Wifi button, and then when the shutter didn't work, I had to hit "OK", to get out of Wifi mode. Also the pop up flash seems flimsy and did not pop up automatically when needed. But it did hold up OK.

I have a Nikon P7700, which is a high end compact. I bought this S9900 primarily for its wi-fi feature. I have found that this S9900 offers much less control and less image quality than my P7700. The super zoom is nice, but you still have to pay attention to camera shake at long focal lengths. The VR doesn't cure all ills. My standard for rating a product is deciding the answer to the question...if I lost this camera, would I buy another as a replacement. My answer is definitely not.

Zoom as far as camera will go and it gives you 60x. I carry on daily walks in Ouachita National Forrest (along with an s3700 and my new p900). Better rating 4.5 stars, doesn't return good color but can be overcome by a little editing.

I love Nikon DSLR cameras and their lenses. The Nikon COOLPIX S9900 travel zoom produced terrible quality photos even using manual settings. I was very disappointed in this camera and I returned it after being completely certain that I had done everything I could to get better photos from this camera. I even had a pro take about 30 photos and a couple videos and the camera produced equally poor results. I have used other P&S cameras and I know the quality of photo is less than that of a DSLR. I also know the longer the zoom the more light is required and the greater chance for blurred images. That said, this camera is not worthy of the name Nikon. I'm sorry. I really tried to like this camera. As I mentioned, I returned the camera.

My only gripe is that the photo settings are 'nt available during playback of individual frames (...i.e. f-stop & shutter-speed settings selected by camera or otherwise#. ---As well, I still can't seem to find the settings for the dynamic zoom #as opposed to simple optical zoom# on any camera menus anywhere #either w/ lens deployed or simple 'playback'#, to my disappointment. - The regular zoom only reaches the 'T' area, but doesn't transcend it. Plus: Playback takes a full 2 seconds to 'kick-in'. - Lastly, an 'off-centre' fisheye-effect #rather than the existing dead-centre fisheye-effect option# would 've been nice; + perhaps some 'saturation'-control alongside 'contrast'-control. Notwithstanding the above, it's a great package.

Use for travel photos, keeps GPS locations of photos so you can see on maps on computer. nice wireless features, fantastic photos from such a small camera, zoom is great! I use it on travel when the Nikon D700 is just too big to carry around.

Love the GPS, Wireless features, rapid fire multi shots for sports, scenery for travel, People shots, great zoom! And fantastic photos, much like a $3000 camera! all in a small almost pocket camera! Seems like good value for the money!

I have been a Nikon fan for quite some time now. This is my second coolpix, so I am familiar with many of the functions. Some positive things to mention is the shutter speed, the wifi ability, and of course the clarity of the photos. Now a bit of a gripe (sigh) I was a bit disappointed in some small things. Such as; the camera did not come with a start up memory card. On my last purchase they were kind enough to give me 2gb. I know I need more for this camera but would have been a nice thing to do for the customer just to get started. Another gripe; NO CASE??? I would have appreciated a coupon or something. Hey even a deal on a bundle.
