Great little camera, I use it for outdoor sports, including kayaking and rafting. This is the second I've had and it works great. I sometimes get a bit confused with the menus and finding just what I need, but that's about the only down side. It is a compact camera, so it isn't going to take award winning photographs, but they're still good enough for what I need.

Great photos for a point & shoot. Impressive video quality. Just the device for photography in all weather. Much better battery life than the previous edition. Had to replace my damaged unit that took one too many bounces and the door would not close tightly. It still worked. But need something waterproof for documenting aquatic life. Compact and handy for all sorts of action. I keep an extra float attached when I use it snorkeling. It does not float.

This camera was a given as a Xmas gift. Years ago I gave 3 family members a prior model of this camera. The cameras all performed well in camping, hunting, and hiking conditions. They have been bounced around in vehicles, carried in cold and wet conditions, and are rugged. The receiver of this camera asked for the original to be replaced as they really like it. While the original still works, they indicated that over thousands of pictures taken, the sharpness is not as good as it was 9 years ago, so they would like it replaced

I purchased the Coolpix to be able to take it places that I would not take my DSLR. Primarily, I wanted to take it snorkeling. It lived up to its potential. I got some great turtle and fish shots.

I bought this camera for taking underwater photos of manatees. It has a setting where underwater flash can be turned off. This feature is very important when swimming with manatees as a flash would disturb them. The underwater photos were very good.

I received this camera for Christmas and have used it at a few events. Thus far I am very happy with it. I had the older version and this one is living up the standards I expected. I have not been able to utilize new features yet, but I can do all I expect at this time. The photos are crisp and clear with beautiful coloring. Another fabulous product from Nikon.

This camera is the perfect do it all Digital Camera! I used it while in Cancun diving and seeing the ruins. It does it ALL! Very well. I am going to finally put my Nikonos Underwater equipment on Ebay. I don't want to deal with it anymore!

I love this camera. Takes great pictures. Easy to use. I was going to buy a go pro, but this camera takes much better still pictures and video is easy . I kayak fish and I am not worried about getting the camera wet or fish slimy. I am taking it on a fishing camping trip this week so I will be putting the camera Through it’s paces.. I have taken pictures on the beach and at birthday parties and all the pictures have been great. I looked at all the cameras in its class and this had the best overall rating. I am a very satisfied camper and fisherman:

I purchased an AW 100 in 2014 for a trip to Turkey and sea kayaking there. It has never failed me. When I wanted an upgrade I purchased the W300 in April 2018 and am more than satisfied with it. I did a 2-week sea kayaking trip in Japan in May 2018 and put it through its paces. I don’t use it underwater (I prefer to stay upright in my kayak) but occasionally it does get wet and no problems there. I mount it on a Gecko camera mount on the deck of my kayak just in front of the cockpit and what I appreciate most is that I can monitor what I am shooting (flip-up type sunglasses are best for this), have immediate access to all the controls and can change cards and batteries very easily. I have total confidence in this camera, especially for video recording. Picture quality is great. I use both cameras while paddling, the W300 on the deck primarily for video and the AW100 around my neck on a neck strap, secured with a bungee cord around my waist, for stills. RAW for stills would be a nice addition but that may come along in a future edition. I am a happy user and recommend the W300 to others who paddle. 4 stars.

This is the second Coolpix I have used for travel. The first was the Coolpix 100, another great travel camera. The 300 brings the Coolpix series up to speed in the digital age with Bluetooth. Since both cameras are built on the same frame work, various parts are interchangeable, such as batteries and cards. With that said, photos taken with the 100 can be uploaded to a smart device using the 300's bluetooth.

I had my Nikon AW130 stolen and got this W300 as a replacement. There are some nice upgrades to the types of scenes that can be taken. But it is for its underwater capabilities that I got this camera. Not only does it work well for photos but its movie mode is quite handy and useful. The small handheld format is great for swimming and snorkeling. Be sure to have some kind of float protection when you're using it underwater.

For some time I have been looking at a number of shock/drop/waterproof cameras to use kayaking, hiking and fishing, generally times when I just didn't want or could not easily carry a DSLR. Trying to be realistic, I didn't expect it to replace my DSLR, nor to take show quality images, but I didn't want to settle for low resolution, noisy or grainy images either. I wanted a good, all-around point and shoot style camera that could both take good quality images and survive in rough conditions. After comparing all of the various units available, and wading through countless on-line reviews, I went with the Nikon CoolPix 300. So far, it everything I expected it to be. The camera has nice fit and finish. Ergos are good, and the viewfinder works. While I have not bounced it off the pavement used it to drive tent stakes, it feels solid and tight. So far the images it is capturing have exceeded my expectations, being better than what I have gotten from previous standard pocket-sized point and shoots. The color saturation appears to be good, the exposure well balanced, and no noticeable noise in the images. I have not enlarged and printed any of the images beyond standard sized prints, but working with images in Lightroom it appears I could make decent sized prints without concern. So far the Nikon W300 is exceeding my expectations. Being winter I have not had it on a snorkeling or diving trip yet, so no review on it in that regard. One additional thought- the price for the camera was the same at all the various on-line outlets, but the Adorama bundle of included extras made their offering the best "deal". The only accessory I have needed to add was a floating wrist-strap for the inevitable drop into the water.

We took a one week vacation to Hawaii this year (2018). It was crucial that we could record and document in photographs and videos this once in a lifetime experience. We could not totally rely on our i-phones to perform this function under demanding environmental conditions. The experience was very very successful and the camera system performed flawlessly every day. We faithfully charged the camera battery every evening - the camera operated totally well during the following day. It is truly a water proof camera on the beach and on a whale watch boat. The Pearl Harbor visitor center does not allow bags, camera cases, etc. into the area (do not bring them or have them checked into on-site storage). This small 'travel' camera with strap only (no case) was allowed into the visitor center and exhibits without issue. It was the perfect camera for the situation. We had purchased the 'orange' color camera - a great choice. Thank you Nikon and the store from which we purchased the camera system.

I bought this camera to use when I am on the water and in my kayak. The camera takes excellent pictures and has survived contact with the water perfectly. The SnapBridge capability took some time to get working properly, but photos show up on my iPhone without any work by me. Nice feature!. I use the GPS and compass; I have noticed that the battery wears down faster because of these features, but not a problem if you check the camera with regularity.

I bought this camera on Amazon. Beware buyers! This camera is not waterproof! Took great pictures on our first underwater trip - snorkeling trip to Belize, and then the LCD stopped working. Sent that in for warranty repair - came back ok. 2nd underwater trip - snuba in Florida Keys - took 3 pictures and the camera shut off and won't start after. Of course we followed instructions for prior to underwater trip. 2nd warranty repair - still under one-year warranty - 1st quote free, so I thought there is hope for Nikon to be a responsible company. But then the 2nd quote came back same price as the camera. It’s a waterproof camera, and I followed instructions prior to using it underwater, and yet the warranty doesn’t cover the repair. Why would I pay for that? I won't buy a Nikon waterproof camera ever again!

First, I love the camera. It takes great pictures and video. WiFi and Bluetooth are great. I got the camera last week while on a trip to Japan so I have not had a lot of time with it yet. After arriving back in the States I noticed a rattle or knock inside the camera. It wasn't there when I first used it and I'm concerned that something is loose inside. At this point it is not affecting the pictures or function of the camera.

I love taking photos with the pre-made settings. I have taken many good photos with the camera. However, I have had to fix problems with the camera at least 3-4 times and I've only had it for 9 months. I've had to solve issues with the charger, with the syncing mechanism, and general other issues. I have also been unable to ever get the wifi to work. Also, there is no manual mode so I can't really play with the aperture/ISO/shutter speed like I want to.

I own also the aw100 and I was lucky to have it with me as a backup camera. I bought the W300 because after 6 years of heavy use I thought that the aw100 deserved a rest. Unfortunately this one stopped working while underwater and I can see that water got into te camera. I have quite a lot of experience with underwater tools and the aw100 still a solid performer after 6 years is the proof, not to mention my Nikonos, still working. This said the W300 is a good camera but I have the feeling that Nikon made some modification to the lock, because the number of user with water damage is increased from the aw100-120.

My use case for this camera is: (a) primarily a travel / water / pool camera that I can beat up on it. (b) I'm a scuba diver and would love something rated for a depth of 100 ft. Brought this to an Alaska cruise on a big cruise ship. Went sea kayaking for the shore excursions and took this camera along. AF is a bit finicky. High-speed exposure setting shoots all frames within a second, instead of like an SLR where there's consistent "gap" between the shots. Useful in some use cases but not in mine. Macro is lacking. I do like the super-time(?) mode where the video is played back at 4x or 6x or 8x... fun but... not too useful. Returned it and bought its arch-rival Olympus instead.

I pruchased and owned the AW120 since 2014. I used it only a couple of times underwater. The product stopped working this year 2018 and had expericend water condensation damage when it is waterproof. Please buy another product if you consider keeping your camera for more than 4 years. Nikon was nice enough to offer me a bran new model at $389.97+tax. (Case#02514808) Stay away from Nikon

I had the Nikon aw100 waterproof camera for six years and have been so happy with the product. Waterproof, easy to use, and excellent, great quality shots. I have literally thirty to forty of my favorite shots hanging around my apartment from all the great adventures- moments that would never be captured with a non-waterproof camera. After years of use led to a reasonable malfunction on the camera, I decided to buy the newer version- the Nikon w300. I was immediately unimpressed with the obvious decrease in product quality. The photos were terrible and the camera was NOT waterproof in shallow waters. It ruined a trip to the Amazon, as I couldnt take any photos, and the photos that were taken did not come out in good quality. Very disappointed and would NOT recommend.

One of the main selling points of this camera for me was that it would connect to my phone and I could download my pictures and videos directly to it as I do not have a computer or laptop as I have been traveling/living abroad for 3 years now. After many attempts at trying to remedy the problem it will not connect to my camera via WiFi. It connects perfectly fine via Bluetooth but none of the features are useable through Bluetooth so it seems like it’s an unnecessary addition to the camera. I am going to return the camera to the shop soon after writing this review.

I have owned a Coolpix 300W for 3 years and have never had a problem. I have snorkeled in Hawaii, taken it on long range fishing trips, played in the surf and in swimming pools and it just doesn't stop provided top notch performance. NOW, I do take care of it. If it provides a warning about waterproofing, I shut it off, open it up and treat the exposed seals with an appropriate coating. I have never had a problem with water integrity. I love the GPS, electronic compass, altimeter, and depth g...

Performs as Advertised, maybe better

I bought this camera to use while scuba diving. I was amazed at how well it performs, and so was every body else on the dive boat, even those with elaborate camera setups. I was also concerned that it was too small for one-handed operation but it was no problem. The auto flash worked well. When at depth and I needed more light, I had my video light in my other hand. Without a bulky housing I even took some "blind" photos by aiming under a ledge where I couldn't see. Switching to/from macro wa...

Some people are happy to take pictures from the comfort of the sidelines. That's nice. But if you want to be part of the action, you need a camera as tough as you. For those thrill seekers and action-hounds, meet the COOLPIX W300, a tough-as-nails camera designed for the extremes. Waterproof, freezeproof, shockproof and dustproof, it captures 4K Ultra HD video, 16 MP photos, time-lapse movies and more in the harshest conditions. Bring it surfing, skiing, SCUBA diving, biking, climbing...wherever your adventures lead. Use the built-in GPS, eCompass, altimeter, Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® Low Energy to track and share every heart-pounding moment. Show the world what you're really made of.
16-MP backside illuminated CMOS sensor
Share epic photos and videos that put your friends and family in the moment. The COOLPIX W300's 16 MP low-light sensor and fast f/2.8 NIKKOR zoom lens freeze action in striking detail, even when the light is fading. It's fast autofocus and continuous shooting speed helps you land shots others might miss. Turn on Macro Mode and reveal hidden details.
5x optical zoom NIKKOR lens with Hybrid VR
When the action is just out of reach, zoom in with the telephoto power of the COOLPIX W300's 5x optical zoom lens. You'll have the flexibility to get the whole scene into the frame or to zoom in for a tight view. The whole time you're shooting, Nikon's Hybrid VR (Vibration Reduction) keeps your photos and videos steady, even when the road gets bumpy.
With the touch of a button, the COOLPIX W300 records 4K Ultra HD or 1080p Full HD videos with stereo sound. Combine your favorite clips into a 30-second compilation with background music and special effects using Short Movie Show—ideal for sharing online. Use Time-lapse recording to condense an hour of action into a 10-second sequence, or speed up time with a Superlapse video. You can even shoot stills while recording video. The camera also features VR during movie recording (5-axis hybrid: lens-shift type and electronic type) and AE lock is now available when shooting underwater video.
Simple, smart operation designed for action
Operating the COOLPIX W300 couldn't be easier. An extra large grip and smart button placement make for stable one-handed shooting. The large 3.0-inch LCD has an anti-reflective coating for shooting in bright light. A dedicated Tool button gives you quick access to GPS, eCompass and other tools. When you're wearing heavy gloves, you can change modes simply by moving the camera.
Built-in Wi-Fi & Bluetooth
Pull out a compatible smartphone or tablet to automatically transfer, review and share your photos, add caption text and even take pictures remotely with the COOLPIX W300. The Nikon SnapBridge app can automatically back-up your photos to Nikon IMAGE SPACE as you shoot them. Share the moment while it's still happening.
Easily track and view your course, steps taken, altitude, depth—even atmospheric and water pressure—with the COOLPIX W300
Whether you're illuminating a subject or trying to see your map, the COOLPIX W300's bright LED light will come in handy.
Special effects and Creative Mode
Make your photos stand out from the crowd with Creative Mode, eight Special Effects and eight Quick Effects that you can apply before or after you take a shot. Highlight a single color within a B&W image, soften the focus of everything in a portrait, increase contrast and dynamic range, mimic a fisheye lens, make everything look like a toy model, reduce fog or smoke in a shot and much more.
Turn on Smart Portrait Mode and select from seven portrait-enhancing effects to make your friends and family look their best.
Retouch your shots with 12 functions like Skin Softening, Teeth Whitening, Brighten Faces and more to make every shot a keeper.
Point and shoot ease
The COOLPIX W300 takes the work out of great photos and videos. When you're in a challenging situation, just select from 20 common Scene Modes like Night Landscape or Portrait, or choose Scene Auto Selector and let the camera choose for you.
Fast continuous shooting
When the action speeds up, hold down the COOLPIX W300's shutter button and capture up to 7 frames per second. Find amazing images within a split second of action.
Powerful battery and quick charging
When you're out on an excursion, there's no where to charge a battery. That's why the COOLPIX W300's battery is good for over 280 shots. When it is time for a charge, expect a full recharge in just 2 hours and 20 minutes.
Accessorize your adventures
Want to take things to the next level? Add the optional SB-N10 Underwater Speedlight*, which acts as both an underwater flash and a strobe, for beautifully lit underwater photos and videos. Add a silicone jacket for better grip when wet…and some extra style.
*The SB-N10 Underwater Speedlight requires use of the SR-CP10A Underwater Optical Fiber Optic Cable Adapter, sold separately.
