I wear readers (1.5 power) to read now and this eyepiece brings my diopter back into the middle range.

It's a shame they didn't design these to allow a combination of both a DK-17M and a DK-17C. At least for myself, I'm stuck with the choice of a DK-17C which allows me nice adjustment for a good crisp view or the DK-17M which provides just a little bit of magnification (it is noticeable). Both are easy to swap out on a D810. Both are an improvement over the stock diopter. I have decided to use the DK-17M since I prefer the magnification over just the diopter focus improvement. Luckily my eyesight is at the point where an extreme adjustment of the diopter (with DK-17M) is acceptable.

If you are far sighted you must get this, especially if you focus manually. In order to install it, you have to flip the viewer cover with the knob close to the lens.

Like to shoot without glasses. This eyepiece does most of the correction and then can fine tune on camera

I had reached the limit of the eyepiece correction with two of my cameras that prevented getting good focus. After installing the correction lens, this greatly improved focusing ability. Ah.. the pitfalls of aging eyeballs!

I was not quite able to get the built in diopter adjustment perfect so decided to add this eyepiece and then fine tune with the camera's diopter. It works perfectly. I use less diopter on the camera and get clear viewfinder without glasses.

Works fine. The thing to be aware of with these is that the stated diopter value is not the corrective power of the eyepiece itself, but the combined diopter of the eyepiece in combination with the rest of the viewfinder optics.

I had to tear the rubber off of the standard eye piece to unscrew it. Wouldn't budge otherwise. New diopter screwed right in and works perfectly for my vision. Diopter adjustment is now in the center of the adjustment range.

Nice to use when you have glasses....just screw this into the finder piece and take off your specs....(provided you are as nearsighted as me) and then camera composing is a lot easier!

Good addition to a Nikon viewfinder

An essential accessory for Nikon SLR camera users, the DK-17C Neutral Correction Eyepiece offers a +0.0 diopter value, designed to optimize your viewfinder's sharpness in harmony with your unique eyesight. This high-quality eyepiece is specifically compatible with Nikon D3, D2H, D2X, D2Xs, and F6 SLR cameras, enhancing your photography experience by providing a clearer, more accurate view.
Unlike standard eyepieces that come with Nikon SLR cameras, which serve primarily for dust protection, this durable and efficient DK-17C eyepiece offers neutral correction. It effectively changes the camera's base diopter value from minus one to zero, providing an optimum starting point for most SLR users with normal vision.
Each Nikon eyepiece diopter, including this reliable DK-17C model, incorporates a numerical value, represented by either a minus (for near-sighted users) or a plus (for far-sighted users) number. This allows you to select the appropriate diopter for your vision and your specific camera model.
The user-friendly design of this eyepiece includes a rubber coating, intended to minimize scratching of a photographer's eyeglasses. However, it's important to note that neutral correction eyepieces do not replace the supplied standard eyepiece.
To determine the best Nikon diopter value for you, it's recommended to consult with your ophthalmologist, optometrist, or dispensing optician. They can help you determine your diopter from your corrective prescription when viewing an object at a distance of approximately one meter.
For Nikon SLR cameras with built-in adjustable eyepiece correction, please refer to your instruction manual to see if additional threaded Nikon eyepiece diopters can be combined with your camera's built-in diopter control. The DK-17C Neutral Correction Eyepiece is an excellent choice for those whose vision dictates that optimum viewfinder sharpness cannot be achieved with the built-in diopter adjustment control alone.
