My husband gave me this as a gift and as an upgrade from Nikon D70S and so far, I absolutely love it. The menu is easy to follow, the LCD screen is great for shooting and reviewing photos, very clear. I am still reading and practicing and getting used to all the new features that I didn't have my D70S.

Great Camera! I own 3 of them! The reconditioned ones are like new at a competitive price and guaranteed! The best of all worlds!

I would not recommend buying this product refurbished. I use this item for a week and it went dead as if it had no battery. I looked up forums on the internet and found this was a common problem. I went past the aloted time for a refund but after reading the reviews I decided to go with the D7000. It has been great and I love the results.

I bought my refurbished D300 a year ago and am still in love with it. This camera came boxed (box is NIkon but does say Refurbished) and looked like new when I opened it. It has performed perfectly since day one. Buying the refurbished camera saved me about $500 at the time! You cannot get a better DX format camera from Nikon (well there is the newer version...but still).

Great camera. No complaints. Wondered about buying refurbished, but glad I did. Saved money and can't distinguish it from a new one.

This camera takes some time to get the look you want through the many adjustments in the menus, but worth the time to get the look you want. Camera is well built and sturdy. Bottom line is I really like this camera.

I had purchased this moving up from a D80 and I am glad I did. within the 90 day warranty, I had to send it back to nikon to get the shutter replaced, but after that(and thank goodness it was within the 90 day window) I have been happy with it ever since. Obviously, ISO is much better than the D80. I will probably keep this even after I get a FF camera for the longer reach with telephoto lens.

This is a tremendous camera for the money. Being older, I can't rely on my eyes for sharp focus. The auto focus is my saviour. It varies in speed from lens to lens, but is very reliable when I do my part. The ability to manually move the point of focus within the frame is essential. I love the Nikon Creative Lighting System. I use portable flashes and/or ambient light exclusively, even for studio work with full size modifiers. I can put lights most anywhere I want and control them manually, via TTL, or both. Using flashes so much, I appreciate the 1/320sec sync speed and the option to hypersync up to 1/8000sec. Having to shoot in mixed lighting situations, it is very nice to be able to dial out the ambient and dominate the scene with my own setup. The next up camera in the Nikon line is currently the D700. There really aren't a lot of features that are significantly improved in the D700. The biggest to me would be the better viewfinder. I don't see the full frame FX sensor of the D700 as important as others might. The cropped DX sensor of the D300 works very well with reasonably low noise at lower ISO settings. It is important the D300 does better with DX lenses than the D700. I have a mix of DX and FX lenses so I will be hanging onto the D300 even if I should change to a higher level body. At this writing I would have to make the jump to a D3x or D3s to achieve significant image quality improvement, particularly with DX lenses. The D300 has advantages of lighter weight and smaller size over the top line Nikons, never mind the cost. The D300s seems not to bring much more to the game since I have zero interest in video from a still camera body. Given similar interests, uses, and the D300 price currrently being heavily discounted, and cheaper yet as factory refurbished, as mine was, I cannot recommend another camera over the D300. The story may change when the replacement for the D700 comes out, with hopefully high ISO noise reduction akin to the D3s.

I purchased this camera to replace my D200 and have been very satisfied with both the images and the feature sets. Would have given 5 stars if the noise at high ISO setting was more acceptable. I would definitely purchase refurbished again.

Decided on a "refurb" body as a back up and i couldnt be more satisfied. Granted the box if different but everything else was there.....manuals, software, cables, etc. The body is in "brand new" condition with no scratches or marks. Well worth it !

I mainly use this as my main camera for off camera and natural light portraits. Love it great quality. I upgraded from D200 since I could not afford D700..Just as good if you dont have extra 1000 bucks! Just as good and just minus the full frame width! I shoot 10-20mm alot during shoots!.[...]

I was hesitant at first to get a refurbished item. I had a D90 before and it really didn't fit the bill. I needed something sturdier and a but larger (The D90 was a bit small). I was looking for a used D300 but this was around the same price range. When I received it, though all my hesitation and apprehension went out the window. It came in a different box (not the gold one) but I couldn't tell that it was a refurbished unit. Its like it was new. Works great, all functions well. [...] All in all I'd highly recommend it.

I convinced my parents that this would be the perfect graduation/18th birthday gift, they finally gave in and I purchased this D300. It looks flawless, there were no scratches/smudges anywhere on the camera. But once I decided to check its shutter acutations, I was set back. Prior to my purchase, my refurbished D300 used approximately 27,500+ shutter acutations (I went on [@]). It was definitely a disappointment, but this camera is wonderful overall.

I'm not into Video, so when upgrading from my well loved d200. I went for a reconditioned d300. 90 day Nikon warranty and a 3 year mac. Still several hundred dollars cheeper than a d300s

Just received my factory refurb and unfortunately the camera had some issues and is going back to Adorama. [...] Because I wanted a replacement quickly, I purchased another factory refur. I haven't had any problems with factory refurbs until now, so this seems to be a isolated case.

I shoot primarily nature/landscape. This camera works perfectly for that. I would not use it at a wedding. The shutter makes a very audible noise which some may find disturbing. For every other type of photography, this camera will handle it.

I needed a second body to serve alongside my existing D300. I ordered the factory-refurbished D300 because it cost less than a new D300s and was probably a safer bet than a used D300. So far, so good. It looks brand new and works fine. A good deal.

I was a little skeptical about buying a refurbished camera until I found out my friends gear was partially refurbished as well. I got my camera and could not be happier. Camera looks and works great.

I bought a D90 last year, so I didnt need the D300S video feature. I took a chance on a refurbished camera to save money. No one could possibly tell this isnt a brand new product.

Nice, clean camera. Just like a brand new one except it was about $350.00 less. Smooth shutter, iso 3200 very little noise. Rugged and durable. Don't like the CF card door. It seems to open on me sometimes when I'm at an event. Overall a great camera and price.

I bought a refurbished D300. I was nervous about buying refurb, but I am absolutely satisfied with this camera. It looks like it's never been taken out of the box before. I see no difference between this refurb and the last camera that I bought brand new. Adorama is the most honest online vendor that I've ever dealt with. [...]

I purchased the refurbished model and added the three year warranty to ensure I would not have any problems. The camera did not work upon receiving it. It did not autofocus and the aperture gave me an error signal and would not move off of F zero. I called Nikon support and they told me to send it in for fixing. This has been a waste of my time. [...] I am very disappointed.

Everyone knows how good the D300 is. The refurbished is as good as a new one but saves a few hundred dollars. I try to buy refurbished as much as possible and I have never had any issues with them.
