The body I received had 170,000 shutter actuations. This is a used body. I have purchased Nikon refurbished products before, and they showed very minor evidence of use, if any at all. I am very disappointed that nikon is passing used/repaired bodies off as "refurbished". I returned it the day i received it!

I have this camera to replace my old D2H, pretty good in general with similar layout, especially its a FX camera since I already have a D700. The camera balance really well and don't feel that heavy, the AF is quick even I am running on a Sigma non internal focus lenses, and I don't even have to open the wrapped instruction since this camera is very identical to the D2 series. The cons are, battery comes with this camera cannot hold a charge, the overall cosmetics condition of the camera is EX (few marks on here or there), the shutter count is around 60K. It is still good for the price if you don't care about the above comments and want a great soild full frame camera!

If you shoot indoor volleyball or any low light action sport this body is a beast! Heavy but fast and if you can put a 80-200 lens on it you won't be sorry - low noise at 6400 ISO and super fast lock on focus. Machine gun like 10 fps. This is my second refurb D3 I've bought from Adorama. My first one needed the shutter rehabbed at over 200K actuations. I decided I would fix it and buy another! An awesome FX camera that can do it all...

I am a wedding and portrait photographer and jumped from the D700 to this refurbished D3 and so far it's all that everyone says it is. Fast, reliable and easy to operate. I have only used it for about 4-5 shoots so far but have been loving it and so glad I invested in this purchase. The condition of this refurbished model is excellent! I love my D700 but this camera is better under low light and high ISO situations and very happy with the double slot back-up. Gives me that peace of mind. Worth the investment!

I've been using this one for 7 months now, and overall have been very satisfied with it. I wish Nikon came closer to Canon in the MP count (without having to spend $8k), but that's about my only real gripe. High ISO/low light shooting isn't really what I was expecting, but if you want better, get a D3s or D700. I don't like to push this camera much past ISO 2000 as it starts (at least mine does) getting noticeably noisy/softer results. Generally I shoot at ISO 200 anyway, so it's fine....but will go up to 1000 if I really have to. Everything else is great. A few things I've always liked about Nikon over Canon is the ease of use in navigating menus and the ergonomics/comfort. Nikon makes it pretty easy, and it's the little things that start to add up. This camera enables you to do things quickly and efficiently (while having the capability to produce great results), which is the whole idea. I've bought a lot of refurbished items from Adorama, and have always been satisfied with what I've received.

Shutter priority with this camera allows precise toggling speed/ISO's to perfection. Froze raindrops during GSD schutzhund shoot last weekend... drops were in focus on focal plane with subject. Pretty awesome. Look close, you'll see the drops.

Anyone that has actually used a D3 will tell you that there is no comparison to any previously made Nikon (or Canon). I got the refurbished model to add an FX camera to our bag. I can honestly say that from here on out, I will not use any DX camera (with the exception of my D40 for family outings) again! Don't get me wrong, the D3 is big and heavy. With a large piece of glass like my 70-200/f2.8 VR, it is REALLY heavy! You can stop listening to Ken Rockwell for a moment, because you will probably want to use a tripod (instead of a monopod) with large zooms. The best way to describe this camera is that it 'gets out of your way'. There are dedicated buttons for almost everything (i.e. WB, ISO, etc), and even customizable "function" buttons (the "Fn" button is one of my favorites on all my Nikon cameras). When you want to shoot fast, you can shoot fast (and I mean fast!). On the other hand, you can easily slow down and compose an image with finesse. I use this for weddings because I WANT to, not because I need to. THE D3 IS OVERKILL FOR WEDDINGS AND PORTRAITS!!! Buy it if you want, but the D700 is probably a better choice for wedding/events shooting. The D3 is starting to take the sports/action photography sector back from Canon, which is what this camera was designed for. However, if you want the fastest and most rugged camera around, go for it! The refurbished model worked perfectly and looked brand new! Mine had less than 400 shutter actuations when I go it! I've taken over 4000 in less than a month and the photos are amazing. I'm glad I bought it before the price adjusted up! This isn't a camera to "cheap out" on lenses. Actually, you should cheap out on any lens, but definitely so with the D3. I don't understand the theory of putting $400 glass on a $4000 camera, but it is silly. I have the 24-70/f2.8 for weddings/events, but find myself using the 70-200 VR or the 24mm/f2.8 most of the time. I am going to splurge on the wide-zoom soon, but since I don't use the D3 for personal outings, I am finding it hard to fork over the cash. Enjoy it and try to avoid pouring yogurt and apple sauce on it for a YouTube video!

Adorama , is by far my preferred Camera store in New York . Not so Big , they can't give you individual attention and time. Not so small , they can't give you a reasonable and fair price. For these reasons, and many more, to long to list here. I CALL ADORAMA FIRST ! Because I know they care about me. ( this has been tested ). I AM A CUSTOMER FOR LIFE !

Tremendous savings over buying new. No issues whatsoever. Combine this with the MAC warranty and you have no worries.

Great camera as a successor to my old faithful D2X. So it's pretty well as described. [...]
