This camera turned my hobby into a career. My girlfriend, now wife, bought it in like 2010 and it slowly became mine, it has travelled with me all around the world and has been my companion through thick and thin, recently after many years of wear and tear through jungles, deserts, mountains, heat, snow, it went through hell and back, the lens coupling finally gave in and after 12 years i couldn't use it anymore. It was a trooper, my god, what a camera...what a camera!!!. If you really love someone who wants to get into photography, this is the camera that will get them there. Battle tested tried and true.

In the current Silicon Age, much what we do with photography ends up viewed on hardly any more than the resolution of a cell phone. Aware of these limits I am more often than not reaching out for my D90 over my 24MP D5200, simply put functionality wins the day and down scaling the D90 is sharper than I need in any case. What I really need is more 100% good shots than 80%, which is something I associate with the 5XXX range have owned two of them. Is there something in that because no reservations about the sensor in the 5200. So what if the whites are 98% as good, the edges never look flat or dull, photos come to life and I get to use all my old primes from film days too. The body I purchased 2nd hand for a fraction of the cost of any D7XXX a mare $126 its previous life was a hard one, so I replaced a few rubbery parts and put it to hard work. Everything in this model is well balanced and really just works well all the time, I think that at the time Nikon could ill afford mistakes and a lot more hard work and research where today they changing models as fast as the next cell phone comes out. I admit that while low light is not the best, it’s not bad at all, the colour of D52xx is better, but I can fix that too. I take flowers, and do my son’s cricket shots grinding the shutter away all in anticipation of the final shot. I have owned D40x, D5000,D5200 Canon G1x ; G5; G15 S100 and in my mind this is still the best for a reliable shot first time round. I have often wondered if the 7XXX is really that much better, but here is no back focus, front focus sorry fine tuning horsing around crying. Not to many millions of focus points just where I need them in the middle. My next camera it’s D500, after someone has beaten it to death, I say “Stay away from a clean 2nd camera it’s faulty!”

Se vai começar na fotografia, comece por aqui. Não vai se arrepender. A Nikon acertou nessa câmera para iniciantes.

I purchased the D90 new, likely around 2008, and have nothing but excellent success with it. In recent times I discovered that its design does not allow shooting video with an SDXC card, that it can shoot still, but for video, I must keep it to SDHC. Fine, as I carry sufficient cards, and shoot away. I've never taken the ISO to its extreme limits, so cannot speak of noise level compared to newer models. The high speed continuous frame mode has been fast enough to shoot the many auto races I attend. A little cleaning of battery contacts with a quality de-oxidant cleaner/conditioner seems to solve the rare connectivity issues I've seen, but all in all a great camera for my needs. In the event I ever upgrade to a newer model, the D90 will always have a place as an alternate body.

I have had in my power the D90 since 2010, to have been a loyal and loyal partner, of course that over time the auto focus has been wearing away and to shoot high Iso there is a lot of noise but in light conditions suitable for portraits and Landscapes one brings out the best of the camera, as well as resistant because I fell a few times with my lenses of 18-105mm and 55-200 which the latter I have used for portraits. In short I give 5 stars to this companion that I will not forget

Though it was passed down to my family about 7 years (during which time we have used it a lot) this camera has performed remarkably

The first DSLR I've had the chance to fully use was a D90 handed down in the family. Despite more than five years passing since its release, the D90 remains a fantastic starting point for beginners. The D90 possesses an ample amount of quality that still holds up a decent amount in comparison to newer cameras. It may not necessarily compare to newer cameras in terms of capabilities, but it remains a stalwart companion in my book that did its job well. I intend to move on to my next DSLR within the next week for something with a bit more quality. I still have to say, though, that I will only have fond memories of this one.

HAVE OWNED MY D90 FOR ABOUT 5 YEARS AND ENJOYED IT FROM DAY ONE. WAS NEW TO DIGITAL PHOTO BUT FOUND IT QUITE EASY TO LEARN ABOUT THE DIFFERENT FEATURES AND HOW TO USE THEM.

I too had problem with err messages, but for me the problem was the lens and not the camera. It is a very good entry level camera for new hobbyists.

I love this camera, and have shot with it for years now. It's the first digital I've worked with that took shops that rival my beloved F100. I've had great success selling my shots even at poster size (18"x30") and the color and detail is fantastic. Battery life is good, the combination of pre-programmed and manual settings allow for a great degree of precision, and it's done right by me.

The camera itself is good and when it works, it performs very well in both automatic and manual modes. I got amazing shots with a little menu fiddling. So why am I so disapointed. I migrated from Canon to Nikon because someone had told me that Nikon were the most reliable. When we invest in many lens, flash and otehr SLR add ons, it is a commitment. My in-camera flash broke and needed fixing after a month. I had to wait three month for it to get repaired instead of getting a new one. When I did get it back, I started getting the freeze bug everyone is complaining about. Reading everybody's comments, I do not want to try their help desk (tryied everything and I'm still getting freezes) I know if I send it to Nikon, they will keep it forever, charge me some major $$ and return my camera without fixing it. My only question to Nikon, do tehy expect to make long term profits by selling cheap products to their customer and treating them like dirt afterward? My question to the rest of you. What is wrong with us that makes us believe a Sony, pentax or Olympus cannot do better. My only regreat is getting rid of all my great lens.

I purchased my first Nikon D90 about 2 months ago and sense that time I have taken thousands of pictures. The extreme quality of the pictures plus the outstanding color of same led me to buy another Nikon D90.Also the ability to crop and adjust color and lighting in camera is a huge plus..I never even need the computer and my results are unbelievable.Buy one and I guarantee you will love it.

This is the camera that brought me into photography, ever since i fell in love with photography... And of course this camera! However as I get better, there are many frustrated moments with this camera, such as slow focusing, and high noise at high ISO. It's frustrating but I won't blame the camera, 'cause it's technology is kind of old. I guess it's because I got better, and I need to upgrade to a new one. I believe this camera is a perfect one to start with for entry level, specially if you know you'll get really serious into it.

I owned my D90 for 3 years, but recently sold it. The camera was GREAT for awhile. I loved pretty much everything about it and planned to keep it forever. I've taken shots for family gatherings, photo runs in the city, outdoor hikes, travels to foreign countries to include island resorts and mountain backpacking excursions. The only problem that I had was with the dreaded F-- error. This error occurred even before I ever took the camera on my outdoor adventures. I tried cleaning the lens contacts and even used different types of lenses...no fix. The error only occurred a handful of times, but it was enough to where I missed key shots. I know there are D90's out there without this issue and I would love to pick up a used one, but I just can't be sure that the camera isn't affected by this issue.

I love this camera. I upgraded to this after learning DSLR mistakes with the D40. It's was a breakthrough in the DSLR world being the first to have HD video. I understand that some may find it outdated, but the reality is that nobody would ever guess you were shooting with an older body. Just put a good piece of glass on the end and start shooting. I've taken this camera literally across the world and in different environments. It may not be weather sealed, but it still works like a champ for me. Here are some of the pictures that I've taken with this wonderful camera. Enjoy.

This camera was a step up from the D60 and I can see the difference between the two. The D90 is a great camera for what I want to use it for. I do photo shoots for family and friends and with the D90 I can see the difference in the quality of the prints. I am still learning the features of the camera. Starting to shoot in RAW and notice the differences.

My impression during the brief period I had the camera was that it takes excellent pictures. I'm sure I barely scratched the surface of its abilities. I used to use 35-mm film cameras (Pentax, Yashica), but for a number of years have carried around the latest incarnation of Casio's pocket-sized wonders, and I soon realized that I simply would not take many pictures with the (to me) oversized Nikon. Adorama's return policy was straightforward and just as advertised.

Coming from D40 so this is an upgrade for me. Color is accurate and gives very good image quality. It is fast and very easy to use. The info button is a real plus as it shows you the current camera settings and you can make quick adjustments there too. I don't use the video mode as I prefer to use a camcorder for that purpose. Overall, a very good camera.

I've owned the D80 for a number of years now and have wanted the D90 to compliment my camera system. It's the better of the two with live view, a larger LCD and more menu options to name a few. The best part is, both use the same battery and battery grip so I can save money on accessories and space when I'm out on a shoot. Adding the 18-105mm lens to my compliment of lenses was also a big factor in my purchasing this great camera.

Really enjoying this camera

I upgraded from the D60 to the D90 and am very pleased. This camera does everything I had hoped it would and has room to grow with me as my skills improve. I suspect that this camera will be with me for a long, long time. I don't think I have learned even one third of its features and it is already taking crisp well lit pictures. I added an auxillary flash and the pictures got even better.
Better than perfection

My D90 is a joy to use. It's ergonomics are intuitive and all Nikon. The camera itself is a work of art and its ability to use my 25 year old lenses as well as my new ones is a reflection of conscientious engineering. I use my camera hard and in poor conditons and it gets banged around quite a bit. Despite this it keeps working without a hitch. The only problem I have is deciding which pictures are the keepers. Also the metering system and the Speedlight flashes have the uncanny ability to pi...
