Good battery but not as good as advertised

First of all the battery took forever to obtain. Don't know why the production is so slow for a key item required by the grip for long battery life. Battery is heavy and adds considerable weight especially if you're lugging around a long lens. The battery requires an expensive charger although 3rd party charges are available. Charging does not take too long compared with other batteries. Using the battery in the camera reveals that you do not get the 5100 or so shots advertised but about 1/3 or maybe 1/2 that many. Still, this is considerably more than the EN-EL15a battery. Overall I like it but I don't use it often unless on a longer trip or assignment due to the weight.

I find I can shoot many more pictures with it than an en-el 15b

I bought this battery to go with my D500. I find I can shoot many more pictures with it than an en-el 15b

Nikon EN-EL18b Lithium-Ion Battery

In my experience Nikon has always had/use high quality Lithium-Ion battery cells. I would never use “third party” batteries in my cameras, they’re just too risky.

EN-EL 18b Battery

For reliability and consistency on jobs this is the battery to have. While other manufacturers batteries may work well, they are prone to issues that aren’t apparent until several uses in. I have expectations that need to be met; Nikon’s batteries have met my needs every single time. Otherwise I might as well power my camera with potatoes.

Boss battery

Battery for D4s, D5 and battery grip for D850. More powerful than its predecessor.

Peace of mind

While it's really hard to "overshoot" a Nikon battery, I carry a spare in my kit at all times. It is also comforting to know I can use the same battery with my D 5 and my 850 by simply changing the chamber cover. (Purchase separately)

Works great but massively overpriced

Works great but can't give it more than 3 stars because of how massively overpriced this is as well as the required charger
